Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher both guessed wrong. The person ringing the doorbell outside wasn't Anthony at all; it was Benjamin Shaw who had only been by earlier this morning.
This time, Benjamin Shaw didn't come empty-handed. In both hands, he carried something—a lunch he bought with one hand and some snacks and drinks with the other.
When Anthony came out of the room, he happened to see Benjamin Shaw waiting at the door for it to be opened. Without thinking much, he strode towards Benjamin Shaw.
"Ex-hubby! You're late, my wife is already full." As Anthony approached, he noticed the things Benjamin was carrying. He could see very clearly that Benjamin had food and drinks in his hands.
He could guess without asking that all these things were for Alice Turner. He felt a pang of envy for Alice, wondering why he never met someone like that, someone who could genuinely care for him.
He didn't need much; just one person like that would be enough.
