Chapter 589 - Chapter 589: Stephen Strange's Steady Advancement

Teaching Stephen Strange wasn't difficult.

Stephen was intelligent.

More importantly, he knew how to think.

A sharp mind and strong reasoning were the basic requirements of a good sorcerer.

Stephen clearly had both.

That spared Noah a lot of trouble.

Of course, Stephen still asked questions that felt... foolish to Noah now.

But that was normal.

Every sorcerer went through the same stage.

Ignorance before understanding.

Even Noah, relatively speaking, was still ignorant.

So he taught patiently.

Without reservation.

Time passed quietly.

Before anyone noticed, Stephen had made astonishing progress.

Under Noah's guidance, Stephen could already use the Sling Ring to travel between specific locations.

Not far ones-but precise ones.

His limitation was simple.

Insufficient magical energy.

That couldn't be helped.

Stephen had only been practicing meditation for less than half a year.

Compared to the original version-who trained for over a year-there was a difference.

But it wasn't big.

Noah even began considering something.

That red cloak in the Sanctum's display case.

The Cloak of Levitation.

Whoever made it had clearly been eccentric.

Giving a piece of equipment a degree of consciousness wasn't exactly normal.

It was interesting.

But unnecessary for Noah.

Its upper limit was obvious.

Good abilities, but nothing he truly needed.

More importantly, it didn't recognize him.

Noah had tried.

And been mercilessly rejected.

So he tossed it into the display case and ignored it.

Waiting for the day it acknowledged someone else.

"The upper limit's fine," Noah recalled. "Just useless to me. And the temper's terrible."

It could fly.

Reduce magical burden.

Overall, solid equipment.

Whether it could be upgraded later-that remained to be seen.

Thinking it through, Noah had already decided its future.

Return it to its rightful owner.

Letting it gather dust made no sense.

At least this way, it would be used properly.

And maybe restore some of Doctor Strange's image.

"...Actually, that image is already ruined."

Noah rubbed his face.

Stephen's current appearance was painful to look at.

"This guy might as well cosplay Superman. Blue outfit, red cape. Just missing the red briefs."

The thought cheered Noah up.

He even wondered if Stephen should use magic to straighten that permed hair when transforming into Doctor Strange.

Or maybe hair oil.

With that thought, Noah opened a portal.

He reached in and pulled out the red cloak.

Space twisted.

In the next moment, Noah appeared in front of Stephen, who was still practicing seriously.

"Mentor."

Stephen immediately bowed.

He was used to Noah's sudden appearances.

"Mmm." Noah nodded. "Very diligent."

He casually tossed the cloak over.

"Here. Take this."

"Thank you, Mentor."

Stephen accepted it, then paused.

"What is this?"

"A very interesting little thing," Noah said casually. "Take it. It'll be very useful to you."

Stephen nodded.

If Noah said it was useful, he believed it.

He could figure out the rest later.

"Oh, right," Noah continued. "You've been doing well. I think your lessons are basically complete."

Stephen froze.

"Mentor?"

"Don't interrupt," Noah said calmly. "I've taught you almost everything written in books, and everything you didn't understand. The rest-you'll need to learn on your own."

Stephen hesitated.

"But-"

"Listen carefully," Noah said with a smile. "Among beginners, you're already very good. But don't forget-you're still a beginner."

"What you need now isn't more new knowledge. It's mastery."

Stephen went quiet.

Then he nodded.

"I understand. I know what I should do."

Noah smiled.

Good.

That saved him a long lecture.

At this stage, Stephen needed consolidation, not expansion.

Learning spells he couldn't properly use would only waste time.

Stephen didn't linger.

He raised his hand and drew a circle.

The Sling Ring reacted.

A portal opened.

His technique was already smooth.

No one had thrown him onto Mount Everest.

He learned it himself.

Having sorcerers exposed to the public early really did have benefits.

At the very least, it saved Noah a lot of trouble.

Comparing this Stephen to the one taught by the Ancient One in the original story-

Noah shook his head.

If it were that version, he might've strangled him by now.

As Stephen was about to leave, Noah suddenly spoke.

"Oh, right. Stephen."

"Yes, Mentor?"

"Say hello to Mr. Watson for me."

Stephen blinked, then smiled.

"No problem. John will be happy."

"Probably." Noah shrugged. "And tell him-your story is great. I really like it."

"...Story?"

Stephen's mouth twitched.

"Alright. I'll pass it on."
