Chapter 4 - Eyes that Haunt

Chapter 4: Eyes That Haunt

Hi, dear readers!

Thank you so much for your patience and support. Your love for this story means more to me than you know.

Now, let's dive into today's chapter.

---

"Hold tight, baby. We'll be there sooner than you imagine!"

Before Alena could ask another question, Lexy stepped on the accelerator.

The red sports car surged forward.

"Lexy!"

Alena instinctively held onto her seat, then burst into laughter.

"You're driving too fast!"

Lexy laughed, his eyes remaining on the road.

"Relax. I've got you."

Alena shook her head, though she couldn't stop smiling.

She had no idea where he was taking her.

And somehow, that made the whole thing even more exciting.

After several minutes, the car finally slowed.

Alena looked through the window.

"Where are we?"

"You'll see."

The car turned into a beautifully landscaped part of the university, filled with soft lights, tall trees, and comfortable outdoor spaces where students could relax.

Lexy parked.

Alena stepped out.

Her eyes widened.

"Wow..."

The place was breathtaking.

It was peaceful, beautiful, and almost hidden from the busier parts of campus.

Lexy stepped beside her.

"I thought you might like it."

Alena slowly turned around, taking everything in.

"I love it."

He smiled.

"Then I picked the right place."

They spent the rest of the evening talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company.

For Alena, the day had turned out completely differently from what she'd expected.

She had arrived at the university knowing almost no one.

Yet somehow, she'd already found someone who made the unfamiliar place feel a little less strange.

Eventually, Lexy drove her back to the dormitory.

When she opened the door, she paused and looked back at him.

"Thank you for today."

Lexy smiled.

"Anytime, dear."

That word again.

Dear.

Alena felt the familiar warmth creep into her cheeks.

"Goodnight, Lexy."

"Goodnight, Alena."

She watched his car disappear before heading inside.

That night, she fell asleep with a smile.

She didn't know it yet, but the following morning would bring her another unexpected encounter.

One she wouldn't be able to shake so easily.

---

The Next Morning

Alena stood in front of the mirror, preparing for her first proper class.

She adjusted her uniform and ran her fingers gently through her hair.

For a moment, she looked at herself.

Alena had always been beautiful.

Not the kind of beauty that needed heavy makeup or expensive clothes to announce itself.

Her beauty was effortless.

Her dark, silky hair framed a delicate face with naturally graceful features. Her skin was smooth and radiant, giving her an almost soft glow whenever the light touched her. Her eyes were large and expressive, carrying a warmth that made them difficult to ignore.

Her lips were naturally full and smooth, with a soft shape that made even her smallest smile noticeable.

Her nose was delicate, complementing the gentle symmetry of her face.

And beneath the simple university uniform was a graceful, feminine figure with a naturally defined waist and balanced curves that gave her an unmistakably elegant silhouette.

She wasn't trying to look beautiful.

That was the thing.

She simply was.

Alena gave herself one last glance.

"Okay."

She picked up her bag.

"First class."

She took a deep breath.

"Let's do this."

---

Her First Class

The classroom was already alive with conversation when Mr. Abram walked through the door.

Students were laughing, talking, and moving between their seats.

Then Mr. Abram stepped aside.

And the room went quiet.

Completely quiet.

The girl standing behind him had captured everyone's attention without saying a word.

Alena.

For a moment, it seemed as though the entire class had forgotten what they had been talking about.

A few students exchanged looks.

Others simply stared.

Alena immediately noticed the sudden silence.

Her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag.

Why is everyone looking at me?

She lowered her eyes slightly.

Mr. Abram cleared his throat.

"Good morning, everyone."

"Good morning, sir."

"I'd like to introduce you all to a new student."

He turned toward Alena.

"Go ahead and introduce yourself."

Alena swallowed.

She stepped forward.

"Hi..."

Her voice was soft.

"I'm Alena. I'm new here, and I'm looking forward to this class."

She gave a small, nervous smile.

That smile only made matters worse.

The room seemed to lose its silence for a different reason.

She was simply too beautiful.

Yet there was something innocent about the way she carried herself. She didn't seem aware of the effect she was having on the room.

She wasn't dressed to impress anyone.

She wasn't seeking attention.

She was simply standing there, nervous about being the new student.

And somehow, that made her even more captivating.

Alena stepped away from the front.

That's when she felt it.

A gaze.

Different from all the others.

Heavy.

Unwavering.

She slowly looked toward the back of the classroom.

And saw him.

For a moment, she forgot to breathe.

He was easily the most striking man in the room.

Tall.

Broad-shouldered.

Confident without seeming to try.

His dark hair was slightly messy, falling naturally over his forehead in a way that somehow made him look even more attractive.

His face had sharp, well-defined features—a strong jaw, straight nose, and perfectly balanced features that gave him an almost effortlessly handsome appearance.

But his eyes were what made him unforgettable.

Green.

Not an ordinary green.

They were deep, striking eyes that seemed to hold a quiet intensity of their own.

And they were looking directly at her.

His lips curved into the faintest smirk.

Alena's heart skipped.

Who is he?

For several seconds, neither of them looked away.

The classroom disappeared around them.

The voices.

