I pulled another book from the shelf, my fingers aching from the repetition. The label on the spine read Werewolf Battle Formations: A Tactical History. I flipped through it—diagrams of troop movements, strategies for flanking, weaknesses in common defensive positions.
I slid it back into place.
Evey shelf I searched was the same. Books about humans. Books about werewolves. Books about witches. Histories of wars and treaties and bloodlines. Manuals of weapons and strategies and survival. Volumes on strengths and weaknesses, on tactics and counter-tactics, on everything except what I needed.
Nothing about elves. Nothing about fairies. Nothing about how to control mana. Nothing about Thaumamorphs. Not a single book about spells—not even the simplest ones.
It was as if someone had deliberately removed every trace of magic that wasn't tied to werewolves. As if the elves and fairies had been erased from history itself.
