Chapter 480 - Chapter 480: Seeking Aid

Ronan heading for Earth?

That piece of news completely baffled Noah.

Was this guy insane?

Had he forgotten what happened the last time he set foot on Earth more than ten years ago? Or had he somehow found new confidence? Noah couldn't make sense of it. Unless Ronan had reached some kind of agreement with Thanos and planned to act under his protection.

If that was the case, then Ronan was truly finished.

Thanos was never soft-hearted. Especially not toward someone who had openly killed one of his subordinates right in front of him. It was hard to say whether Thanos hadn't already planned to deal with Ronan back then.

More importantly, Thanos himself definitely wouldn't come to Earth at this moment.

The Ancient One was still alive.

Odin was still alive.

Coming now would be suicide.

Ronan was more likely a pawn. Either to probe the Ancient One and Odin's tolerance, or to test the defensive strength of Earth and Asgard.

No matter how you looked at it, Ronan wasn't coming back alive.

"What an unlucky bastard," Noah thought as he walked toward Odin's palace. "If you're going to side with someone, why Thanos? And with that arrogant 'we're just cooperating' attitude on top of it. That's not courage. That's asking to die."

When Noah led Wong into the grand hall, what he saw left him stunned.

Peter Quill.

A naked hulk of a man.

A green-skinned woman.

A raccoon.

And a small treeling sitting in a pot.

What was this lineup?

And wasn't Groot supposed to be nearly two meters tall? How had he turned into a tiny sapling?

Noah also noticed something else.

Every single one of them looked battered.

"I say," Noah asked Peter, frowning. "What happened to you? You look like you barely escaped with your lives."

"That's... pretty accurate," Peter replied with an awkward smile. "I didn't expect to run into you in Asgard."

"That's strange?" Noah tilted his head. "Me being in Asgard is hard to understand? More importantly, why are you all in this state? What happened after we split up?"

"Well... it's a long story."

Peter's expression grew even more awkward as he began recounting everything.

After separating from Noah, he'd planned to leave Xandar. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side. Rocket and Groot still set their sights on him.

Worse yet, because Yondu had mentioned the Orb job, Ronan's men went to Morag and found nothing. Naturally, they concluded Peter was the one who'd completed the mission.

Gamora came after him as well.

What left Noah speechless was that, just like before, Peter got thrown into prison.

And what left him even more speechless-

Peter fell for Gamora at first sight again.

He directly told her where the gem was.

That single sentence put Gamora completely at ease.

The Power Stone was in Asgard.

And Asgard was a place even Thanos wouldn't casually provoke.

From that perspective, the gem was extremely safe.

Naturally, none of them wanted to rot in prison.

After befriending Drax the Destroyer, they staged a breakout.

Their luck was good. Amid the chaos, they escaped.

Then Ronan personally caught up to them.

Drax, who had a blood feud with Ronan, charged without hesitation.

The result was obvious.

If Yondu and his crew hadn't arrived in time, the so-called Guardians of the Galaxy would've died before officially forming.

Yondu wanted the Orb.

But when he heard it was now in Asgard's hands, his crew exploded in anger.

In the end, Yondu forced Peter to lead the way to Asgard, hoping to reclaim it.

"So you came," Noah said, tilting his head at Peter. "Then where's Ronan? Didn't you say he went to Earth?"

"Uh... no."

Peter scratched his head, expression painfully awkward.

"Listen, buddy. I didn't want to lie. But if I didn't say that, you probably wouldn't have seen us, right?"

"Whether I'd see you or not aside," Noah sighed, ignoring Peter's darkening expression, "you should know that lying like this could've left your corpse floating in space."

"So one last question."

"Where did Ronan go?"

"He didn't come this way," Peter said helplessly. "He went to Xandar. He's planning to destroy it."

So Ronan wasn't completely brain-dead.

Still stupid-but not stupid enough to forget how he'd been scared senseless and chased off like a dog.

It seemed he didn't believe Peter's words at all.

Either out of fear of provoking Earth, to satisfy Thanos, or simply to fulfill his own obsession with destroying Xandar, Ronan chose the direct route.

A surprise attack.

If that happened, Xandar was finished.

"Then why are you here?" Thor finally spoke up. "You're not actually planning to ask us for the Infinity Stone, are you?"

"Uh..."

Peter glanced around.

No one spoke.

Even Rocket, usually the loudest, stayed silent.

He might be reckless, but he wasn't stupid. Stealing batteries from the Sovereign was one thing. Causing trouble in Asgard was another.

If he died here, he wouldn't even die cleanly.

With all his modifications, he'd probably end up as a research specimen.

Left with no choice, Peter spoke.

"Of course not. The Infinity Stone is far safer here than anywhere else."

"That's good," Noah nodded. "Although for some reason, I feel like you're lying."

"But it doesn't matter."

"Is Yondu giving you trouble? Do you want me to deal with him for you?"

Noah said it casually, with no real intention of acting.

He knew Yondu genuinely cared about Peter.

Peter Quill was a professional 'Dad Destroyer,' but Noah didn't want to erase the only person truly sincere to him.

Besides, Noah remembered what came later.

Peter and Yondu together killed Ego.

A Celestial.

Hard to believe, but it happened.

If Noah had to judge, Ego was at least Tier 10.

Maybe higher.

And yet he died that way.

Truly unlucky.

As for Ego's talk about being connected to light, Noah chose not to think about it. A planetary lifeform relying on solar radiation wasn't exactly the same as light-element power.

Whether he'd even be a match was uncertain.

As for Yondu, keeping him alive wasn't a bad thing.

With Yondu watching him, Peter probably wouldn't have time to cause more disasters.

Better he stay a harmless idiot than become a world-ending threat again.

"This..." Peter hesitated, clearly tempted, then shook his head. "Forget it. Let's talk about something else."

"Like what?" Noah asked.

"Ronan is attacking Xandar," Peter said quickly. "Aren't you going to do something? If he succeeds, Xandar will be destroyed. You know how the Kree are."

"I know," Noah replied calmly. "But why are you asking me?"

"Shouldn't you be asking Thor?"

He glanced at Peter oddly.

Only then did Noah realize.

Peter had come to Asgard for help.

But since Noah was the one talking to him, he could only speak to Noah.

Noah rubbed his chin.

Maybe he really was too domineering lately.

But he didn't care.

As a future Sorcerer Supreme, being indecisive wasn't an option.

And speaking of invasions...

Noah vaguely remembered that Ego had quietly interfered with a lot of things on Earth.

"Looks like I'll need to clean that up properly when I get back," Noah thought. "Missouri, right?"

He lifted his gaze.

Thor.

Peter.

And Odin, seated to the side, deep in thought.

Noah noticed Odin had been watching Peter earlier.

It seemed the old king had noticed something.

"Father," Thor asked hesitantly, clearly conflicted. "What do you think?"

"You want to go?" Odin asked, snapping out of his thoughts, a faint smile on his face.

"Yes, Father. We have no obligation to protect Xandar. No alliance. But-"

"If you want to go," Odin said calmly, "then go."

"Huh?"

"It's a good chance," Odin continued, "to let the universe witness the deterrence of Asgard's next generation."
