---
The God of Death, Yveltal, had finally appeared, and it did so in a manner that plunged everyone into utter despair.
Yveltal hovered above Lyle's head, its aura as a First-class Legendary radiating outward, infused with its unique power of death.
"Block it!" roared one of the Champions.
If its aura was allowed to spread unchecked, hundreds of thousands of spectators in the venue and the talented trainers from their nations would perish under its influence.
In an instant, the ace Pokémon of all sixteen Champions sprang into action, joining forces to block the aura. The moment they succeeded, five of the Champion-level Pokémon coughed up blood.
Nevertheless, they had barely managed to withstand the aura Yveltal had casually released.
All the Champions looked extremely grim. They had exerted their full strength, yet it was only enough to barely hold back a casual emittance of aura from their opponent.
If Yveltal fully unleashed its aura, forget about blocking it—whether they could even survive would be in question.
This was the gap between gods and mortals. No matter how strong Champion-level Pokémon were, they could not threaten a First-class Legendary.
And even among First-class Legendaries, Yveltal's strength was considered exceptional.
In terms of level alone, while Kyogre was only level 105, Yveltal stood at level 107.
The strength of a First-class Legendary could simply be measured by levels, meaning Yveltal was stronger than Kyogre.
So, even if Julian managed to summon Kyogre and gave it the Unown's Protection buff, it would most likely still be no match for Yveltal.
Yveltal looked down at the ants below with mild surprise. Even though it was merely its unintentionally released aura, the fact that they blocked it together 'counted as having some skill.'
---
> "We're done for, we're really done for this time!"
> "What do we do? It seems like Champion Walker has no way out."
> "Dammit, why does it have to be Champion Walker who has to die? Can't it be some other Champion?"
> "Get lost! Champion Walker isn't dead yet!"
> "My husband will definitely defeat Yveltal!"
> "You brain-dead fan! Right now, Champion Walker can't even summon Kyogre. Without Kyogre's help, how is he supposed to fight? With his mouth?"
---
Seeing that five of the sixteen Champions' ace Pokémon had already coughed up blood just from blocking the aura unintentionally released by Yveltal, while the rest were injured to varying degrees, the situation seemed hopeless even before the battle had begun. What was there left to fight?
As for the spectators in the arena, everyone had already fallen into despair. No one screamed or caused a scene; in true despair, silence was the only appropriate response.
"You don't seem scared at all," Lyle remarked, already confident of his victory. Yet he noticed that Julian's expression had remained unchanged from start to finish. Even now, with Yveltal summoned, Julian showed no shift in emotion.
"Because I'm not afraid," Julian said calmly.
---
> "When it comes to being all talk, Champion Walker takes the crown."
> "Why isn't he afraid? Because he's not afraid. Write that down—it's a golden quote."
> "What are you all doing? How dare you mock Champion Walker!"
---
Meanwhile, Julian had already placed his hand on the Poké Ball containing Zekrom. The reason he wasn't afraid was simple: he had the Black Dragon, Zekrom, by his side. No, wait—now he also had the White Dragon, Reshiram.
Just then—
"Dee!"
Love: "You shall not harm my cub!"
The venue wasn't just filled with spectators; Julian's parents and Love were there too.
Love spread its arms wide, positioning itself protectively in front of Julian, its gaze fixed firmly on Yveltal. It didn't matter that the opponent was a First-class Legendary—its eyes burned with unwavering determination.
Anyone who sought to harm its cub would have to step over its dead body first.
"Son!"
Jake and Tina also ran over.
Julian pulled Love behind him and, under its puzzled gaze, reassured it, "Don't worry, Love. Your cub is invincible."
Then, turning to his parents, he asked with a hint of helplessness, "Weren't you two traveling in Babath? What are you doing here?"
If he truly had no trump cards, then the whole family would soon be reuniting in the afterlife.
The saying "a family should stick together" almost came true right then and there.
"Son, with me here today, you won't die."
Jake pulled Julian behind him in one swift motion, his Metagross standing beside him as they both fixed their gaze on Yveltal hovering above.
"Dad, I—"
Julian started to speak but abruptly stopped when he noticed something unusual about his father and Metagross. He swallowed the rest of his words.
"The other Champions and I will hold it off. You take your mom and Love and get out of here," Jake said firmly.
When he said this, Julian really wanted to ask, "You say that, but did those Champions agree?"
Essentially, his father was asking the other Champions to sacrifice their lives just to buy him a chance to escape. Julian was left speechless by the idea.
He expected the other Champions to immediately snap back at his father's suggestion, but something entirely unexpected happened.
All sixteen Champions—some from nations allied with Drakoria, some neutral, and even those from hostile countries—stood united alongside Jake.
"Champion Walker, from a national standpoint, we may be enemies. But from the world's perspective, you are the only one who can possibly deal with Yveltal."
"So as long as you live, there is a chance to defeat it."
The one who spoke was a Champion from Gallia, who also happened to be the former king of the nation.
"Champion Walker, if you do survive, please lend a hand to my country when the time is right," added the Champion from a neutral nation.
Yveltal was a First-class Legendary; they had no hope of defeating it. Their only intention was to buy Julian a chance for survival.
As for why it had to be Julian, the reason was simple: if he survived and left Babath, free from the interference of the death energy, he would he be able to summon Kyogre. Only then would there be a possibility of defeating Yveltal.
Otherwise, if Yveltal destroyed Babath, their own nations might be next. Their families, friends, and colleagues were all in those countries.
If they united to protect Julian, they would surely die, but Julian might live. And if he lived, there was hope that their countries could survive the threat of Yveltal.
But if they didn't protect Julian, both they and Julian would perish. In that case, their nations might very well become the next Babath.
Humans were inherently selfish, but in the face of such a critical moment, these Champions from various nations had reached a unanimous consensus.
