" Only i can Summon those!"

Chapter 17: For you

The ground trembled—at first, a low rumble beneath Princess Lyra's boots. Then it grew into a deafening quake that tore through the battlefield like the heartbeat of a god.

She lifted her bloodstained sword, trying to steady her breath. Around her, the last line of human and demi-human soldiers struggled to hold the front—screams, steel, and magic colliding in a storm of chaos.

"Hold the line!" Lyra shouted, her voice cracking yet fierce. "Don't let them through!"

But even she could see it—her forces were breaking. Demons poured through the smoke like a tide of nightmares, each one twice the size of a man. Sir Elara's knights were down to half their number, Serena's barrier was flickering, and Kalisto's halberd was chipped to the shaft.

"Princess," Elara said, panting as she cut down a charging fiend. "We can't hold much longer. If the left flank falls—"

"I know!" Lyra yelled, slashing another demon across the chest. Her blade's light dimmed, her mana nearly drained. "We just need a little more time. Kieth… please, wherever you are—"

Then it happened.

The earth roared.

A thunderous metallic rhythm filled the air—a synchronized march that rattled the bones of gods and mortals alike. The demons froze mid-charge, their eyes widening as fissures split the ground open. Steam and fire burst skyward.

The battlefield trembled under the weight of war. The sky was no longer blue—just red and black, burning from the clash of magic and metal. Lyra stood on the ridge beside Serena and the other commanders, her eyes fixed on the horizon.

The ground cracked open again, shaking the very air. Then came the thunder—metal footsteps, countless in number.

At first, she thought it was another wave of demon reinforcements. But the sound… it was too organized. Too precise.

And then she saw them.

Thousands of Terminators marched in perfect lines, their red optics glowing in the smoke. Transformers rolled across the fields, shifting mid-charge into towering cannons and mechs. Overhead, Zoids streaked through the sky, their metallic roars shaking the heavens as they tore through the enemy's flanks.

The soldiers around her froze, their fear replaced by disbelief.

"Wh–what are those?" one of the knights whispered.

Lyra smiled faintly, her eyes glinting in the firelight. "They're his."

The others turned to her in shock.

"That's Kieth's army," she said softly. "His summons."

And then she saw him.

Through the chaos and flame, something vast and bright rose from the smoke. Gleaming white armor, wings made of pure energy, eyes burning like twin stars—the Cosmic White Wing Gundam.

It was unmistakable.

The moment Lyra laid eyes on it, her chest tightened. "Kieth…" she breathed.

The Gundam moved with impossible grace, carving through the air as it clashed with the colossal form of Xandros, the Demon Lord of Destruction. Every impact was like thunder meeting lightning—shockwaves rippled across the sky, blowing apart anything caught between them.

From her vantage, it was like watching a god battle another god. The Gundam's radiant wings sliced through the storm, while Xandros' claws tore the clouds apart with every strike.

But even Lyra could see it—Kieth was struggling.

The once-flawless white armor of his Gundam was now scorched and cracked. Energy flickered erratically from its joints. The sky itself trembled each time they clashed, yet the Demon Lord seemed almost amused, toying with him.

Lyra's heart sank as she saw Kieth's army begin to falter. The Zoids were being ripped apart by dark energy blasts, Transformers collapsing into burning heaps of metal, and even the relentless Terminators were crumbling under sheer numbers.

Her fingers tightened on the rail in front of her. "He's… losing ground."

Then the heavens shook again. A massive shadow fell across the battlefield—Omega Prime descended like a meteor, landing with a roar that split the air. The sheer power of its arrival sent waves of energy that vaporized hundreds of demons in seconds.

The humans cheered wildly, shouting Kieth's name, hope burning anew in their eyes. But Lyra's gaze never left that shining white Gundam high above, locked in a desperate dance against destruction itself.

She could tell by the way it moved—the small hesitations, the flares of its engines straining to hold balance—that Kieth was reaching his limit.

Her voice came out as a whisper. "Kieth… please, stay with us."

