Chapter 3 - [ CHAPTER II (2) ]

[ Chapter II (2): "GAME DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM" ]

[ "A-AHHHH!" ] He has been floating for what felt like millennia, but to be truth it's a mere minute, but to Joshua that has never floated before in bare space— it felt like a millennia, or eternity, closest to that.

[ "Perfect timing." ] Joshua in an annoyed tone said, as he watches a series of text in blue form in front of him, before then changing seconds later. Previously, he had an idea on what was going on, but now, thanks to the texts. He now knows that's true.

[ "Crap!" ] And in that being true, he knows that his life from this moment onward would either be destructive or something great. And oh... Joshua isn't an optimist, as in, he doesn't even have a single percent of being an optimist in his body.

[ 23% DOWNLOADING MAP FEATURES ]

[ 57% DOWNLOADING SHOP MECHANIC ]

[ 89% DOWNLOADING POWER UPS ]

[ "Thank God you're downloading fast." ]

He half expected the said System to download slowly, like half three seconds per percentage. But in truth, it was more like a second per three percentage, a great trade, as the said System downloaded completely in no time.

[ MISSION FEATURE UNLOCKED! ]

[ SHOP FEATURE UNLOCKED! ]

[ INVENTORY FEATURE UNLOCKED! ]

Joshua watches as the floating text shifts from one text to another, before then completely disappearing. The little blue hue given by the text disappears alongside it, leaving only him and his thoughts in deep space.

[ "Perhaps this isn't such a bad thing, after all." ]

He tried to flap his arms to balance himself, even though at this point, his body and consciousness doesn't even know which side is the original up and which side is sideways. As everything in his vision is up, being moved by space where there is no gravity.

And thought he had suspected it earlier, due to the weirdness of his computer suddenly turning on— showing him a weird survey, which asked dozens or so of equally weird questions. He still doesn't know, that yeah, this was gonna happen.

Minutes ago he was raging at his teammates which are playing badly at Dead by Daylight, next second he finds himself sucked inside his phone, and now he is in deep space with a System... about Game Development apparently, how does that work?

[ "How do I use this thing?" ] He wondered, thankfully in him doing that, the nausea he is feeling slowly shifted out of focus. [ "Do I just scream out, 'Inventory', or something? Will that actually do the work-" ] It does.

[ INVENTORY (LVL. 1): ]

[ "Okay, alright. This System is voice activated, like those Power Rangers shows, or something." ] The text reappeared, from out of nowhere, and this time it shows him what the Inventory is. From his count, apparently it is a 5x4 box i.e. 20 slot, it could fit 20 items. To what degree? He doesn't know.

And at the moment he doesn't have anything on him that he could use to throw at the said Inventory and test it out. He doesn't have his phone. He doesn't have his wallet. He doesn't hav- [ "Oh, yeah, watch." ] But he does have his cheap watch, something he entirely forgot.

Black and gold colored, light on his wrist, and is cheap. He bought it some time ago, and he rarely used it aside for times when he isn't near his phone or computer— rare cases really, so, yeah, unused. But something he now finds use of.

[ "Catch." ]

[ INVENTORY (LVL. 1): ]

[ CHEAP WATCH ]

[ "It only cost me... something-something, I actually forgot." ] But he does remember it was cheap. Really cheap. To the point that he pities the vendor he bought it from, but hey, it's a nice watch. Even though some may call it fake.

He observes the Inventory feature of the System, as it now has a picture image of his watch. Not 3D, but is instead a crudely drawn kid-like drawing of his original watch. And in curiosity, he reached out to that image, his hand sinking the further he went.

A part of him finds this feature cool, and another was thinking about entirely inappropriate things. Either way, both parts think it's gonna be helpful. And after some time, he grasped something hard, in which he then yanked without mercy. [ "Huh, that's neat." ]

His watch, which he then observed for a moment, before then throwing it back at the Inventory; filling a slot, plus the crudely drawn picture of it appearing again, which he actually... as weird as it might actually sound, is fond of.

[ "Shop." ] Joshua in seeing that the Inventory feature of the System actually works, then turned to the other feature which was given to him— the Shop feature, which he has an idea of from the name alone. But curiously, how does that work?

