"You really want me to become the queen of Vanaheim?" Freyja asked me with an annoyed look on her face.
"Yeah, don't worry, you don't have to do any duties or something, you will just have an extra title.
What I am planning is to join Vanaheim and Asgard, I will personally bless all the Vanirs, and make them all as strong as the current Aesirs. I need more people.
The Aesir, the Vanir, and the Norns combined, along with the elves of Alfheim, they are necessary for my future plans." I said with a serious face, Freyja was just being lazy, which was annoying, because, for once, I was busy with my goals.
Sure, they were my goals, and not hers, but we are married, so technically, my goals are her goals, right?
After the long sentimental meeting between my parents, where I was essentially just ignored, I returned back to proceed with my future plans.
At times like these, I like Hela much more, because if you give her a task, then it was sure to be fulfilled. Freyja on the other hand has been influenced by me too much. She has grown lazy.
"Fine… but I will only become the nominal ruler." Freyja agreed with a pout on her face.
"Good, then go prepare, you are visiting your parents after all, I will be back quickly after assigning some duties." Without waiting for her reply, I vanished from our room and arrived in the throne room.
"Summon Brynhild." I ordered a soldier and sat on my throne.
It was time to prepare the Aesir to be ready for war, a century of inactivity might have lowered their skills, the last war with Nornheim was an easy one, not enough to do the job.
Soon, Brynhild arrived in front of me, kneeling down she addressed "My Lord, what are your orders."
"Now Now, Brynhild dear… no need for that much formality… It feels strange this way, you aren't just my subject after all…" I sighed, this woman was far too fanatical to me now, I even regret doing what I did all those years ago when she was transferred to my command.
But, in my defence, I was young and foolish, and the intoxicating feeling of power did influence me to make some rash decisions.
"I know… my lord, but the commander of your guards, I must maintain proper respect at all times." Brynhild replied seriously.
I was very tempted to make a joke telling her that she needed to be this respectful to me only while we were on bed, but sadly, there were soldiers and servants around.
"Well, Brynhild I have one thing I need you to do." I said, turning back to serious mode.
"Yes, my lord, whatever you order shall be completed." She nodded with a firm expression.
"You are to head to Nornheim, the warriors there haven't yet been trained on Asgard's standards, you are to lead a hundred Valkyries and set up training camps.
Ensure that the warriors of Norn are ready for war whenever I call upon them.
You do not need to train them all yourselves, train some elites of Norns, and they are to lead the training for the rest of the warriors next.
The Aesir fighting style which is most suitable for an Aesir warrior with our strength and magic. They must learn it too.
I trust you can manage it all?" Brynhild was an expert in battle, and so were the Valkyries, letting them train the Norns would be for the best.
"Yes, my Lord. I will ensure that the Norn warriors are all trained up to your satisfaction." With that, she departed, and I too teleported myself to Hela's room.
The Goddess of Death and Destruction, sensing my arrival approached me with a smile on her face.
Of course, this calls for a hug and a deep kiss, because that's how you greet your twin sister in Asgard.
"Hela, I would be taking Freyja to Vanaheim for a while, I intend to join Vanaheim and Asgard, by making Freyja the queen of the Vanirs.
So while I am gone, I trust you to take care of Asgard in my stead, okay?" I said as we cuddled.
She did not reply in words, instead she just placed her head on my chest as if she were trying to listen to my heart.
"And about father… I released him, though, he is to live far away from here." I said, feeling a little guilty, since I did not bother to tell her beforehand.
"I know… and it doesn't matter anymore… That whole ordeal was foolish, though I don't seem to hate it completely, because if that didn't happen, I might have taken a lot more years to realize my feelings…"
Hela, my stupid twin sister, whom I always considered to be an idiot because I was born with her part of wisdom too, was actually spouting sensible stuff.
"My stupid little sister has grown up… oh how I miss her cute little actions when she was little… She doesn't even challenge me to death battles nowadays, maybe she has stopped loving me." I sighed in regret, teasing her.
A deep blush crept into her face, but soon, it turned into one of anger as she growled back, "You!! Fine, I will kill you right now!"
"How cute!" I said exaggeratedly as I pinched her cheeks.
Teasing Hela was a whole other level of happiness, one of the few things I feel my eternal life can't make me bored of.
Anyways, after spending a little more time with Hela, and dumping all my work on her, I vanished, and kidnapped Freyja, taking her to Vanaheim.
"Sister! Brother-in-law! Long time no see, how are you both in Vanaheim, I thought sis forgot about her family since she hasn't visited us for over a century." Frey greeted us excitedly, the man looked haggard, deep dark circles under his eyes, and his face devoid of life.
"Well… I was busy, I am a queen now, after all… But what happened to you? How did you become… like this?" Freyja asked as she examined Frey.
"Sigh… it's a long story…" Frey sighed.
"Well, we have time, and since you are my brother-in-law, I would personally deal with whatever has left you in this state." I assured him, after all, the man looked in really poor condition.
Frey sighed and continued, "It all started a century ago… When Brother-in-law defeated God King Odin, claiming the throne of Asgard… Father laughed like a crazy man that day.
Once he returned from your coronation ceremony, he was a changed man… muttering something about how unfathomable your strength was… And how mighty his gambling skills were…
He convinced himself that he was the god of gamblers too, and all his gambles would turn out successful… He got addicted to gambling.
Soon, he went around losing everything… Even the throne of Vanaheim was gambled off to Kvasir… that damned smartass fooled father into losing everything.
I had to run around fighting battles to reclaim the throne of Vanaheim, but it is all in chaos, father is still out on his madness, almost every god has started his own faction, skirmishes ongoing everywhere…
Thankfully, you have kept the nine realms in peace for the last century… the current Vanaheim… can't handle a war.
Sigh, it can't even be properly called the realm of Vanaheim right now, I am not strong enough to defeat all the Gods together, only Father can do that… So, the throne has lost all it's meaning, the domain I can actually control, is just the capital city…
And even then, I am being constantly harassed and besieged from all sides, assassination attempts are pretty much every day, and they have convinced the Vanir populace that I am an incompetent ruler, born of the crazy king who lost it all."
Holy hell… this was fucked up… Njord witnessed me transforming the Aesir, and turned crazy, but he thought his gambling skills were legendary since he took a gamble and gave his daughter to me, which will be the reason Vanaheim would be safe.
Technically, he wasn't wrong on that part, I won't attack Vanaheim, but he turned crazy from that… I mean gambling and losing everything off is not that rare, but you are a God king!
He gambled off his divine position! Kvasir technically became the true ruler of the Vanirs, Frey on the other hand is just an aggressor who has stolen the throne from the true king…
This narrative can easily be used by the other gods to oppose Frey, who was never a king material. Frey might be stronger than the other Vanir gods, but that's nothing special, he isn't overwhelmingly powerful, if four of five gods gang up on him, he's toast.
"Umm… do you want me to suppress them for you?" I asked awkwardly, since this was basically just saying- let me do it, you have skill issue.
"No… I don't want to do this anymore… I would much rather spend my time on Alfheim… Sister, Brother-in-law, if you can, just force father to take the throne back, or anyone else… I don't want to be involved in this shit anymore." Frey pleaded.
"Sure… I will do whatever I can. Don't worry, I promise, if you don't wish to rule anymore, then you can rest and live your life in peace… I will bring an end to the ongoing chaos, and ensure that Vanaheim lands back to the rule of its rightful rulers." I replied with a gentle and sweet smile.