And still, the Cosmic White Wing Gundam fought on—battered, blazing, unyielding. Against the endless dark, it shone brighter than ever, wings unfurling like a defiant star refusing to die.

To Lyra, it wasn't just a machine.

It was Kieth himself—stubborn, reckless, unstoppable.

Lyra couldn't look away. The sky itself seemed to be collapsing around Kieth. Every time his Gundam struck, the clouds tore open, raining fire. Every time Xandros countered, the ground split like glass under a hammer.

The once-clear blue horizon had turned into a maelstrom of red lightning and black smoke. Even from a distance, Lyra could feel the heat radiating off their clash—so intense it made the air shimmer.

Her heart pounded in her chest, her fingers trembling on the railing of the fortress wall. "He's still fighting…" she whispered, voice cracking.

Serena stood beside her, eyes narrowed as she watched the sky burn. "That idiot… he's pushing himself too far again."

Lyra's lips parted, but no words came out. She could see it—the Cosmic White Wing Gundam faltering midair, its wings flickering like dying embers. The once-pristine armor now carried cracks glowing faintly blue, as if the energy inside was barely being contained.

Then, a devastating punch from Xandros sent the Gundam hurtling down, crashing through the clouds like a falling star. It slammed into the ground miles away, carving a crater that lit up the horizon.

Lyra's chest seized. "No…"

A long, dreadful silence followed. The entire battlefield seemed to hold its breath. Even the demons paused, their laughter dying in their throats.

Then came a faint pulse of light.

The crater glowed white—dim at first, then brighter, until it outshone the flames around it. The ground trembled again, and Lyra felt the shockwave brush against her face.

From the heart of that light, wings spread wide once more—no longer pure white, but streaked with gold and blue, burning brighter than ever.

Lyra gasped. "He's… still moving."

Serena turned, eyes widening. "No way… he's activating it, isn't he?"

"The Overlimit System…" Lyra whispered. "He swore he'd never use it."

The voice of Metatron echoed faintly through the comm-line, carried across the channels of the allied forces.

"Warning—Overlimit System: engaged. Pilot's life-force synchronization exceeding safe parameters."

The Cosmic White Wing Gundam lifted its head slowly. Its wings unfurled like celestial banners, each feather-blade pulsing with divine light. Around it, debris rose into the air, suspended by sheer force.

Then Kieth's voice cut through the static, strained but steady.

"I don't have a choice anymore… if I stop here, everyone dies."

Lyra felt her throat tighten. She knew that tone—resolute, unyielding, and self-destructive.

Xandros laughed, the sound like thunder cracking across the heavens. "So you'll burn yourself for their sake? How pitifully human."

Lyra gritted her teeth, whispering under her breath, "That's what makes him stronger…"

The Gundam moved—faster than light, a white streak cutting through the storm. It met Xandros midair, and the impact shook the clouds apart. Every blow was like a nova bursting open—energy waves flattening armies below.

The humans cheered, their voices rising in unison.

Even the kings and queens who had gathered to fight—King Youm of the Dwarves, Queen Jessabell of the Merfolk, King Eldrin of the Elves, and Queen Valeria of the Dragons—all stood in stunned silence, watching that single Gundam stand against despair itself.

Lyra's vision blurred. She didn't realize she was crying until she felt the warmth on her cheeks.

"He's really doing it…" she whispered. "Kieth… you're going to destroy yourself."

But the Cosmic White Wing Gundam only burned brighter, its wings expanding outward until they covered half the sky. Light rained down like feathers of fire, erasing demon after demon with every fall.

Kieth's voice echoed faintly over the comms again, quiet but clear:

"Tell everyone… keep fighting. I'll hold him here."

Lyra's heart broke at those words. She pressed her hand to her chest, whispering through trembling lips,

"Please… don't you dare leave us again."

And above them all, the sky became a sea of light—Kieth's white wings spread wide against the endless dark, as if heaven itself had descended to stand between the world and annihilation.

The sky was tearing apart.