[ SHOP (LVL. 1): ] [ BALANCE: 50 CREDITS ]

[ PLANT SEEDS (DAY): 100 CREDITS ]

[ HOLY HAND GRENADE: 50 CREDITS ]

[ BATMOBILE (BLUEPRINT): 500 CREDIT ]

[ UNLUCKY BLOCK: 75 CREDITS ]

[ RANDOM COMMON SKILL: 250 CREDITS ]

[ "Woah." ] For a moment a brief shine of joy was present on his face, which then disappeared as he thought about the uses of the items present in the Shop. [ "These are worthless." ] Except for the Batmobile Blueprint, that sounds fun, even though he doesn't know how that exactly works.

And at the moment, in the Shop, he couldn't buy anything aside for the Holy Hand Grenade. Something of which he doesn't know the uses of, and how to use, and when to use. At the moment, it'll be useless to him either way. So he didn't buy it.

[ "Mission." ] He then continued with the last feature, hopeful that at the very least this one would contain something useful to get him out of his predicament. And that'll be him in literal space, where no food, no water, no land, or anything is in sight aside from stars and planets far away.

[ MISSION: ]

[ PLAY THE TUTORIAL: INCOMPLETE ]

[ "Woah." ] This time the woah wasn't sarcastic, as he reads the single line of text being shown to him by the Mission tab of the System. In truth, this may be the only way for him to get out of here. Or, progress his story— starting it.

He approached the text and clicked the text, hopeful that it may start something, or do something. He was correct, as the text then disappeared, as another then appeared.

[ TO BE A GAME DEVELOPER, THE PLAYER NEEDS TO FIRST PICK A GAME TO DEVELOP: ]

[ FORTNITE ]

[ DEAD BY DAYLIGHT ]

[ DISPATCH ]

[ TERRARIA ]

[ ALAN WAKE ]

Joshua's eyes trailed at the list of games, which was 5. And out of them all, one stood out the most due to the sour memory he has of it for years. [ "Develop Dead by Daylight, you serious?" ] He would rather die, but in fairness, that is what he thinks of the other games as well. Especially Fortnite, he'll rather commit self death than develop, or even touch that.

Perhaps that is the right option here, as a developer, due to the multiple crossover it has to many other fandoms ranging from movies, to tv series, to anime, to anything. But no, he leans more on Dead by Daylight than that. Even though he knows he might regret it in the future.

[ "Fine, I'll bite." ] He clicked the second option, primarily because that is the game he is most familiar with. He doesn't know what the third option is, probably an unreleased game. The fourth option he cares for very little. And the last option... no idea at all, hasn't played it yet.

[ ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO PICK DEAD BY DAYLIGHT AS YOUR FIRST GAME, PLAYER? ]

[ YES ] [ NO ]

[ "Fairly certain, about 85%, yeah." ] Joshua sighed and clicked the yes button. Even the System embedded inside his head is having doubts about the option he chose. Perhaps any of the other choices are better, but he doesn't really care.

So Dead by Daylight it is, and in him picking that option, he prays that he may be able to do something about the influx of newbies, the Megheads, hackers, cheaters, bullies, and any all about assholishishness he experiences day-by-day playing the game in his computer.

[ GREAT! PLEASE WAIT SHORTLY AS THE SYSTEM DOWNLOADS NECESSARY RESOURCES RELATING TO 'DEAD BY DAYLIGHT' ]

[ 1% DOWNLOADING KILLER NPCS ]

[ 2% DOWNLOADING SURVIVOR NPCS ]

[ 3% DOWNLOADING MAP RESOURCES ]

Joshua watches as the System downloads the game he picked, and in seeing the slowness of the progress. He fears that his nightmares may have finally come true— the one percent per every three second fear. [ "Oh no." ] Which is in fact, real.

[ ---------- ] [ ---------- ] [ ---------- ] [ ---------- ]

[ FUN FACT: In Dead by Daylight, there are about 41 playable Killers from the oldest killer The Trapper to the newest killer The Krasue. The Legion i.e. Frank, Julie, Susie, and Joey are counted as one killer. This roster includes a mix of licensed characters from different horror franchises and original killers created by the game's developer, Behaviour Interactive. ]
