Christmas was approaching. Without anyone really noticing, 2013 had already come to an end.
Noah couldn't help but sigh. Sometimes, time felt absurdly cheap. It disappeared without warning, as if it had no value at all.
But when he looked back, he realized he had gained a lot this year. Enough that it occasionally felt unreal.
At the start of the year, Noah obtained his new weapon-the Time-Space Star of Noah. Along with it, he confirmed something that genuinely interested him.
Through this weapon, he could freely enter parallel universes.
That realization fascinated him.
To be honest, once he understood this function, Noah suddenly felt much more relaxed. Even if his strength was still insufficient, even if he hadn't fully prepared, there was always a fallback.
At worst, he could take his family and leave for another universe.
He had already been to the Star Wars world. He knew its general power ceiling. Seeking refuge there would pose no problem at all. With his current strength, Noah could even make a name for himself in that universe.
Of course, there was a prerequisite.
He needed both the Space Stone and the Time Stone.
The Space Stone might be obtainable. The Time Stone, however, was impossible for now. Unless he continued on his current path, the Ancient One would never hand such an important artifact to someone with no connection to her.
Aside from discovering parallel universes, Noah's personal strength didn't grow particularly fast this year.
But that was normal.
He was already a tier-8 top-level sorcerer. Progress slowing down was expected. Mordo and Wong were still stuck at tier 7. Advancement for sorcerers was never simple.
It wasn't just about knowledge and mental power. Magic accumulation and many other factors mattered.
Noah progressed quickly because he was cheating.
But even so, he hadn't taken shortcuts.
Not because he didn't want to. The system simply didn't offer that option.
Its greatest function was providing an immense library and a time-dilated environment. As Noah's strength increased, the time ratio doubled accordingly.
Of course, there was also the system's assistance in combat.
Domain magic.
The requirements for Domain magic were absurdly high. Even though Noah had already developed it, his own strength limited him. At tier 8, he could only activate a crude Domain manually.
With the system's help, however, he could deploy a much more complete one.
The fusion of the four elements had reached 50%.
Space and time fusion stood at 20%.
Overall, total Domain fusion was only around 10%.
The Light element still had no source.
Even so, it was far better than the less than 1% Domain he had at the beginning.
The system had already told him that once Domain fusion reached 40-50%, confronting a divine transformation would no longer be an issue.
That alone put Noah at ease.
"The path of magic really is long," Noah could only sigh.
All he could do now was wait for the system to keep progressing, while continuing his own search for the source of Light.
That was his current situation.
But this year wasn't just about that.
The British Ministry of Magic election came to an end.
The Dumbledore era officially concluded, though his spirit remained.
Hermione Granger-someone from the ordinary world-took Dumbledore's seat. And she did so with an overwhelming victory.
From that moment on, the British Ministry of Magic was effectively under Noah's control.
High-level positions were filled by his brothers, his friends, or members of the Sorcerer Alliance. At the very least, they were people aligned with him.
Noah was the greatest controller of the British magical world.
Even if he stayed in the shadows, no one would question that conclusion.
After planning and maneuvering for over twenty years, he had finally reached this point.
Britain's magical world had become his backyard.
If he wanted, he could mobilize its entire armed force.
That was no small power.
It couldn't compare to Kamar-Taj, but it still ranked among the strongest in the world.
"I never thought I'd become a behind-the-scenes boss," Noah muttered, stroking his chin. "Even though everyone knows it."
"I wonder if some unlucky transmigrator will show up and try to overthrow me."
He chuckled at the thought.
If someone really tried that, they'd probably be halfway to death the moment they opened their mouth.
Noah wasn't soft-hearted.
Overthrowing him would require offering something of equal value.
His contributions to the magical world were undeniable.
Especially the simplified meditation method that had spread worldwide.
That alone won him countless hearts.
The method came from the Star Wars world, but it fit sorcerers perfectly. And Noah placed no restrictions on it.
Anyone could use it.
The impact was enormous.
Sorcerers everywhere were grateful to him. Even those from Kamar-Taj who pointed out that it was only a simplified version didn't care.
Having something was better than having nothing.
Besides meditation, there was another major development.
The Blood-Cursed Werewolves.
Under Mordo's command, their exorcism ritual was finally completed.
The name was self-chosen. For Kamar-Taj sorcerers, it was just practice. For the werewolves, it was salvation.
They no longer had to fear turning into uncontrollable beasts.
After the first phase came the second.
Nagini and Mordo explained it clearly in advance.
They would take on a new racial name.
Druids.
They would settle in Britain's magical world. Their transformations would be recorded and studied systematically.
They had no objections.
They hated the name Blood-Cursed Werewolves anyway.
And the promise of learning magic-of gaining the power to protect themselves-was more than enough.
Over half a year of data collection followed.
The amount of data gathered was staggering.
It greatly aided the study of Dragonborn magic. In fact, it no longer even needed that name. The transformed forms weren't limited to dragons.
Loki guarded the Druids' settlement almost full-time.
After processing hundreds of thousands of data points, he even developed new ideas for Noah's magic.
It had to be said.
Loki was terrifyingly capable.
With help from his parents, he was close to completing this refinement in just over half a year.
"Having connections really is powerful," Noah said without shame. "Someone actually helped with this."
"I had to do it myself back then."
Only Noah knew how much the system had helped him.
The system, of course, didn't bother correcting him.
Beyond the magical world, the ordinary world progressed smoothly as well.
Fury officially received approval.
Along with it came a budget so large it was almost ridiculous.
Hydra had been exposed, stopped, and SHIELD effectively collapsed. Combined with the alien threat, Fury's SWORD became indispensable.
Its establishment faced almost no resistance.
Fury, flush with funding, immediately placed a massive order with Tony.
The cost was painful.
But Fury didn't care.
Tony's technology came from the Star Wars world.
It was worth it.
Desmond was busy too.
The Controller was dead.
Noah made the final decision himself after learning something from Kassandra.
Those assassin descendants weren't hers.
They were her brother's.
That revelation caught Noah off guard.
History had taken an unexpected turn.
But he didn't mind.
Compared to being forced into potato farming, this was acceptable.
Kassandra didn't care much either. Her brother had plenty of descendants.
Desmond was just one of them.
Through this, Kassandra joined Noah's side and agreed to help manage the High Table.
Her situation limited her involvement, though.
So Desmond became her proxy.
He didn't refuse.
He was already part of the High Table. The transition was smooth.
As for Wick, he chose a new identity and a new path.
Fury gave him two options.
Keanu Reeves.
Thomas Neo Anderson.
Which one he picked, Noah didn't know.
And didn't care.
He had more important things to do now.
"I wonder if this outfit works."
Noah stood in front of the mirror.
A handsome young man in his early twenties stared back. Light blond hair. Heterochromatic eyes.
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
