Europe.
A sudden, thick fog blanketed the battlefield, blinding everyone's vision.
"What a boring trick."
Hela sneered. From beneath her feet, countless black stone spikes surged upward, carefully avoiding the mutant army behind her.
"Ahhh!"
"Goddess of Death, you're attacking the wrong people!"
"We're the mutant army!"
"The enemies are behind you—!"
The fog abruptly cleared.
What appeared before Hela was her own mutant army.
The wounded Iceman… the Human Torch impaled mid-air… Mystique, screaming in pain with her lower half pierced…
All of them looked at her in rage and despair.
"Is that so?"
A flicker of boredom passed through Hela's eyes.
The injured mutants were all impaled through vital points by the rising spikes.
"..."
Behind her, the real Bobby and John instinctively touched their heads. Still intact.
Raven squeezed her thighs together awkwardly.
Even knowing it was fake, they couldn't help but feel the pain.
"That's terrifying… I guess only the leader could tame a woman like that," muttered Stinger.
But the moment he finished speaking, he felt a cold, bone-chilling gaze lock onto him. He froze. Those nearby quietly stepped a few paces away.
"When we get back to Mars, come see me at the training grounds—for extra practice," Hela said in a tone that allowed no objections.
"Y-Yes, ma'am…"
Stinger looked miserable. Curse his loose tongue—no idea how many times he'd die in this extra session.
Hela withdrew her gaze. The corpses hanging on the spikes had transformed into Skrulls.
In the sky,
A massive warship appeared.
The enemy returned—this time led by Professor X, Magneto, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
They weren't sneaking around anymore. This was a direct assault.
"Kill them all!"
The mutant army charged out with equal aggression.
Hela soared toward the warship.
In the East.
Boom!
A golden figure plummeted from the sky like a meteor, crashing into a mountain.
The mountain shattered under the impact. Rocks exploded, dust billowed.
Captain Marvel stood up, her beautiful face slightly bruised. A red gemstone glowed from the center of her brow.
"Who are you?!"
Neither she nor Mr. Sinister could've imagined such a powerful warrior remained hidden in the East.
"I am the People's Hero. Today, let me be your death!"
Floating in the air, the People's Hero had five red stars emblazoned across his chest.
A flash of white arc light crossed the sky—Captain Marvel barely saw a glowing white fist before it collided with her.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
On Mount Everest, centuries of accumulated snow began to collapse from the shockwaves. Snow cascaded down like a white waterfall, an awe-inspiring sight.
Antarctica.
A massive city appeared.
"For the All-Father!"
The city gates burst open. Eight new Hammer Priests led countless monsters, charging toward the Asgardian army.
"For the God-King!"
Heimdall raised his sword and roared, leading his forces forward.
Jörmungandr (The Serpent) stood coldly above the blood-soaked battlefield.
Too little. There's not enough fear!
He raised the Serpent's Fang. Black lightning shot from the staff and spread through the sky, forming a colossal thunder-tree.
"Damn it!"
Heimdall's expression darkened as he prepared to summon the Bifrost to block the blow.
Just then, a green supersonic jet streaked toward the Serpent.
Boom!
The jet exploded upon reaching him. The thunderous explosion and blinding fireball interrupted the Serpent's attack.
"Hello, Serpent. There's something I'd like to talk to you about," said Banner, stepping forward in a green research robe.
"What is it?"
Faced with a strong foe, the Serpent showed uncharacteristic patience.
"It's about bullying the weak," Banner replied calmly. Then he said silently to himself:
"I'm counting on you, Professor X."
[To me, this is no trouble at all. But I cannot guarantee there will be no side effects.]
It's alright. I have other ways to deal with it.
[Understood.]
Professor X's voice vanished, replaced by another—Banner's own.
He never thought he'd be the one to create a new personality.
I don't want anyone else to get hurt…I want this war to end…I want the world to be better…I hope…
"Nonsense!"
Seeing Banner lose consciousness, the Serpent enveloped him in black lightning.
"Dr. Banner!"
Heimdall realized something was wrong, but it was too late. Under such an attack, a mere mortal like Banner couldn't possibly survive.
Suddenly, a three-colored shield appeared where Banner stood, blocking the attack.
On his finger, red, green, and blue lights glowed.
[Sentient life form locked…Identified as Bruce Banner of Earth…You are filled with raging anger (and eternal hope)…You belong (Welcome)… to the Red Lantern Corps (Blue Lantern Corps)!]
Banner slowly raised his head, two trails of blood-tears running down his face. His lab coat transformed into a tri-colored knight's armor.
Three different emotions simultaneously invaded his mind, reminiscent of when the Hulk still shared his body.
This was his best combination:The Green Ring shaped his construct body. The Red Ring gave him raw power. The Blue Ring maintained his sanity—and enhanced the Green Ring's strength.
"Serpent… Tell me, as the God of Fear… Do you know fear?"
Banner floated upward. A towering construct surrounded him.
It was a massive, armored Hulk wielding two glowing blue axes. His semi-transparent green body pulsed with red flames.
Banner was seated at the brain—the core.
Finally, the Serpent understood what Banner had meant earlier.
"The answer is—yes."
BOOM—
The titanic axe cleaved through the Serpent's Fear Fortress, splitting it in two.
The remaining force shattered the ice below, the sound of the fracture echoing across Antarctica.
"Retreat! Everyone retreat!"
Heimdall ordered without hesitation. The others turned and fled.
Behind them, the ice cracked and collapsed.
"Is this the level of the so-called Demon Group's scientists?!"
Hogun slapped his past self mentally. This man was anything but weak.
"Who is the real god here?"
Fandral stared at the monstrous figures in awe. He didn't even qualify to enter the battlefield.
"Don't just stand there—go kill those guys!"
Heimdall led the army toward a new battlefield, charging one of the Hammer Priests.
New Mexico.
Loki sipped red wine gracefully in a quiet, empty bar. Using magic, he observed each battlefield.
As for his own troops, under his illusion spells, they thought they were under attack by the Demon Group—and killed each other off.
He wondered how much origin energy he could collect in the end.
Of course, the most important thing was to become Asgard's ruler.
Then he'd make that blond idiot clean every toilet in Asgard.
"Hahaha, Thor, look at you now," Loki laughed aloud at the mental image.
"LOKI!!!"
With a furious roar, a bolt of lightning struck from the sky, reducing the entire bar to rubble.
Wood flew everywhere. Smoke and dust filled the air.
Cough cough! Gah!
Loki crawled from the wreckage, spitting out wood chips. His tailored suit was in tatters, his meticulously groomed hair now a bird's nest.
"Loki, why did you join the enemy?"
Thor glared at him, lightning crackling around his body, eyes filled with disappointment and anger.
"How did you even find me?"
Loki, fuming, asked. After absorbing origin energy, even Odin shouldn't have been able to track him.
"I don't know. I just followed my gut."
Thor scratched his head. Since drinking the water Father gave him, his instincts had gotten sharper.
"Then why couldn't you use the door?!"
Loki nearly vomited blood.
"This was faster."
"…You're scrubbing every toilet in Asgard. Not even Odin can stop me—I swear it!"
"You're not getting away, Loki."
As Loki tried to vanish, Thor hurled lightning in another direction—zapping invisible Loki into a charred mess.
"Damn you! I'll kill you!"
Furious now, Loki drew two daggers and charged.
Thus began an epic brotherly battle.
Quote of the Chapter:"Only those who have embraced their darkness can wield the light strong enough to terrify even fear itself."
