Chapter 3 - World Avallon

Avallon: a world with six continents and eight seas. It is known for its staggering imbalance of power and is controlled by the goddess Esteria, who placed statues of herself throughout the world. The statues change their form depending on how the people perceive the goddess. Yet the world is also occupied by a system called Dillt. This system grants a chosen few humanoids and other races special affinities during birth, making them indifferent to common folk.

The world has multiple power kingdoms, and among these kingdoms, there's only one kingdom that has more power, enemies, and worth than any other kingdom. This kingdom is Melcelut, also known as Kingdom by the people inhabiting the world.

Melcelut is advanced in every way, producing weapons of science and other living expenses for its people. Its tall structures rival every kingdom on Avallon, and it has a population of over one billion. And every year during the celebration of the king's birthday, its skies are filled with brilliant hues that shine like young auroras throughout the kingdom. As it just happened, the people were celebrating the king's birthday.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, buying cheap products from all over Avallon, and spending their money on drinks and other essentials. Yet as this was taking place, a ripple tore through the sky from a distance not so far away from the capital of Melcelut.

Though the people of Avallon had magic, only a single person took note of the ripple's presence. She was a girl with flamingo pink-colored hair and lime green colored eyes; her skin was pale.

She wore a black dress that stopped just past her knees, and was carrying a rapier sword. Her name was Yomeko.

She looked at the sky with a blank expression as her fingers wrapped tighter around the rapier.

"Anything the matter?" Rin, right next to Yomeko, asked, looking at Yomeko with a grave expression.

Rin had long silver hair that stopped right below her back, and she had mismatched teal and sky blue eyes. She wore raven black trousers that she accompanied with her ice blue T-shirt.

"Someone created a ripple," Yomeko stated.

"What race are they?" Rin asked.

"It's hard to tell, but something came out of it and—" Before Yomeko could finish, she suddenly stopped.

"Hm?" uttered Rin. Her grave expression softened, slowly turning to a curious one. "What is it?" She continued.

"The ripple vanished," Yomeko replied, still looking at the sky. "But I sense someone else in the area... They are giving off an immense aura, though they seem young."

Though Yomeko was referring to someone else as young, she was pretty young herself, only that she appeared a little older because of a growth-enhancing ability.

Rin remained silent for a second as Yomeko pivoted and stared at her with eyes belied by any emotions. And two seemed identical to each other when calm or pondering.

"Proceed to take care of them, they might be one of us. And if that's not the case, get rid of them."

Rin shifted her gaze back to Yomeko as her face returned to being grave once more. "Also, kill anyone who happens to see you. I don't want trouble coming our way."

After telling Yomeko what to do, Rin created two identical portals for Yomeko and herself. The portals were made of dark blue mist, which seemed intimidating at first glance, but yet welcoming at the same time.

Yomeko walked towards one of the portals while readying her rapier for anything she was going to encounter.

"Don't get careless and let yourself get injured or killed," Rin said. This was her way of telling Yomeko to be careful.

◇◇◇◇

Elsewhere in the capital of Melcelut, inside the bar where everyone can let loose. Three men, namely "Zai", "June", and "Zabuto", were waiting for someone at table three, which was right next to the counter.

"I just don't know what to do anymore," Zai complained.

The table was empty, with no cups or weapons on it.

"Come on, just try to enjoy yourself for a little bit. than worrying about tomorrow's problems." June teased.

"Try to give him some credit for being here. After all, I'm the reason why you're both here." Zabuto said while holding some blueprints for a new weapon.

Without any warning, a masked man with green hair asked. "What's all this commotion about?"

It was like he appeared out of thin air.

"Oh, you're finally here."

"Please take a seat," Zabuto said without a trace of hesitation in his voice.

A moment later, after the masked man took his seat, Rin walked into the bar and went straight to table three.

All the people in the bar were looking at her, but she just pretended like none of them were there in the first place.

