After leaving Sunagakure, Naruto returned to his home in Konohagakure.
"Dad! Mom! I'm back!" he called, stepping into the house with his usual energetic grin.
Naruto walked through the living room and into the study, only to find it empty.
"Huh? Where is everyone? Where could they have gone?" Naruto wondered aloud, scanning the house.
After a brief pause, he recalled that Minato and Kushina had mentioned going to the Hyuga residence to discuss family matters. A small smile curved Naruto's lips. "Ah, that makes sense."
He wandered into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and poured himself a drink. Since his parents had been resurrected, the refrigerator had always been fully stocked with fresh ingredients—a testament to the care Kushina and Minato had put into daily life.
Naruto flopped onto the sofa, letting himself relax for a moment. But just as he was about to take a sip, there was a knock at the door.
"Who's there?" Naruto called.
"Brother Naruto! It's me, Konohamaru!" came the cheerful reply.
Naruto set down his cup and opened the door, smiling. "Konohamaru! What brings you here?"
Konohamaru chuckled nervously. "I'm not here for myself, it's the Hokage! She wants you to come over. I've been looking all over the village with Udon and Moegi, and finally found you here!"
"Grandma Tsunade wants me?" Naruto raised an eyebrow.
Konohamaru nodded enthusiastically. "Yep! She said to come to the Hokage office for a meeting."
Naruto grinned. "Alright, I'll go with you."
Before leaving, Naruto scribbled a quick note at home, letting his parents know he'd returned and was heading to the Hokage's office. Then, he closed the door and followed Konohamaru through the village streets.
Since he wanted Konohamaru to accompany him, Naruto decided against using the Flying Thunder God Technique.
As they walked, Konohamaru spoke eagerly, "Brother Naruto, you haven't taught me any new Ninjutsu in a long time. By the way, which generation of your Seduction Technique have you developed now?"
Naruto coughed and waved a hand dismissively. "Better not to teach techniques like that anymore."
Konohamaru looked thoughtful. "I understand. Brother Naruto is… motivating me, right? You want me to carry the banner and continue developing this technique. I understand! I'll work hard, Brother Naruto!"
Naruto covered his forehead and shook his head, slightly exasperated. Although Konohamaru had always been enthusiastic about mastering unconventional techniques, Naruto's own experiences with Hinata had made him less interested in developing seduction-based Ninjutsu.
Konohamaru persisted. "Brother Naruto, apart from the Seduction Technique, you haven't taught me any new Ninjutsu for a long time. I've mastered the Rasengan well… Are there any other powerful Ninjutsu you can teach me?"
Naruto thought for a moment, recalling the long period since his rebirth. Since defecting and founding the Tian Organization, his time with Konohamaru had been limited. Their interactions were much less frequent than in his previous life.
"Do you know how to channel Sage chakra? To make a contract with the toads of Mount Myōboku?" Naruto asked.
Konohamaru shook his head, wide-eyed.
"Then you can't use Sage Jutsu yet."
Konohamaru's excitement exploded. "Brother Naruto! You want to teach me Sage Jutsu?!"
Naruto ruffled his pupil's hair with a smile. "Step by step, Konohamaru. First, you need to learn to sense toad chakra. Until you master that, trying Sage Jutsu would be impossible. After that, I'll teach you slowly. There's also the Rasen Shuriken, which is an advanced Ninjutsu built on the Rasengan. You haven't learned it yet, so we'll go one step at a time."
"Really?!!!" Konohamaru's eyes sparkled with excitement.
As Naruto's chief disciple, every new technique he received from Naruto felt more powerful than the last. He remembered vividly the time Naruto had used multiple Shadow Clones to create a thousand beautiful illusions in combination with Seduction Technique—so potent that their teacher Ebisu had fainted from the sheer absurdity of it. That moment cemented Naruto as the undeniable leader in Konohamaru's eyes.
Naruto chuckled at Konohamaru's enthusiasm. "Yes, little brother, I'll teach you properly. You're my disciple, so of course I want you to become the strongest ninja you can be. Are you confident?"
Konohamaru clenched his fists and nodded resolutely. "Absolutely, Brother Naruto!"
Their conversation continued as they walked, unaware of how quickly they were approaching the Hokage office.
"Brother Naruto, go ahead upstairs. I'll wait down here for you!" Konohamaru said, finally stopping at the base of the steps.
Naruto nodded and ascended the stairs.
Pushing open the Gate of Opening, Naruto entered the office. Tsunade sat in the Hokage seat, while Kakashi occupied a chair across from her, a pile of documents spread out on the table. Shizune stood beside Tsunade, sorting through papers with precision.
"Grandma Tsunade! Teacher Kakashi! Sister Shizune!" Naruto greeted warmly.
Tsunade looked up and smiled. "Naruto, just in time. Come, sit with us."
Kakashi stood, pulling out another chair for Naruto. "Here, sit beside me," he said politely.
Shizune remained focused on organizing the documents for Tsunade's explanation.
"What are all these papers for?" Naruto asked, raising an eyebrow.
Tsunade held up a file. "I'm explaining Hokage-related matters to Kakashi, and you can listen in too."
Naruto blinked in surprise. "Why me?"
Kakashi's eyes crinkled with a smile. "You'll eventually handle these responsibilities too, Naruto. Some of the documents are confidential; better you understand them now, rather than later."
Naruto sighed, shaking his head with a grin. "You guys really take this seriously. I thought you were calling me for something urgent, but it's this!"
Tsunade's cheeks flushed as she crossed her arms. "Important, yes! Extremely important!"
At that moment, the door burst open with a shout. "Here's some water!"
Jiraiya strode in, carrying a tray of tea and water. Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Pervy Sage, what are you doing?"
Jiraiya's face lit up. "Naruto! Perfect timing! Tsunade was just talking about you!"
Kakashi quickly stepped forward, realizing Jiraiya intended to pour water himself. "I'll handle it, Jiraiya-sama."
"Don't worry about it," Jiraiya waved him off, setting down the tray and sitting beside Tsunade.
Naruto held his cup, noting the unusual but comfortable dynamic between his two mentors. Despite Jiraiya's antics, it was clear they shared a deep bond.
Tsunade resumed explaining Hokage matters, her voice steady and precise. After an hour and a half, she concluded. Naruto yawned, while Kakashi's thoughtful expression suggested he had absorbed every detail.
Tsunade finally addressed Naruto. "Tomorrow—or the day after—the Daimyo will issue a formal Hokage appointment letter and convene representatives from other countries. I'll hold the Hokage handover ceremony based on this letter. You'll attend, correct?"
Naruto smiled at Kakashi, who nodded reassuringly. "Of course. Kakashi will be the Hokage. I'll be there."
Tsunade asked casually, "Are Minato and Kushina also free?"
Naruto nodded. "Yes, of course!"
"Good," Tsunade said. "Early tomorrow, the village will send out a notice announcing Kakashi's Hokage appointment ceremony."
Naruto leaned back in his chair, excitement hidden behind his calm demeanor, already anticipating the next chapter in Konoha's history.