The desks.

The lecturer.

Everything seemed distant.

There was only that stare.

Those impossible green eyes.

Alena suddenly became aware that she was staring.

Her cheeks warmed.

She quickly broke eye contact and looked down.

Okay, Alena. Focus.

She hurried to an empty seat.

The boy leaned back slightly, the faintest hint of amusement still playing across his face.

---

Mr. Abram began the lecture.

Alena opened her notebook and forced herself to concentrate.

She wasn't going to look back.

She wasn't going to allow some handsome stranger to distract her on her first day.

So she focused on the board.

She listened.

She took notes.

She actually concentrated.

But somewhere in the back of her mind, one thought remained.

Those eyes...

She pushed it away.

Focus.

---

Break Time

After a while, Mr. Abram announced a short break.

The room immediately came alive again.

Students stood, stretched, chatted, and headed toward the door.

Alena closed her notebook and packed her things.

She was beginning to feel hungry.

Maybe I'll get something small from the café.

She had just stood up when she heard a familiar voice.

"Hey, Alena!"

She turned.

Lexy stood near the door, wearing that familiar mischievous smile.

"Let's grab something from the café."

Alena smiled.

"The café?"

"Yep."

She picked up her bag.

"Lexy, you don't have to keep buying things for me."

He waved dismissively.

"Come on. You have to try the biscuits here."

"The school provides food."

"I know."

"So why waste money?"

"Because I want to."

Alena sighed.

"You're stubborn."

"And you're coming with me."

She laughed.

"Fine."

---

The café was busy when they arrived.

Lexy found a cozy corner for them to sit.

As he opened the snacks, Alena noticed something.

People were staring.

Again.

She looked around.

Students were whispering among themselves, occasionally glancing in their direction.

Alena leaned closer to Lexy.

"Why is everyone staring at us?"

Lexy casually looked around.

"Probably because they're surprised."

"Surprised about what?"

He looked at her.

A playful smile appeared.

"Maybe they're not used to seeing me with someone so cute."

Alena's eyes widened.

"Lexy!"

He laughed.

"What?"

"Stop saying things like that."

"Why?"

"Because everyone is already staring!"

"Let them stare."

He picked up a biscuit.

"Here."

Alena reached for it.

But Lexy pulled it slightly away.

"Open."

She stared at him.

"Seriously?"

"Just one bite."

"Lexy, I can feed myself."

She quickly snatched the biscuit from his hand.

"I can do it myself, thank you very much."

Lexy laughed.

"And you're attracting way too much attention."

"You're the one attracting attention!"

He grinned.

"Maybe."

Alena shook her head, trying not to smile.

But she couldn't.

Being around Lexy was becoming easier.

He had a way of making her laugh even when she was nervous.

---

When the break ended, they returned to class.

Alena settled back into her seat.

This time, she focused entirely on the lecture.

She didn't turn around.

She didn't look toward the back.

She was determined to pay attention.

And she did.

---

An Unexpected Friend

When the class finally ended, students began gathering their things.

Alena packed her books and headed toward the door.

Before she could leave, a tall girl stepped in front of her.

"Hi!"

Alena stopped.

"Hi?"

"I'm Emma."

The girl smiled brightly and extended her hand.

"I'm Alena."

"I know."

Alena blinked.

"You do?"

Emma laughed.

"Everyone already knows there's a new girl."

Alena smiled shyly.

"Oh."

Emma tilted her head.

"I think we should be friends."

Alena stared at her for a moment.

Then she laughed.

"Sure. Why not?"

"Great!"

Before Alena could prepare herself, Emma pulled her into a quick hug.

Alena stood there, stunned.

Emma released her.

"See you later!"

And just like that, she disappeared into the crowd.

Alena watched her leave.

"What just happened?"

She laughed softly and shook her head.

---

Lexy was waiting for her near the entrance.

"There you are."

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

"It's fine."

He smiled.

"Just don't make it a habit."

Alena laughed.

They walked together toward the girls' dormitory.

When they reached the entrance, Alena turned toward him.

"Thank you for today."

"Anytime, dear."

Her cheeks warmed again.

"Goodnight, Lexy."

"Goodnight."

She watched him drive away.

Then she turned toward the dorm.

---

Those Eyes

Later that evening, Alena stood beneath the warm shower, hoping the quiet would finally clear her head.

She closed her eyes.

For a few moments, there was nothing.

No noise.

No distractions.

Then suddenly—

Those eyes appeared in her mind.

Green.

Intense.

Unforgettable.

Alena frowned.

"Why am I thinking about him?"

She shook her head.

"This is ridiculous."

She rubbed her temples.

"I don't even know his name."

She sighed.

"Maybe a shower will help."

But somehow, even the shower wasn't enough to wash the thought away.

A sudden knock echoed through the bathroom.

Knock. Knock.

Alena froze.

She quickly turned off the water.

"Who is it?"

Silence.

Her heart began to beat faster.

She grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself.

"I'm coming!"

She cautiously approached the door.

Then—

Click.

The doorknob began to turn.

Alena froze.

Her breath caught.

Her eyes widened.

Someone was opening the door.

But who?

And why?

The door slowly began to move.
