Chapter 84 - End of Resident Evil 0 Plot

After Allen and his group managed to escape the facility and walked far enough toward a cliff, about fifteen minutes later—BOOOM!!! A massive explosion erupted from the Umbrella facility. The huge structure detonated, shaking the very ground beneath their feet, leaving nothing but shattered debris and rubble. No one could tell how much explosive had been used to completely wipe out a building of that scale.

"It seems Umbrella really wanted to erase all traces of their crimes, judging by the way they destroyed the evidence," Allen said, shaking his head.

The others were equally stunned by how the facility had been utterly obliterated, yet there was also a sense of relief. With its destruction, the spread of the virus causing the outbreak could at least be contained.

"This is finally over," Billy muttered as he sat down on the grass.

Not long after, the sun began to rise beautifully from the east. Allen, Billy, Rebecca, and Svetlana gazed at it, feeling a small sense of peace. The unpleasant memories and tension of the facility were, at least for now, something they could begin to leave behind.

"You know, this mission was even worse than the one I went through in Africa," Billy said.

"Ohh… so what's your plan after this?" Allen asked, curious.

"I don't know. I'm planning to hide for a while, maybe move to the countryside and start farming," Billy replied. He clearly didn't want to get involved in things like this ever again.

Allen then pulled some cash from his bag. "In that case, you're going to need this," he said, tossing the money over. It was quite a large amount, more than enough for Billy to start a new life.

"Ohh, what's this? A bribe to keep my mouth shut?" Billy asked.

Allen just shook his head. "No. You can use it to begin a new life," he said, then stepped forward and took Billy's name tag. "Because from now on… you're officially dead."

Hearing that, Billy was deeply moved. He stood, faced Allen and the others, and gave them a soldier's salute. Allen, Rebecca, and Svetlana returned the salute.

"Thank you, Allen, Rebecca, and Svetlana. I'll remember all of you. If we ever meet again, I promise I'll help you," Billy said, his eyes glistening with emotion.

Allen and the others simply nodded at Billy.

"Oh, right—you can head west. Not far from here, there's my villa. Inside you'll find a few vehicles you might be able to use. But I hope you'll be careful; this forest is still dangerous. And I suggest you leave this place as soon as possible," Allen said, handing Billy the access key to the villa.

Seeing this, Billy felt incredibly grateful to have met Allen. All he could do was thank him once again for the help. Not long after, Billy finally parted ways with them.

Meanwhile, Rebecca and Svetlana couldn't help but think Allen was far too kind to someone he'd just met—but that only made them admire him even more.

"So, where do we go next?" Svetlana asked.

"We should try to find the Captain and the rest of the team first," Allen replied.

Rebecca then pointed toward a massive mansion not far away. "Allen, look—couldn't that be the mansion the Captain mentioned earlier?" she said, her eyes fixed on the looming building.

"Yeah, let's head there. We can also use it as a place to rest," Allen said, noticing how exhausted and sleepy Rebecca looked.

.....

Meanwhile, Sergei, now gazing at the ruins of Umbrella's executive training facility, felt a surge of irritation. Thanks to Wesker's interference, he had only managed to recover a small amount of Marcus's remains.

"You've really outdone yourself this time, Wesker. But mark my words—next time I catch you pulling something like this, I'll kill you with my own hands," Sergei muttered as he climbed into his vehicle and made his way back to Raccoon City via the subway. Fortunately, the tunnel system had survived the massive explosion intact.

Before long, Sergei arrived in Raccoon City and handed the samples to his subordinates, with strict orders to deliver them directly to Spencer.

At the same time, Wesker—who had taken the very same subway route ahead of Sergei—was already back in Raccoon City. Without delay, he made his way to the RPD, preparing to set his next plan into motion: acquiring a copy of the TALOS Project data hidden within Spencer's mansion.

.....

At this moment, Allen, Rebecca, and Svetlana finally entered the mansion and searched for a room where they could rest for a while. Allen immediately tried contacting the other team members to check on their condition.

"Captain, this is Allen. Our team is currently inside the mansion you mentioned earlier. We also found Billy… but unfortunately, he couldn't be saved, Captain."

"Allen, what about you? Are you all alright?" Enrico's voice crackled over the radio.

"We're fine, Captain. Right now, we're resting in one of the library rooms near the lobby on the second floor," Allen replied.

"Good. We'll head there later. For now, get some rest—we're also regrouping here. And be careful, we've run into a lot of strange creatures inside this place. Stay alert," Enrico warned before cutting the transmission.

"It seems the Captain is doing fine," Allen said to Rebecca and Svetlana. "Let's rest here for now. After that, we can meet up with the others."

"I'll take the first watch. You two should rest," Svetlana offered.

"Alright, but don't push yourself too hard. If you get tired, wake me up," Allen replied, agreeing to the arrangement before lying down on a large sofa with Rebecca at his side.

Svetlana just shook her head at Allen's words, a faint smile tugging at her lips as she stood guard.

After about two hours, Allen finally woke up from his sleep. Rebecca was still fast asleep from exhaustion, but of course Allen didn't wake her. He then noticed Svetlana, still awake, calmly reading a book at a table.

Allen walked over to her. "Hey, I'm up. Let's switch shifts," he said.

"Okay," Svetlana replied, closing her book before lying down and quickly drifting into a deep sleep. She, too, needed rest to recover her stamina.

