I refused to believe this, ''No, why? Why...why would he hurt me? My dad loves me the most!''
Lilith chuckled at that, ''Love...love sure can push us to our limits, we will not hurt him before any confirmation. We are going to do a little background check on him.''
''But...
''No buts, Madeline. This is also about my sister, so please.''
This is the first time I heard Sebastian string together so many words in one single sentence. The way he pleaded hit my heart; he must have really loved my mum.
I silently nodded. I believed my father was innocent, so checking wouldn't hurt. It was true that he didn't spend much time with me growing up, as he was busy with the business, but he did the best that he could.
''Liam, stay with Madeline here for one more day. We will let you know if it's safe to leave by tomorrow.''
Liam hugged his mother as she parted. Lilith mumbled a silent sorry to me before kissing my forehead and leaving.
