Chapter 278 - chapter 78

Hamar let himself 'sink into his consciousness', he imagined himself dropping slowly into a dark deep abyss of black sludge eventually falling into his own mind. Hou, on the other hand, could sense that he was free to take control and did so freely. He opened his eyes and flexed his fingers, as he does every time he takes over.

He looked around to his surroundings, "A forest?"

He looked into the vast expanse of trees with long brown trunks and vivid green leaves. He walked over the freshly moistened blades of grass with his bare feet. He could sense anything protruding but Hamar's body was enhanced by aura and even steeping into a blade would be harmless.

Hou raised his hand to his eye and rubbed it while he adjusted his vision, peeling back a layer of reality. He stopped looking at the physical and looked purely at the laws behind it all.

"Hmm nothing perfect yet," he scammed continuously until he spotted something and readied himself, "There!"

He kicked of his back foot and in a split moment appeared exactly where he wanted to be. The leaves behind him all blew themselves off and burst into a brilliant light. The tree trunks all flung themselves back, leaning, just staying grounded enough to not fly away. Hou bent down and picked up a short purple flower.

Hamar, who had been trying to acclimatise himself to bring in the 'backseat', recalled, "Footwork! Footwork and techniques Hou! You could a damn near destroyed half the forest!"

Hou looked over his shoulder and laughed nervously, "Sorry, I'm just not used to the power of your aura just yet. It's much stronger now, I'll need to remember to utilise it carefully."

He looked back, "But looks here, I found a rare Poisonous Blood-Sky Peony..." He touched the centre of the flower and the petals all flapped.

As they did, a purple miasma covered the air and flew into Hou's face. He smiled, "It contains a rich amount of miasma, perfect to contact Master!"

Hamar acknowledged him but also spoke, "This is your area of expertise, I'll leave you to it, so I'll recover my mental energy for a while. Just wake me if you need anything. Bye!"

Hou rolled his eyes, "Bye..." And once Hamar hibernated, Hou chuckled, "It's not that boring."

He pointed a finger at the flower and sent out a line of aura, which he used to keep hold of the peony in the air. While he did so, he sued another hand to brush at where he plucked the flower.

"And Blood-Sky Peony grow where there is ample blood and sight of the sky." He looked up, "And it turns out this little outing where there isn't any trees is just perfect for that."

He looked into he forest while thinking, "Though that means that there must be an equal amount of blood as there is sky..."

Hou knew much about plant life and the Blood-Sky Peony was no exception. The basis of this flower was that it absorbed both blood and sky laws, red and blue usually. And so if there's a purple Blood-Sky Peony that means there must a perfect balance of the two elements otherwise the shade would change.

Hou dug into the ground where he dug the peony and carefully injected a thin stream of aura down into the earth, "And If I remember correctly, these peony collect a huge amount of laws in their roots as nodules."

He observed under the ground with Aura and found the nodules, using carefully control he wrapped the aura around the pods and pulled them through the ground.

Hou stroked the five or so blood red nodules and frowned, "Red...they should be purple. Perhaps there's been blood recently which tainted the outside, I'll cut into one."

He held out a finger and a thin line of aura formed itself into a scalpel, Hou used the scalpel and cut across the glossy red surface. Immediately a sweet scent filled the air and the grass started to wilt. Hou quickly pressed the incision with his thumb, "Good, the inside seems to be filled with miasma still."

He cracked his neck and stood up, taking the nodules with him, carrying them in the air like he did with the flower.

Moving to the centre of the clearing, he looked into he sky and squinted, "This should be enough..." He circulated Hamar's aura and pushed it down one leg, coordinating it with a stomp. Instantly, Hou jumped into the air and as he did, he looked down at the surface which had been cleared into a crater.

Smirk.

Hou smirked and spun in the air a few times, landing gently onto the floor using a technique of using aura to push against the air while falling.

He interlocked his fingers and cracked them, "This'll be enough room for a formation. If I use the miasma laws to channel into the wider network of the world...I should be able to use my knowledge of Master to make context with him through the shared miasma dao."

He threw the nodules of miasma into a perimeter around himself and used aura channels to link them up. Placing the flower and open mobile within the centre with himself he started the formation.

"With just one crucial ingredient needed to fully ensure this will work. Normally just normal miasma and some fancy formation should let us mess with a lesser dao of the world but..." He held out two fingers into a point and spun it, condensing a point of light on the fingertip, "With causality I should have the authority to work with the dao not by the dao (of miasma)."

Punching into the air above him, Hou shot out the spot of causality and the world seemed to flicker as the formation spun up. The formation was supercharged and the miasma laws inside were quickly sucked dry, "Only a brief connection is needed, then Master will know what to do and get us." Hou crossed his fingers and hoped his speculation was right.

At the same time, he was distracted. Deep in his consciousness he was processing a plan he couldn't quite finish yet...it was the thing he got a revelation about earlier. He couldn't understand the plan...not yet, he needed to consult his Master.
