Layla had only slept for two hours when Betty's call came in.
"Hello," she answered, rubbing her already tired eyes.
Why did she have to interrupt my sleep? So annoying! It seems like I attract annoying people to myself.
"What's up, Layla? Lectures start in less than an hour. Are you set? It sounds like you were sleeping, judging by your voice."
"Yeah, I was. I'll start preparing now. I'll call you once I'm done."
"Sure, no problem," Betty said before hanging up.
"Just five minutes, then I'll get up," Layla muttered to herself before going back to sleep.
Thirty Minutes Later
Oh no! I'm late!
Layla immediately jumped out of bed and rushed toward her wardrobe.
She quickly got dressed, fixed her hair, and applied a little red lipstick to her already attractive lips.
What a beauty!
Picking up her phone, she dialed Betty's number.
"I'm leaving now. Where are you?"
"Alright. I'll wait for you at the foot of your building," Betty replied from the other end.
Layla stepped out of her room and headed downstairs.
"Hey!" Betty shouted, waving at her.
She's such a jovial girl compared to me.
"Let's go," Layla said.
It was already dark when they left school.
The lecture had lasted three hours before their professor gave them an assignment. It was a marketing research project.
On their way home, Layla and Betty discussed the assignment and exchanged ideas.
Layla considered herself a very brilliant student. There were many things that most people didn't know but somehow, she always seemed to know them.
So, this marketing research was a piece of cake to her.
When Layla entered her room, she found Logan sitting comfortably on her bed, sipping tea.
"You can't just come into my room whenever you feel like it. So, what brings you here?"
"In case you might have forgotten about our discussion earlier today, I told you that you would start your training," Logan said, placing the cup on the table.
"Okay... So, is it now you want us to start? I'm just getting back, and besides, it's nighttime already," Layla complained.
"No, dear. We aren't starting today, but you are moving in with me today."
"What? No way! I'm not going anywhere with you."
Is this guy crazy? What is he thinking?
"It's not like I'll eat you. Why are you overreacting? My house is big enough," he said convincingly.
"But I just moved in here, and I've already paid the rent."
"You don't need to worry about that. I'll give you double the cost of renting here. How much is it?"
"Since you're offering to pay double, no problem. It cost me one hundred dollars, but I'll move in with you on some conditions. Agreed?"
"Only one hundred dollars? I'll give you one thousand."
"No, thank you. Just double it as you promised. Two hundred."
Layla held up two fingers to emphasize her point.
"Alright, then. What are the conditions?"
Layla took a breath before listing them.
"First, you can't appear in my room whenever you feel like it. You must walk in through the door, and only if I permit you.
"Second, don't cross your boundaries. By that, I mean you can't make any sexual advances toward me.
"Third, stop calling me 'little one.' My name is Layla.
"Fourth, I'll pick a room of my choice.
"Lastly, you have to promise that you'll reunite me with my parents."
These conditions shouldn't be difficult for him to accept, right?
"Alright. I have no problem with your last two conditions, but the rest seem unfair to me. I'm yours, and you are mine, so I don't think it's proper."
He looked like a lost puppy.
"Don't you want me to move in? Or I'll change my mind and stay here," Layla threatened.
"Not to worry, dear. Your conditions are perfect!"
"I promise to take you back to your parents once the time is right."
"Good. Now let me pack."
Layla paused before looking at him.
"So, what about my schooling?"
"Well, you can continue for now, but you'll stop in the future. You're already smart, so you won't need to attend classes, but you can write your exams so you can graduate.
"As for your attendance and assignments, I'll talk to your school dean. So, you have nothing to worry about.
"You'll stop attending classes in a month."
"Okay, but how do you know my dean, and will he be willing to listen to you?"
"I've never met your dean, so I don't know him.
"But I'm a demon. Not just any lowly demon, but a Demon Lord.
"One of the many things I can do as a Demon Lord is disguise and manipulation. I'll simply change my face and manipulate him into thinking I'm his superior."
He said it with a devilish grin, making him look even more handsome than usual.
"Wow! You can also do that? That's awesome!"
"Now, help me take these few boxes out. I'm done packing."
Layla looked around the room carefully to make sure she hadn't left anything behind.
"There will be no need for that. Just hug me—"
Layla didn't let him finish.
"And why should I hug you? Have you forgotten the conditions I gave you?"
"Stop jumping to conclusions and let me finish. Ahhh! I want us to teleport back to my mansion, dummy."
"Oh. You could have said so earlier."
"Well, a certain lady didn't let me finish my sentence before getting the impression that I wanted her to hug me for no reasonable reason."
"If you had spoken a bit faster and followed a different approach, I wouldn't have interrupted you!" Layla retorted, glaring at him.
"What should I have said?"
"I don't want to argue with you right now. Let's just go."
Layla deliberately dodged his question.
She moved closer and hugged him while he picked up the boxes.
In less than three seconds, they were standing in front of a massive building.
Layla stared at it in awe.
The exterior design was breathtaking.
In fact, the word beautiful was an understatement.
The building looked more like a palace than a home.
"Is this your home?"
"Yeah."
"Wow. It's wonderful. Just from the outside, I can tell the inside looks like heaven on earth!"
Layla couldn't hide her amazement.
As they walked inside, they were greeted by servants dressed in matching uniforms.
Oh my goodness!
This place is a masterpiece!
Logan must have spent billions setting up this place.
The floors were made of glass tiles, and the living room was twice the size of her adoptive family's entire house.
The walls and everything else looked incredibly luxurious.
The mansion was spacious and filled with different antiques and sculptures.
Some of the sculptures depicted creatures Layla had never seen before.
They took the elevator to another floor and arrived at a hallway lined with guest rooms.
"Take a look and pick a room for yourself. If you can't find one that suits your liking, I'll take you to the next floor."
"There will be no need for that. I'll definitely find a room I like."
Layla walked forward and checked three rooms.
But when she reached the fourth room, she instantly fell in love with it.
It was magnificent.
The room had its own small living area, painted entirely white, with comfortable sofas and a center table.
The furniture was a beautiful mixture of white and nude colors.
On the other side was another door.
Layla opened it and found a large bedroom.
There was a big bed, a dresser, a wardrobe, and a single-seater couch.
Everything came in different shades of purple, including the walls and the center rug.
She checked the bathroom.
It was just as beautiful.
"I'll take this one!" Layla exclaimed, excitement clear in her voice.
"Alright, then. I'll send a maid to bring you some toiletries. When she comes, you can ask her to get anything else you need."
With that, Logan strode out of the room, leaving Layla to explore her new surroundings.
