Mortis finished telling us the origin of the world known as the Mirror Realm. As his explanation drew to a close, he turned away from us, walked back to the throne, and sat down once more.
"There you have it. I hope I was able to fill in some of the gaps?" Mortis asked with a satisfied look on his face.
Had I not known a bit of the truth myself, that expression alone would have made me completely unable to trust his words. I wished he would not behave in such a contradictory manner.
"Yeah... more or less," I said.
I looked behind me and saw the shocked faces of Svetlana and Hitomi. That revelation was indeed a massive thing to take in. Even though I had pieced together a sizable amount of the sickening message beforehand, I still felt deeply disturbed upon hearing it in its entirety.
