"We will additionally form an anti-tank company, and Sidorov will be the commander of it."
"Besides, the HMG will be directly under the command of the battalion. I will deploy them by myself."
"Same to the mortars, they will also be directly under the command of the battalion."
After some time of using his RTS view, Gromov understood.
The best way of making his cheat useful is still having artillery.
Maybe it is still good when becoming a commander of a tank, as the visual normally is restricted in it.
Yet, it has a limited function.
Every time he sees where the enemies are gathered or densely stay, there is nothing he can do, he does not have an artillery unit.
Gromov has already started to imagine how much damage he can cause and how strong his cheat can be after receiving some stronger artillery.
152mm ML20 howitzer, the 132mm M-13 'Katyusha' multiple rocket launcher, and the 203mm B-4 howitzer.
All these, if he could have had them, every time they fire, Gromov is confident that they can destroy at least half of the enemy's infantry battalion.
Gromov shakes his head, bringing himself back to reality. Everything was still too far to talk about it.
"That's all for now. Dismiss."
When everyone leaves, Gromov decided to have a look at the landscape here and the area around the villages that he will need to defend.
For that, he called the squad leader, who was the garrison here and Kirov.
He has already got the map of the area he will need to defend.
It is not small, and he does not have enough men to fill all the gaps.
There are more than 10 small villages that he is supposed to defend.
However, the main places they would need to defend are a small town, Brusiliv.
This is not a strategic place that acts as an important transport hub.
But the existence of this small town could threaten the German column that was trying to launch its assault on Kyiv.
If the German takes down these places, they can connect both of their north and south arrows that depart from Zythomyr together.
"Every village has only a few tens of houses, while Bursiliv is the biggest and has more than a hundred."
Soon, Gromov reached the centre of Brusiliv. Again, it was a church, and its tower acts as the highest point here.
Despite having its RTS view, as a commander, it is better to see everything with yourself.
When Gromov stands on the tower, what he can see is just an endless plain with mostly some trees and wooded lines.
How is he going to stop the German column with only a few RPG and two KV?
The villages are dispersed, reinforcement from Brusiliv is unlikely to arrive in time before all the garrison are killed.
Or maybe not all villages should be defended. Gromov thinks.
He glanced at Kirov. Would he agree?
"Comrade Commissar, we can't hold all the villages with our current status."
"I suggest shrinking the defence line, concentrating our forces. It should be built around Brusiliv."
"If we want to stop the German column from the north and south direction, then neither can we stop."
"But if we concentrated our forces, we could stop at least one enemy from the north."
Kirov listened and only replied with one word.
"Continued."
Gromov nodded.
"Comrade commissar, you may have a look at the map. Zhytomyr has east and southeast exits."
"When the enemies depart from there, they will arrive in our North and South direction."
Gromov first showed Kirov the map of Zhytomyr, then the map of their defence area.
"Our town is closer to the road on the north. If the German wants to storm Kyiv, of course, they can bypass us, but it will still be a better option for them to take us down first."
"While for the Germans at the south, there is no point for them to launch an armoured assault on us, but mostly infantry only. "
"They must put their armoured forces to storm another town."
Kirov nodded and asked.
"So what exactly is your plan to stop the German armoured column and infantry? I believe they will not fall on the same trick again."
Gromov agreed and told his plan.
"Yes, you are right, commissar. Instead, I believe they are well prepared. They are going to bombard the town with their artillery first, and only launch their ground attack."
"And I planned to create a tunnel system in the village."
In most of the villages in Eastern Europe, there is a basement for them to store supplies and food during winter.
"What we will have to do is connect all the basements, which I believe we would have enough time to do."
There are only a few more hours left until the sun rises, which will also be the signal for Germany to launch their attack.
Kirov looks at Gromov. There is one thought in his mind. What is this young man thinking about all the time?
"Brilliant idea, I will inform our men to do it now."
The order was quickly issued to everyone.
But before that, Gromov also ordered to give up some of the villages that are too small and not efficient for them to defend.
Only those satellite villages around Bilosyiv are defended.
The tunnel will first be constructed in each village, and also in Brusiliv itself.
Of course, Gromov hopes that the tunnel between villages and Brusiliv can be connected, but he does not have enough time for that.
"And also, both HMG will be deployed in the town, same as the two mortars and tanks."
"Ask all of them to prepare for extra reserve positions. They will need to change whenever a battle has finished."
These three are all the priority targets on the battlefield. After they expose themselves, the enemy's artillery or air force will destroy them first, and continue to launch an assault.
