Chapter 2 - Memories

"Hey, uh, what was all that screaming about? You alright?" said the man standing outside the door to Leon's apartment room. The man had black hair and brown eyes. He looked ordinary.

Based on the memories of the original owner of this body, this is the guy next door. Uh, I don't remember his name…

"...Everything's fine, I was just watching a movie. It was at the scene where the main character was getting possessed and replaced." Leon said with a kind smile. Before opening his front door, he wiped off the blood, saliva, and tears that were on his face.

"Uh, sure…" And with that, Leon slowly closed the door as his neighbor walked away.

Leon took a seat on the sofa again, trying to "organize" his "memories."

Meanwhile, Leon's neighbor from earlier was lost in his thoughts. As he opened the door to his apartment, he said in his mind:

Was that guy really that talkative? The few times I talked with him, he barely responded to what I was saying…

7:05 a.m.

Leon had just exited the shower in a fresh set of clothes. In the time he was in the shower, he recalled more of the memories of the original owner of his body. He was once again seated on the sofa, letting his thoughts wander.

This world—no, this… "city" is a space organization called Umbrellas… Wait, I already know this. Hm… The organization's goal and purpose is to fight and eradicate an evil and invasive alien species… known as "Annihiliths"...

As for me, I'm a "Visitor," a.k.a. Umbrella's elite operatives. Umbrellas will send Visitors to worlds being attacked or being invaded by Annihiliths, and eradicate them. There are six class-types for Visitors. Mage-type, Fighter-type, Assassin-type, Tank-type, Ranger-type, and Healer-type…

What are these names? It's like I'm in a video game! Uh, what class-type am I again…? Oh, right, Mage…

Well… Mages are fine… I get to use magic and whatnot… But Assassin sounds a lot cooler…

Suddenly, Leon seemed to remember something as he paused. He continued,

Wait, this all means I'll have to fight… But I don't know how to— oh, right, I got the memories of the original owner of this body… But since I transmigrated, will I still know how to fight? Maybe all that "muscle memory" and stuff got reset when I transmigrated…

Leon paused once more, recalling the past battles of the original Donovan.

Sigh, I'll just figure this out once I get out there in the field.

Leon stood up, walking over to the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee.

It was currently Saturday, 18th of January. From the memories of the original Donovan, Leon knew that it was the same "routine" back in his original world. Monday to Friday are work days, and Saturday to Sunday are the weekends, where people get to rest.

After preparing himself a cup of coffee, he went over to the glass door, and entered the balcony. He sat on a chair, the cup of coffee in his right hand and his phone in his left.

The wind was blowing gently. It made one feel as if they were in a mother's embrace. While figuring out how his phone works through the original Donovan's memories, Leon once again recalled a detail.

Although I have the memories of the original Donovan, I still know almost nothing about this city. Right, the original never bothered with history… I can go and make a quick search on Google… Heh, it's surprising Google exists here.

Wait a minute…

Leon put down the cup of coffee on the small metal table next to him. Turning off his phone, he once again let his thoughts wander.

There are so many similarities to Earth and this city… Could it be I transmigrated, but into the future? It was still 2025 in my previous life as Leon Valentin… Or maybe it's something simple as just a different universe. I have to find out and make sure.

If I want to return "home," then I have to unravel every mystery…

Leon immediately turned on his phone and made a quick search on Google. He typed on the search bar the words: GTA 6.

But to his surprise, there were no results for GTA 6! He continued making searches of video games he used to play, movies he watched, actors and celebrities, but he couldn't find any of them!

Okay, so it really is a different universe! The multiverse exists?! No, wait, something's odd. In alternate universes, aren't people supposed to have an "alternate version" of themselves? Then why aren't there any here, even a single one…?

After a few seconds, Leon sighed and grabbed his cup of coffee. His head was starting to hurt because of how much he's letting its gears turn. Taking a sip, he said inwardly,

This is all too much for my brain.

With that, he stood up and went back inside. Closing the sliding glass door, he finished his cup of coffee.

He put the empty cup back on the table in the kitchen. Closing his eyes, he tried to remember all the times he fought in the past, the countless Annihiliths he exterminated, the missions he accomplished, and the life or death situations he got himself in.

I don't want my first mission after transmigration to end in failure simply because I relied on my "memories," thinking I'll still know how to fight because of it and then losing in a fight with an Annihilith… I have to practice with my powers immediately…

Leon put down his phone, and walked over to a button on the wall located in the kitchen. Next to the button were the words: Training Dummy.

Pressing the button, Leon took a step back as the wall opened up like a door, and a metallic figure walked out. It had a featureless face, its skin made of metal.

With an exhale, Leon put up a fighting stance. Then, he swung his arm, landing a clean jab on the metallic robot's right jaw.

As his fist connected to the robot's jaw, its head suddenly came off! But before the head could even fall to the floor, it froze in midair. Then, the head disappeared, appearing right back on the robot. This all happened in two or three seconds.

Heh, since it's 2118, the technology is no doubt more advanced. They even have a self-repairing training dummy…

Also, I forgot I'm actually strong… If this were a video game, I would've ignored my physical stats and put it all on my magic…

Leon turned his head, looking at the tall and large mirror again. Walking over to it, he took off his shirt and inspected his muscular and well-built body. He did some flexes and poses, trying to mimic those bodybuilders that he saw while scrolling on his phone in his original world.

Guess I'm pretty lucky that I transmigrated in my dream body…

He smiled as he did some more poses. In his previous life as Leon Valentin, he was getting a bit chubby, and he was no more than 5'6". But here, in the body of Donovan Volgard, he's a smoking hot, 5'11" muscular man.

I'm so tall now too…

Suddenly, he shook his head and sighed.

No good, I'm getting distracted. I have to get back to trying to rekindle my fighting skills.

Leon put on his shirt as he walked over to the training dummy. Then, he closed his eyes, going through his "memories." He slowly started to feel some kind of energy surging through his veins.

At that moment, he opened his eyes and let out a "Ha!" as he pointed his palm at the training dummy. But nothing happened.

Uh… What the? Oh, right!

Leon looked around his room, and saw a black umbrella lying beside his bed. He walked over and picked it up. Then, he remembered what this umbrella does.

It's a Visitor's main weapon… It has the ability to teleport a Visitor to their designated world… And… it's required for activating spells!

He quickly went back to the training dummy. With his umbrella in his right hand, he closed his eyes once more.

After a few seconds, he raised his left hand, pointing the tip of his index finger at the metal robot.

Suddenly, brief sparks of lightning appeared and surrounded his index finger.