Not long after, while the women slept, Allen opened his bag to grab some rations to eat and brewed himself a cup of coffee. He sat by the window, gazing outside as he enjoyed the view from behind the glass.

"This mansion really is beautiful… but it's a shame it's being used for such twisted research," Allen muttered, unable to understand what went through Spencer's mind.

"Come to think of it, wasn't there supposed to be a girl trapped inside this mansion?" But Allen quickly shook his head.

"Too bad that girl can't be saved anymore. Even if I could help her, the trauma she suffered runs far too deep. The only option would be to erase her memories… but that's no different from killing her. Well… I'm no saint anyway. Better to just leave it be."

....

Meanwhile in Raccoon City.

It had been more than twelve hours since Bravo Team went missing on their mission, yet there was still no report or contact from them. This made Jill increasingly worried.

"Don't worry, Jill. Allen and the others are surely fine," said Athena, who was keeping her company. They were even staying overnight in Jill's private office while waiting for any news from Bravo Team.

On the other side, Lupo was with Yoko, who was inside a trailer truck hacking into Umbrella's computer systems.

Their focus was to steal as much data as possible from Umbrella's supercomputer. There were a few obstacles—Red Queen tried to trace their location—but Wednesday quickly neutralized the threat.

The Red Queen here wasn't nearly as advanced as the version seen in the films, so Yoko was able to breach Umbrella's security with little trouble. Even so, it still required a good amount of time to copy all the available data.

Back at the RPD, Jill was in a room with Lieutenant Marvin.

"Hey, Jill, I thought you were on leave," Marvin said, trying to lighten the mood.

"So, is there any news from them yet?" Jill asked.

Marvin shook his head. "Sorry, Jill. We've tried everything we could, but we haven't picked up any signal from them. Most likely, they're in a location far out of range," he explained. "But don't worry—if they still haven't reported in after six more hours, we'll send Alpha Team to search for Bravo Team."

Hearing that, Jill took a deep breath and leaned back in her chair. "Alright, thank you, Lieutenant. I'll head out for now, but please update me if you hear anything," she said before leaving the room. Her next destination was Chief Brian's office.

It seemed Jill had made up her mind—she wanted to postpone her leave and ask Brian to let her join the next mission.

"Hey, Jill, are you sure you want to do this?" Athena asked.

Jill nodded. "Yeah. You'll support me in this decision, right?"

Athena sighed softly. "Of course. But this time, I'm going with you. I don't want you doing this alone," she said with a smile.

"Thanks, Tena," Jill replied, hugging her.

Not long after, Jill entered Chief Brian's office and started negotiating with him. It was the first time she'd ever done something like this—especially since she had to copy Allen's habit of slipping in bribe money to make the conversation go smoothly.

When Jill finally walked out of the office, she felt embarrassed with herself for resorting to that, but she didn't have any other choice—especially since she also needed to get Athena included in the mission.

....

Six hours had passed since Rebecca had fallen asleep, and she finally woke up at the same time as Svetlana.

"How long was I out?" Rebecca asked.

"About six hours," Allen replied.

"Why didn't you wake me up for my shift?" Rebecca questioned.

"Well, you looked really exhausted, so I didn't want to wake you. Besides, I enjoyed watching you sleep so peacefully," Allen said teasingly.

"Hey, stop treating me like a little girl," Rebecca pouted, her cheeks puffing up like a blowfish.

"Alright, alright. How about we eat first? I've already prepared some food for you," Allen said.

Looking over at the table, Rebecca and Svetlana saw a meal that looked appetizing enough to make their empty stomachs growl. They quickly headed to the small table Allen had set up as a makeshift dining spot.

As they ate, Svetlana turned to Allen. "Allen, what do you think about the bioweapons scattered around this place?" she asked, her expression thoughtful. Perhaps, she wondered, if she could get her hands on such weapons, her country could free itself from war and stand independently.

"If this outbreak isn't contained soon, it could spread across the entire continent," Allen replied.

Hearing that, Svetlana's face darkened a little. It seemed her idea needed serious reconsideration.

"What were you thinking about, anyway?" Allen asked.

"Nothing," Svetlana answered, going back to her meal.

Allen, watching her reaction, could only shake his head. 'Yeah, women really are hard to understand.'

"Allen, what should we do next? Are we going to regroup with the others after this?"

"Hmmm… my plan is to find the lab that's supposed to be here. Maybe I can create some antivirus—who knows, it might come in handy later. And we should also steal some data; it could serve as evidence. After that, we'll regroup with the rest of the team," Allen explained.

Rebecca, upon hearing about the antivirus, looked intrigued. She wanted to see how the creation process would work.

Not long after, they set off in search of the lab they needed.

....

Meanwhile, the other members of Bravo Team were locked in battle with the bioweapons inside the mansion. Under Enrico's leadership—and with a bit of luck—they managed to push their way into the deepest chambers of the estate.

There, they discovered a horrifying array of bioweapons, worse than anything they had encountered in the abandoned hospital. Among them were grotesque plants capable of draining the blood of their victims. The sight forced them to remain on constant alert.

"What the hell is this place, really?" Enrico muttered darkly, his expression grim.

Still, he pressed on with the investigation. Fortunately, the weapons and equipment they had brought gave them the means to explore even further into the mansion's depths.