"Oh, it's you." Zabuto and June said, while Zai looked worried, and the masked man looked away from Rin. It was like he was irritated under his mask with Rin's insight.

"We thought you weren't coming?" June commented.

"I thought so too, but since I was already in Mel, I changed my mind about not coming," Rin said with a smile while taking a seat on one of the chairs still open.

Everyone else stayed quiet. It was like a Queen had arrived on the scene.

A few seconds later, after she took a seat, she added with a tone of curiosity in her voice. "So, what do we have here?"

Everyone looked at her with hesitation. Except for Zabuto, who was trying to act normal, even though the fact was that he was scared of Rin's presence.

Zabuto looked at Rin and thought to himself, 'This is bad.' And he continued nervously, "Since we're all here. Let me start our meeting for this year's project."

The meeting went on for a while, and after they had finished, everyone went their separate ways, except for the masked man and June, who remained for a drink.

But since the masked man was still wearing his mask, he bought his drink to go. And the fact that he didn't want anyone to know who he was under the mask.

"Well, I'd better be on my way, too." The masked man said as he stood up from his chair.

"What's with the sudden rush?" June asked as he picked up his cup.

The masked man gazed through his mask with two piercing blue eyes, while standing for a second in silence.

No one was paying attention to them, even though they were with Rin a few minutes ago.

June took a sip from his cup and looked at the masked man with only one eye and a cool and calm face.

The masked man smiled under his mask and said. "My wife is going to have another baby soon. So I need to stay by her side when that happens."

June smiled while putting his cup down, and he started giggling.

The masked man was surprised by the giggling from June. He asked with a curious voice. "What's wrong?"

June answered. "Nothing, it's just funny that you're going to have another one of them brats."

June and the masked man weren't close, but June seemed to know everything there was to know about the masked man.

After a second, June asked. "Is your wife going to be okay? Since you're here, and you said you live way out there in the mountains."

But the masked man replied with a prideful voice. He didn't notice that June was just playing with him.

"I'm not worried for my wife, I'm just worried for the baby. Since my wife can take care of herself. I needn't worry too much about her."

"Anyway, I'm off." He said as he vanished into thin air without leaving any trace of himself being there.

June smiled and said to himself, "Classic Cromwell." As he picked up his cup to take a sip.

Elsewhere, to the Middle East of Mel. Rin was standing in front of a Frontier Weapons shop. Next to an abandoned child who looked halfway dead, due to his bruises, which were on his face, hands, and back.

She looked at the child with a dead look in her eyes, which looked similar to Yomeko's (the pink-haired girl), and the child looked back at her with a fading smile. This surprised Rin that she had no choice but to smile back at the child.

A second later, the child collapsed next to a broken old grass bottle.

Rin continued smiling and approached the child, as her left hand twitched with excitement.

Moments later, Rin was passing by one of the goddesses' statues, which was located in the capital of Melcelut.

It looked like a woman carrying some books and a long spear while wearing a crown and standing on a rock.

The version of this statue stands for victory and knowledge of this kingdom.

She stopped and looked up at the statue with a serious face and murmured to herself, "Mother." And then out loud she added. "I hope you'll one day forgive me for what I plan to do."

A royal guard from one of the gates of the kingdom of Melcelut was also passing by the goddess's statue while carrying some kind of paper scroll. And he looked like he was in a hurry.

Suddenly, Rin felt an unfamiliar presence coming from the south of the kingdom of Melcelut, where the guard was also posted.

"Wait, what?" She muttered under her breath while she turned south of the capital of Melcelut.

Without any warning, someone released a large amount of mana into the sky. And it was coming from west of the capital of Melcelut, where a village named "Dol" was located.

The mana that was being released into the sky didn't surprise Rin, but she heard a voice saying, "Come to the blue gate immediately. It's an agent matter."

The voice sounded like it was from a well-respected man.

And without wasting any time, the dark blue smoke started gathering around her and formed a portal. She then entered it and was on her way.
