As the sun disappeared beyond the horizon, the beast soldiers finally managed to clear a safe path leading toward the Duke of Illvaris' manor. Still, the situation was far from safe.
Because of that, Edmund ordered the soldiers to split the women into eight smaller groups. Each group would consist of four women and two soldiers so they could move more carefully and keep track of everyone more easily.
"We'll walk right behind you," Primrose said gently as she tied a green ribbon around Evelia's wrist. "So don't worry. We'll make sure no one gets left behind."
Primrose had intentionally chosen different colors for each group so she could count everyone faster if something happened. Honestly, the ribbons were not only useful for separating the groups, but they also looked surprisingly pretty.
"There," she said softly after finishing the knot. "Is it too tight?"
Evelia shook her head lightly. "No, it's fine."
She didn't say anything afterward, but spoke in her mind instead.
