With Odin's permission, Thor was ecstatic.
Ever since obtaining the Power Stone, he hadn't really had a chance to properly test his strength. But in Noah's view, there was no need to test anything at all.
The Power Stone was simply too violent.
It was outright bullying.
If it were the old Thor, he might still need to exchange a few blows with Ronan. But now?
Could Ronan even withstand a single axe swing?
Noah seriously doubted it.
If Thor went all out, Ronan probably wouldn't even survive Noah himself, let alone Thor wielding the Power Stone. And if Thor, out of caution, decided to open with the Power Stone?
That would be entertaining.
His flagship, along with countless subordinates, would likely be reduced to dust in a single strike.
The more Noah thought about it, the more he felt Thor might actually do something like that. Especially with Odin's hints being so obvious.
Noah stroked his chin.
This wouldn't do.
He still wanted to have a proper conversation with Ronan.
"Thor, leave Ronan to me," Noah said directly.
"Ronan?" Thor tilted his head, looking confused. "What do you want to talk to him about?"
"When you were causing trouble back then, he secretly slipped into Earth," Noah replied calmly. "My teacher dealt with him."
"Wow," Thor exclaimed. "He's still alive? That's impressive."
"So this time, I'll deal with him personally," Noah continued. "And I want to ask him a few things."
"No problem," Thor nodded without hesitation. "Sounds good."
Just like that, the two of them assigned targets while chatting casually, as if Ronan's entire force didn't matter at all.
Wong was a little uneasy, but he didn't say much.
Peter and the others, on the other hand, were clearly uncomfortable.
They felt tricked.
Asgard was easy to talk to. Odin looked like a kind old grandfather. But the number of people they sent?
Three.
Just three.
Wasn't this basically a joke?
To Peter, it felt like being sent to die.
Worse still, Peter knew Noah could use spatial magic. If things went wrong, Noah could just leave.
So who would be left behind?
Him.
But Peter didn't dare say anything.
He swallowed it.
Soon, they arrived at Yondu's ship.
Noah finally met Peter Quill's adoptive father.
Blue skin. A mouth full of gold teeth.
To be honest, it was hard for Noah to have a good first impression.
Still, Noah couldn't deny one thing.
This man's performance in the second movie had been genuinely moving. Even Noah had almost cried during that funeral scene.
Ravagers might have terrible reputations, but they still had their own rules.
"You brought people?" Yondu froze when he saw them. "Did you get the Orb?"
"Uh..." Peter hesitated. After a moment, he said, "No. They don't plan to hand it over."
"Huh." Yondu didn't seem surprised. His gaze shifted to Thor, Noah, and Wong. "So you're not handing it over, and you didn't bring troops. Your excellency seems very confident."
"To you, we might look arrogant," Noah said lightly. "But honestly, that's just how insignificant you are to us."
"We're only here for a ride. Peter said you hired us for a large sum to deal with Ronan. So we came."
"Me?" Peter's face went pale.
Hired you?
For a large sum?
He hadn't said a word!
But the moment he opened his mouth, Noah shot him a look.
Peter immediately shut up.
Not even a fart came out.
Drax tried to speak, but Rocket slapped a hand over his mouth.
"Oh?" Yondu stared at Noah, then burst out laughing. "That's the funniest thing I've heard all day."
"We have no intention of making enemies with Asgard," Yondu said coldly. "If we get involved in something like this, we won't be able to operate in the galaxy anymore. You should leave."
"And the money?" Noah asked.
He glanced at Thor.
Thor was looking at him with clear interest.
Noah had successfully led him astray.
Which was perfect.
Less interference later.
"What money?" Yondu stared, then finally realized what Noah meant. He was both angry and amused. "You're asking us for money?"
"Yes," Noah nodded, then pointed at Peter, who looked like he wanted to swear innocence. "He said you hired us."
"That's the least funny joke I've ever heard," Yondu shook his head.
Then he turned to his crew.
"Send them down. They're guests from Asgard. Be careful. If you still want to survive in this galaxy."
"So you're not paying?" Noah tilted his head, then looked at Wong. "Haven't seen you fight in a while. Interested?"
"You really know how to stir trouble," Wong muttered, rolling his eyes.
Then he walked forward.
Xandar's sky was blue.
The weather was perfect.
Yondu's mood was not.
They were sitting in a bar, drinking.
Looking back at Noah and the others, fear filled Yondu's eyes.
He had been terrified.
Just ten minutes ago, his entire ship had been beaten down by that seemingly plump, simple-looking man.
Not beaten.
Crushed.
Every Ravager on board was taken out.
Effortlessly.
What made it worse was that Yondu could tell the man was holding back.
Like an adult playing with an infant.
No.
Like an infant playing with a toy.
Yondu had even tried a sneak attack.
His whistle arrow hadn't even scratched the man.
Firearms were useless.
Everything was useless.
Utterly helpless, Yondu had no choice but to concede.
He glared at Peter.
Peter looked innocent.
Yondu felt cursed.
He knew Peter hadn't hired them. These people were just looking for an excuse.
An excuse to act on Xandar.
The only question was why.
To stop Ronan?
Or to grab a share afterward?
Either way, it didn't matter.
Ravagers already had terrible reputations.
If they were involved, there would be no rewards.
Only blame.
And when Yondu learned that the blond man was Odin's son-the Prince of Asgard-his mood worsened.
Asgard's heir had shown up.
This was no longer a simple incident.
This was an attack on Xandar.
Yondu felt trapped in a whirlpool.
The bitterness made him too tired to even scold Peter.
He even regretted letting Peter try to buy the Orb back.
"Captain," Kraglin whispered. "What do we do now?"
"What else?" Yondu sighed. "Let them handle it. These big shots don't think like us."
"Damn Peter," Kraglin muttered.
"Don't be stupid," Yondu shook his head. "He's probably miserable too."
"He got dragged into this for nothing."
Kraglin froze, then nodded.
He wasn't particularly smart, but he was loyal.
When others betrayed Yondu, only he stayed.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have survived long enough to clean up their own ship.
Then-
An air raid siren wailed across Xandar.
Evacuation orders echoed through the city.
The crowd panicked.
Yondu stood up and patted Kraglin's shoulder.
"This is probably when we take the blame," he said quietly.
He walked outside.
The sky was covered by a massive black warship.
Ronan had arrived.
He had come to destroy Xandar.
"If I really become a public enemy of the universe," Yondu thought, "I'd rather die."
"I wonder if those bastards would even hold a funeral for me."
Then-
He froze.
A figure appeared in the sky.
Golden light spread outward.
It transformed into a colossal dragon.
And in the next instant-
Ronan's massive warship exploded.
