"Aren't you worried about what happened today?" Chantelle felt he had been far too calm from start to finish. Even when she was talking to the old man, he rarely intervened. It was as if he did not care about the whole thing at all.
"What's there to worry about? Different situations call for different actions."
"How exactly? By letting yourself be used and beaten?" Chantelle looked at the injuries on Daniel's body with clear disgust. It was horrible. Too horrible to even look at.
"You underestimated me. Do I really look that easy to take advantage of?" Daniel raised his eyebrows with a teasing smile.
Chantelle's heart suddenly started pounding. The two of them looked at each other for a moment, then exchanged a meaningful smile.
Ashton caught those smiles through the rearview mirror. A chill ran down his spine.
Mr. Wilson clearly had a trick up his sleeve.
"Tell me," Chantelle said. She really wanted to know what kind of chance could make Daniel willingly take such a beating.
