Chapter 482 - Chapter 482: Far Too Fragile

"Looks like they're here," Noah said with a smile and a shrug.

He sat in Xandar's control room, watching the massive black warship projected across the giant screen. He vaguely remembered its name-Dark Star, Black Star, something suitably ominous. The exact wording didn't matter.

What mattered was its presence.

The ship loomed like a living predator, metal wings flexing as if preparing to strike. Its design was undeniably impressive. Powerful. Intimidating.

Unfortunately for it, Noah had already seen better.

Star Wars technology had raised his standards. That alone drained most of his interest. Right now, the only thing Noah cared about was whether Ronan knew anything about Ego.

He hadn't thought about it before. But not long ago, Noah remembered Ego's words-the ability to connect with light. That memory made him curious. If Ronan knew something, Noah would extract his soul and read it himself.

If not?

Then Ronan could die.

Either way, Ronan wasn't leaving alive.

As for whether the Kree would cause trouble afterward?

Thor was standing right there.

Problems like that were made for Asgardians. Thor was tall, broad, and perfectly suited to being blamed. Noah was very satisfied with this arrangement. Thor wouldn't mind.

If the Kree had an issue, they could take it up with Asgard.

Odin had ruled peacefully for millennia, but that peace had been forged through blood. Mountains of it. Seas of it. The old king's hands were stained deeply enough to drown half the galaxy.

"Your Excellencies, Thor and Fénnir," the Nova Corps commanding officer said, stepping forward. "I'll order my pilots to sortie immediately."

She was already doing it.

Noah noticed the movement before she finished speaking. The pilots had begun deploying long before she came over. He shook his head slightly. It was obvious she didn't trust them.

That was fair.

Three people claiming to be hired reinforcements didn't inspire confidence. From her perspective, Noah and his group were at best intelligence couriers.

Xandar was facing the Kree's most dangerous fanatic.

Desperation didn't mean abandoning reason.

If Asgard had sent an army, that would've been different. If Odin himself had appeared, there would've been no question. But a prince?

Thor was strong. Everyone knew that. And the Nova Corps had records. Asgard's "peaceful" reputation was recent. Long ago, it had been a peace enforced by overwhelming force.

Thor understood it.

So did Noah.

Wong didn't care in the slightest.

As the commanding officer turned away, Noah spoke.

"Have your troops retreat," he said calmly. "Otherwise, I won't be responsible for accidents."

She stopped and turned back.

"What do you mean, Your Excellency?"

"A friendly warning," Noah replied. "I'm from Earth."

"Earth?" She frowned.

She knew Earth. Primitive technology. Dangerous magic. A world that produced legends. Mages who wandered the stars. And above all-

The Supreme Sorcerer.

Her expression shifted as realization set in.

"He came to Earth causing trouble once," Noah continued. A faint golden glow began to rise from his body. "My teacher dealt with him. My teacher is the Supreme Sorcerer."

The room went silent.

"What...?"

One was the Prince of Asgard.

The other was the disciple of the Supreme Sorcerer.

The commanding officer felt dizzy. Ronan's luck had to be catastrophic to draw the attention of both.

"But he ran fast last time," Noah said.

A ring of light opened in front of him, revealing the open sky beyond.

"This time, I don't want him running."

"So..." The officer swallowed.

"So pull your people back."

Noah stepped forward.

"Otherwise, you'll be collecting bodies."

The light vanished.

So did Noah.

The control room stayed silent.

No one moved.

They couldn't understand where that confidence came from. That warship was capable of annihilating Xandar.

Then-

"Damn it!"

Thor suddenly cursed and bolted for the exit.

The room froze again.

They all turned toward Wong, who hadn't moved at all.

"What... what's wrong with them?" the commanding officer asked carefully.

"Probably," Wong said mildly, watching the screen, "Thor just realized Noah stole his kill."

"...Stole his kill?"

They didn't understand.

But they would.

Facing the colossal warship, Noah felt nothing.

He had completely forgotten about letting Thor handle the mooks and saving Ronan for later.

Golden light erupted around him.

Black runes spiraled outward.

In an instant, a massive dragon took form.

The temperature across Xandar spiked violently. It felt like the sun had crashed into the planet. Even civilians hiding deep underground felt the heat.

The warship reacted immediately.

Cannons aligned.

Target locked.

Noah didn't wait.

The fire dragon surged forward.

At the peak of eighth-tier power, Noah didn't need complicated spells. Even his simplest techniques carried catastrophic force. This dragon alone had taken time to shape.

It was not a joke.

The roar split the sky.

Nova Corps pilots who had just launched were forced to retreat immediately. The collision between Noah's magic and the warship obliterated everything nearby.

The result was absolute.

Ronan's ship didn't explode.

It vanished.

"Why is it so fragile?" Noah muttered, staring at the blazing void.

He had used his standard output. The same one he used sparring with Thor.

That was it.

"Damn it, Noah!" Thor's voice boomed through the comms. "You went too far!"

"Oh-right," Noah said. "Sorry. But seriously, I don't get it. It's way too fragile. Ronan's probably gone too."

"Fragile?" Thor snapped. "Then maybe control your magic better!"

"I use this exact output on you," Noah shot back. "If anything, your physique is just absurdly durable."

"...Thanks. But you still stole my kill."

"Can you stop saying that?" Noah said irritably. "Ronan might be vaporized. I still had questions for him!"
