Chapter 103 - Chapter 103 - The Prison and Woodbury

Prison.

A commotion is currently taking place behind the walls, and the women, the children and elderly were quickly being led to safety inside one of the rear buildings.

"Glenn, how many of them are out there?" Rick radioed while Daryl at the back was busy relaying orders to the other survivors and immediately dispersed to complete whatever orders Daryl gave them.

"There's at least thirty of them. Half of them are armed with military grade weapons." On the watchtower at the gate, Glenn observed the people in the distance with a pair of binoculars while hiding behind the corner wall and behind him is Otis, Dale and Alan.

Behind them, all of the able bodied men and women were all provided weapons, but most were on standby inside the inner fence and most men like Jack, Tom, Gareth or Cole made their way towards the other watchtowers facing the intruders with their own weapons in their hands.

[Rick..]

Rick felt something ominous from the tone of the voice and felt slightly nervous. "Yeah?"

[Merle and Shane are with them.]

Hearing the names being mentioned, Rick, Daryl and T-Dog looked at each other in surprise.

"Damn, how did they find this place?" T-Dog felt extremely agitated when he heard Shane's name being mentioned and also surprised.

Bam!

They did not even manage to properly digest the disturbing news when they were suddenly interrupted by the door to the main building that opened with a bang. Alex came out with Oscar carrying two large boxes with them with Hershel shortly following behind them.

Thud! Thud!

The two men carefully placed the boxes on the ground while panting.

Hershel looked at Rick with a foreboding expression. "It's the rocket launcher that Michael brought. I think this is the proper time for its intended use."

"Hell yeah." Daryl chuckled and without hesitation, he opened one of the boxes and pulled out an RPG-7.

"Whoa, so we're bringing in the big guns immediately huh." For the ones like Alex who's seeing the weapon for the first time, they were amazed and filled with more confidence for what's about to happen.

"Heck yeah." T-Dog was all smiles while rubbing his hands together.

Rick nodded at Hershel and then turned to look at Daryl. "Take it with you and join Glenn at the tower. It's only for deterrence, so don't use it unless absolutely necessary. Let's hope either Shane or your brother won't do something stupid."

Daryl just shrugged his shoulders and casually responded. "Nah, I doubt he won't. Let's just have everyone avoid killing him if a shoot out happens. I don't know what your buddy Shane would do though."

After saying those, Daryl immediately departed while Rick and the others watched him go.

Hershel stood before Rick and placed his hand on his shoulder and gave him a warning. "Do not trust Shane. I'm sure you already have an idea what he's here for."

Serious, Rick looked directly at Hershel's eyes for a moment before quickly looking away. "Yeah, I got it."

Then he turned around and faced the remaining ten fighters waiting for his command. "Everyone is to standby near the towers. No one else is to do anything unless ordered."

Someone raised their hand and asked after getting permission from Rick. "Isn't it better to head out with the cars and use them for cover? They'd at least know we're as heavily armed as them."

Rick sighed at such a stupid question, but he still politely answered him. "No, we're safer behind the walls. Now, move out."

Following that, Rick, alongside T-Dog led half of the fighters and headed towards the tower where Glenn and the others were while the other half headed towards where Tom and the others are located under Hershel and Oscar's lead.

On the other hand, the group of uninvited guests stood a distance away from the wall and watched as the towers facing them were hastily being manned by similar heavily armed survivors.

"How the heck did they build those walls and one that's made of logs at that?" Caesar was amazed that the survivors over on that side had managed to erect such fortifications.

Philip Blake, a.k.a The Governor ignored his words and instead turned his attention to the man standing a step behind him. "So is this the reason why you would disappear from time to time? I already heard from Merle about his brother, but what about you? Did they also kill your brother or something?"

"Tsk!"

Shane clicked his tongue, but still showed some respect to the man and tried to calmly respond while walking back and forth. Though it's obvious for everyone around him to hear the manic in his voice. "No, but they have my family with them."

Standing just a couple of steps behind him, Merle lightly shook his head when he heard him. 'Oh boy, he really wants to kill that damn cop. This guy is really crazy thinking that they actually became family after being fuck buddies for a while. It was more like a short fling between two people wanting to rub an itch. I bet Officer Friendly did not expect his best friend would turn on him like this.'

With those thoughts in mind, Merle let out a sneaky chuckle before slowly and stealthy moved to the back of the group. He realized that there's a high chance that a shootout might happen between the two groups since Shane is being a little agitated right now and that might do something stupid later.

'Better to be safe than sorry.'

Reaching the rear of the group, Merle suddenly felt a pair of eyes looking at him. When he turned to look at where that feeling was coming from, he saw Shumpert staring at him with a slight frown.

Merle just responded with a small nod, then ignored him.

"Are you sure that we should even be doing this for them? I don't really trust them, especially Shane. You've seen how crazy that guy is and also does not listen to your orders almost all the time." Caesar whispered to The Governor, reminding him that this isn't worth the trouble.

"Besides, they got a freaking rocket launcher. We're toast if that thing flies at us." He added with obvious discomfort.

The Governor just smiled as he understood his concerns. He won't deny that even he was surprised when he spotted one of them carrying a rocket launcher.

"Relax, we're here to negotiate, not to fight."

Hearing those words from him, Caesar felt more doubtful than reassured.

The Governor took off his rifle and handgun before handing it over to Caesar.

"Are you sure about this? You don't need to do this." Caesar again voiced his concern, but still took the weapons handed to him.

The Governor just smiled and responded with utmost confidence. "I'm sure. I'm not just doing this just because of those two. I'm not at ease knowing that such a large and dangerous group is living not far from us. I need to find out about what kind of people we're dealing with before coming up with a plan on how to deal with them."

The Governor did not wait for Caesar to say anything and immediately started walking towards the gate with his hands raised in the air.

"I just want to talk!" He shouted.

Meanwhile,

On the tower by the gate, Rick and Daryl joined Glenn and the others up the tower and similar to the Governor's side, they also monitored their movements seriously.

"Are they just gonna keep standing there and stare at us?" Daryl spoke aloud. He sounds impatient since it's obvious that he's eager to use the rocket launcher on his shoulder.

Glenn looked at Michael. "What are you gonna do? Don't tell me you're going down there too?"

Rick looked at him like it was the obvious thing to do.

"Yeah."
