Ripples spread across the lake, but the other fish did not scatter.
They only shifted their positions, gliding calmly as if Ben was not there at all.
Ben clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes. "You smug little glowing bastard…"
He adjusted his stance and planted his feet in the marshy soil near the water's edge.
Two of his appendages started to morph, forming a wide, circular suction valve.
The other remained as a gaping maw, ready to bite down on any fish that came close.
Ben's eyes glinted. "Let's see you dodge this."
The suction appendage plunged into the lake with a wet hiss.
The moment it activated, the water began to swirl in a tight, focused vortex.
Nearby debris, strands of lakeweed, and tiny plants were dragged inward, pulled into the spiral like water going down a drain.
Ben held his focus, eyes locked on one of the fish.
It flicked its tail and shot away from the pull, just like before.
This time, the second appendage was waiting.
