Vera's heels clicked lightly against the polished floor as she guided Yu down the corridor. Her excitement was almost palpable; her tall frame leaned in slightly toward Yu as though sharing a secret.
"I've been counting the days."
She said with a conspiratorial smile.
"I hope you'll like what we've done with the room—well, what I did. Philip kept saying I was going overboard."
Yu managed a polite laugh, his fingers grazing the polished banister as they walked. He felt a flutter of apprehension but kept his smile fixed and gentle.
When Vera swung the double doors open, the sight that greeted them was… overwhelming.