Each clash between Kieth and Xandros sent shockwaves that rolled across the earth like tidal waves. The ground split, the heavens bled light—and through it all, Lyra could see his Cosmic White Wing Gundam faltering.

The once-brilliant wings were dimming. Every movement looked heavier. Every hit from Xandros forced the machine lower and lower toward the smoking earth.

Lyra gripped the railing so tight her knuckles turned white. "He's… he's losing…" she whispered, her voice breaking.

Serena clenched her sword beside her. "He's reaching his limit… even Kieth can't hold out forever."

The words cut through Lyra like knives. Her heart pounded as her eyes darted across the burning horizon—and that's when she saw it.

Half-buried in the ruined hangar behind the fortress walls… the old XZ-72 Gundam—rusted, ancient, and half-dismantled.

Her breath hitched. "That's…"

Kalishto followed her gaze and frowned. "Lyra, don't tell me you're—"

"I have to," she said, already running.

"Princess!" Serena shouted, grabbing her wrist. "That's suicide! You're not trained for—"

"I don't care!" Lyra snapped, tears streaming down her face. "If I don't do something, he's going to die out there!"

For a heartbeat, silence hung between them. Serena saw the resolve in her eyes—the same fire Kieth once carried. She cursed under her breath, then turned to the soldiers. "You heard her! Make way for the princess! Protect her with your lives!"

At once, the royal guards and knights formed a defensive corridor, raising shields as bolts of demonic fire rained down from the sky.

"Move! Move!" Sir Elara shouted, slicing through a demon soldier that tried to block Lyra's path.

King Youm's dwarven soldiers raised their bulwarks, absorbing the shockwaves from a distant explosion.

Queen Jessabell summoned torrents of seawater from her staff, dousing the flames that threatened to consume the corridor.

Even King Eldrin's elven archers covered the skies, firing arrows infused with light, clearing the way forward.

Lyra sprinted through it all—her hair singed by heat, armor cracked and splattered with soot. Her lungs burned, but she didn't stop.

Above her, she saw Kieth's Gundam fall again—its wings torn, the light fading fast.

"Please… just hold on a little longer…" she whispered.

Finally, she reached the hangar. The door was half-collapsed, sparks crackling from the shattered cables. The XZ-72 Gundam stood there, silent and broken, coated in dust—but to her, it felt alive.

Her knees hit the metal floor as she stared up at it. "Please… just once more. Let me help him."

The console in front of the cockpit flickered weakly—like it had heard her.

She climbed in. The seat was cold, the screens dead. She pressed her trembling hand on the ignition, whispering, "Come on… come on…"

Nothing.

Then—

"Ding! Notice—individual Princess Lyra requesting system link."

"Compatibility detected. Authorized by main operator: Kieth Martine."

The cockpit came to life, bathing her in a soft blue light. Lyra gasped as the controls lit up, and for a moment, she could feel something warm—like Kieth's presence guiding her hands.

"Pilot recognized," Metatron's voice echoed gently.

"Unit—XZ-72 Gundam—reactivation sequence initializing."

The hangar rumbled. Dust and debris fell from above as the old Gundam's eyes flared gold.

Outside, the soldiers looked up in shock as the ancient machine began to move—steam hissing from its vents, its frame groaning like an awakening giant.

Serena's jaw dropped. "No way… that thing still works?!"

Lyra's voice trembled, but her grip on the controls steadied. "Just hold on, Kieth… I'm coming."

The XZ-72 Gundam stepped forward—slow at first, then faster, its systems syncing with her will. As it emerged from the hangar, the sunlight caught its frame, turning its worn metal into a golden hue.

The battlefield froze. Even Xandros paused, his crimson eyes narrowing at the new arrival.

Lyra's heart raced as she lifted the Gundam's arm and aimed toward the burning sky.

"Let's fight together this time…" she whispered.

The engines roared to life—deep and thunderous—echoing Kieth's own Gundam's sound in perfect harmony.

And for the first time since the war began, the two Gundams of humanity stood side by side once more—one battered, one reborn—ready to defy a god.

To be continue.
