Isabella's fingers tightened slightly around the fur. Liora shifted at the movement, and Isabella immediately loosened her hand because no matter how angry she was, she would not scare the baby.
She looked at Cyrus.
"Cyrus."
His face was tense. "Isabella, you need to rest."
Her eyes sharpened. "What happened to Kian?"
"He is alive," Cyrus said quickly.
That was not the answer she wanted.
If anything, it made her heart drop lower.
"Why is he chained?" she asked.
Again, nobody answered at once.
Zyran's eyes moved away. Osiris looked guilty enough to dig a hole and bury himself. Cyrus looked like he wanted to protect her from the truth by swallowing it whole.
Isabella's anger rose so fast that it gave her strength.
"You all knew?"
Cyrus lowered his eyes.
Zyran said nothing.
Osiris looked miserable.
Isabella laughed once, but there was no humor in it. "You all knew Kian was chained outside, and nobody told me?"
Cyrus reached for her hand. "You just gave birth."
