Chapter 87 - PARALYZED BY FEARS.

GEMINI.

After dinner, Percy and I changed into our night clothes. The soft fabric of my pajamas felt smooth against my skin as I climbed into his large bed, the scent of his cologne lingering in the sheets like an enticing promise.

Almost immediately, he pulled me close. His toned arms wrapped around my chest, muscles coiling around me protectively, while he buried his face in the crook of my neck. I felt jolts of electricity race through my body, sparking at his touch. This was exactly what I meant by us not having a typical guy friendship; other guys didn't do this with their friends—at least, none that I know of.

I reached for the TV remote on his nightstand, my fingers brushing against the cool surface as I turned on Netflix.

"What do you want to watch?" I asked, glancing over my shoulder at him. He tangled his legs with mine, a warm weight that made my heart flutter even more, and he muttered softly,

"I'll watch whatever you watch." I felt his lips graze my neck, a subtle, electrifying kiss that made me shiver.

"Should I stop?"

Percy asked gently, his voice low and teasing. I shook my head, telling him to continue, craving that intoxicating sensation. I loved how he made me feel, alive and wanted in every way. I had never experienced anything like this before. Then again, I've never been this close with anyone before.

When I finally found a movie for us to watch, I nestled deeper into his embrace, my body relaxing against his.

"Percy?"

I called, my voice nearly swallowed by the soft hum of the opening credits. He hummed a quiet reply, his warm breath tickling my neck and making me smile.

"Can I ask you a question?"

I shifted slightly, hoping he wouldn't mind a little conversation. I felt him nod against my skin, his face still buried in my neck.

"How did you know where to find me today?"

I asked carefully, the question that had been nagging at me all evening finally escaping my lips. My heart raced, uncertain of what his answer might hold.

Percy lifted his face from my neck, his eyes locking onto mine with a serious expression. He gestured toward the table on his bedroom table, and I turned my head to follow his hand.

"That's how," he said, his tone matter-of-fact. Confused, my brows furrowed.

"Your iPad?" I asked, trying to piece it together. He nodded, and I felt a wave of curiosity wash over me. "Were you tracking me?" I asked, my heart pounding slightly at the thought, unsure how to feel about it.

He shook his head. "I was tracking it!" he clarified.

"What's the difference?" I pressed, trying to grasp the situation fully.

"I started tracking it when I couldn't find it, then I remembered you'd left with it this morning. I wouldn't have known where you were if you hadn't gone out with it," he explained. My mind momentarily spun, processing his words.

"So you mean you tracked me?" I asked lightly, teasing but inwardly hoping he didn't take it too seriously.

"Not at first but it was a gamble that paid off, I found you." he replied cheekily, a smirk creeping onto his face like a whispered secret.

As his cold fingers brushed against my skin, a jolt of electricity ran through me, leaving me breathless. I gasped at the sensation, unable to suppress the thrill it ignited within me, a spark that set my heart aflame.

His words dripped with a gentle concern when he spoke next.

"You had a sour look when you left home this morning, I wanted to make sure you were okay."

The sincerity in his voice made my heart race with emotions, like a symphony of feelings playing in perfect harmony. With him I always feel seen, heard, and understood in a way that left me reeling.

I didn't know he noticed I was in a bad mood earlier today. The realization sent a shiver down my spine. I still couldn't process how he noticed the littlest details about me, as if he had a sixth sense tuned into my emotions. It was both exhilarating and terrifying, like standing on the edge of a cliff, feeling the rush of the unknown.

"Can I ask you something?" he inquired, and I realized this night would hold more than one just serious conversation.

"Sure," I replied, my curiosity piqued.

"Why don't you want to date me?"

The question hung heavily in the air, igniting a familiar tension between us. I sighed, frustration bubbling inside me.

Were we really back to this conversation again?

"I told you, you're not serious," I replied, hoping he would leave it there. I was already feeling vulnerable at the very thought of discussing this again. But Percy, persistent as always, wasn't ready to relent.

"But I'm serious." he whispered, locking eyes with me. The intensity of his gaze sent a shiver down my spine, and my body reacted immediately, heat pooling in my cheeks.

"Just drop it, okay?" I pleaded, my heart racing wildly.

But he wasn't having it. He kept pushing, wanting to know why I didn't want to date him, while I tried to focus on the movie, the colorful scenes flashing across the screen blending into a haze of distraction.

"You don't think I would make a good boyfriend?" he asked at one point, his voice laced with both confusion and vulnerability.

My breath caught in my throat at his words. The truth was, I knew he would make an amazing boyfriend to someone else, someone in his league. That reality left me paralyzed. I honestly don't know what I wanted from all of this, and that fear consumed me.

Can we just date because it's convenient?

I turned to look at him, seeing the flickering screen illuminate his features. His expression was earnest, filled with determination, and my heart ached at the thought of wanting something I wasn't ready to grasp. Percy reached out, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, his touch sending sparks dancing across my skin.

"Do you ever think about what we could be?" he asked softly, his voice dropping to a whisper, as if he was afraid the answer might shatter the moment. I felt the weight of his words settle over us, a delicate tension brewing in the air.

I swallowed hard, torn between my hesitations and the undeniable connection we shared.

"I do." I admitted quietly, my heart racing as I met his gaze, the air charged with unspoken possibilities.

Percy's eyes sparkled with a mix of warmth and hope as he searched my face for sincerity.

"Then stop overthinking everything and just date me." he said gently, his fingers intertwining with mine, grounding me in this shared moment, this tangled mess of emotions and wants.

"We can't just date because of what if's, Percy. A relationship of that nature is a serious matter."

"Exactly, my point. I've never been more serious about anything than I am right now."

He responded without hesitation and I sighed. We're not going to get anywhere with this conversation if we keep going back and forth like this.

As the movie played on, I leaned back into his embrace, giving in to the warmth and safety he offered. Whatever direction this was going, something in me wanted to explore it with him, to give into my desire but something inside me is seriously holding me back.
