Ben and Elvira stood side by side inside their base.
They both stared at the prototype slime farm in front of them.
They were still discussing how it worked when a distant streak of red lightning flashed through the cavern ceiling.
Both of them stopped talking and turned toward the direction it came from.
"Seems our pursuer has arrived.
Do you feel it, my beloved?" Elvira asked in a quiet voice.
"Of course," Ben said. "I might not be some big expert on mana, but even I can tell… that is probably Aether."
"You think we can beat them?" she asked.
"It is not about can or cannot, Elvira.
We have to," Ben replied. "We need to strengthen our defenses, fast.
How much mana do you think we would need to block something like that?"
"Hmm… completely blocking it would take a lot," Elvira said.
There was a confident light in her eyes. "But redirecting it?
That is a different matter." She smiled.
After her last fight with Storm, she had thought of many ways to deal with lightning.
