Chapter 22 - Dragons!

Construction of the space platform was going smoothly. It wasn't really an actual space platform even though it's purpose was to connect the kingdom to other worlds with technology. It was a humongous tower, hundreds of floors planned equipped with portals that directly go to hundreds of not thousands of other planets. Nearly every planet in Laniakea had this type of portal hub space platform this allowing for technology and resources to spread at an exponential rate with each planet connected to multiple others. Even so the construction of this tower was going to take months at the very least.

It wasn't just the various exotic matters that needed to be arranged. The spacetime and higher dimensional construction for the portals to permanently reside there also had to be built, connected, and organized across all of Laniakea's cosmic infrastructure.

Luckily nobody in the team was actually assigned to do any of this kind of work. It was all being built by swarms of drones automatically. And only Mikitaka fully knows what kind of technology was used for the cosmic scale engineering.

What Chizuru was simulating was the logistics and bureaucracies of the various factions and organizations. By now every major organization aggressively wanted to take advantage of the changes set by the Future King.

"I want to have the 38th floor of the space platform."

"No It has been taken by the Grand Ravens Guild, Holy Dragons Guild, and... a lot of other big guilds."

Jannet was the face of the operation, she did all the talking and explaining to the big leagues of Avenus. Nearly everyone who might have opposed this operation fiercely enough to stop it or delay it was already gone thanks to the Future Kings purge.

As for Keith and Natsumi, they were doing... business.

"For the last time! Stop stealing dragon eggs!"

Natsumi gave an innocent expression of protest, clutching the various dragon eggs he had somehow found in some random sewer basement.

"But dragons!"

Keith held his hands in front of him as if trying to explain something.

"You found these eggs in a sewer."

"yeah."

"They were inside of a summoning circle, correct?."

"Seems about right."

"You fought through various dark robed mentally ill people to get this egg?"

"Yep."

"So shouldn't it be obvious that this is some kind of cultist chimera summoned dragon egg that could be a so called 'death flag' for you."

"Yeah that makes sense."

Keith shook Natsumi by his shoulders.

"You literally cleared a fantasy cult dungeon and stole its egg! Are you trying to kill yourself again!"

"But dragons!"

Keith made a disgusted expression. Once again Natsumi was being stupid somehow.

"What the hell is that monkeys paw side effect bothering me again."

"What did you say?"

"I said your stupid monkeys paw side effect is taking effect again!" Keith yelled straight at Natsumi's face.

Natsumi held an expression of incomprehension. He clearly didn't understand what nonsense Keith was saying about whatever he was talking about.

Natsumi began injecting his wish power into the dragon egg.

"This dragon egg seems to be absorbing energy form its surroundings. That is a clear flag that it will be a powerful familiar in the future! I've read it a thousand times."

Natsumi smiled in self satisfaction. His genius in matters of flags and tropes once again served him well. All those fantasy manga he read had served him well.

Meanwhile Keith had enough of Natsumi's nonsense and reverted to his usual quiet. All he could sense was an enormous negativity and malice coming from the dragon egg. Although nobody else in the world carried cursed energy, he could easily determine what he needed to using the techniques Chaos and Harmony along with Idol Transfiguration to perceive and touch souls from a distance. This was a malice on par with what he felt when he integrated the Sukuna template.

Keith had enough of Natsumi for now. Whatever misfortune he would attract now would only serve to help later. He decided that wandering through the chakra based fantasy world of the Avenus kingdoms capital city would be more interesting.

The sights he saw while walking along were fascinating to say the least. It was in a sense a very stereotypical looking fantasy setting with demihumans and humans walking along, shops such as blacksmiths, Keith even checked out the guild halls front door which was attached an extremely extravagant building.

'Chakra is everywhere. It's saturated the environment in the same way natural energy does.'

"Hey you!"

Keith looked at the door. It was opened and a woman wearing basic commoner clothes was yelling at Keith.

"you've been staring at the guild door for minutes now! Don't be shy! You can join the guild! Just come in!"

Keith decided to humor her.

'No harm in trying'

He walked inside the guild hall as the woman guided him to a table where she immediately sat down and began drinking beer.

"You seem like a tough fellow but you're so shy just staring at the door like that."

"I was just wandering around."

"not with how you were staring at that door."

"It's big and fancy."

"Ain't everything round here."

Keith decided to ask about how people used mana here. Even though he got the full brief before coming to the planet he wanted to hear it from the mouth of a native anyway. In addition it was the only conversation topic he could pull from the top of his head.

"So I heard that Magicians have... how many stages? I've become very strong but I haven't really connected with anyone so I don't really know the specifics."

"You live under a rock or something?"

Keith didn't react.

"Eh whatever." She shrugged, "Magus's got 12 stages. I mean 7 stages. Ignore what I just said."

"12 stages?"

"7 stages! I don't speak everything I want to say perfectly. Anyways, they name the stages after water on the ground. Like stream and lake and stuff like that."

"Water?"

"They made me memorize this in the royal academy way back when. Give me a moment... it starts with pond."

She was really struggling to remember.

"And there was Lake in there too."

She continued to contemplate with her hands massaging her temples.

And there's also Great Lake which I think is unoriginal... Yeah I forgot the rest."

"What do they mean?"

"It's just a metaphor for how much mana you have stored in your mana hearts. Here I can show you mine."

She began lifting her shirt, which attracted the attention of everyone in the room who instantly noticed. Luckily though she stopped just below her boobs. In which everyone in the room looked the other way, this was a civilized space. Nobody wants to be caught staring.

On her stomach a drawing that was similar to the seals you'd see on jinchuriki except more geometric with shapes in it instead of having densely written words like with traditional fuinjutsu. It seemed to have layers, like it was a seal that was sealed 6 times on top of it. But geometric.

Keith raised an eyebrow. He didn't bother reacting in any other way.

"I'm one of the few Leviathan Mages in the world! My mana heart has 7 circles!"

This world had a unique way of using chakra in comparison to the shinobi way. Instead of just learning jutsu, endlessly training, and relying on natural talent. The magicians and knights of this world had a much more structured method of growth. Magicians would engrave special magic circles on their bodies and absorb the ambient chakra of the environment into these seals.

In shinobi terms all magicians were just jinchuriki's of pure chakra. They measured their power by comparing themselves to bodies of water in correlation to the amount of chakra they have in their bodies.

Pond

Stream

River

Lake

Great Lake

Oceanic

Leviathan

A total of 7 levels. These magicians also never discovered hand signs. Instead they had mastered and utilized fuinjutsu in an incredibly unique way. They weren't just concerned with just sealing. They had incredibly deep insights on how something can be sealed, how it's sealed, and how it's unsealed.

Think of it. With storage seals you can summon an object with a puff of smoke. Meanwhile in the Naruto canon the unsealing of Kurama in the fight against Pain literally grew flesh and bone. These magicians mastered the input, storage, and output of fuinjutsu they called spells like programmers to create varied effects for everything.

"I see."

"..."

'She probably wanted to surprise me with her admittedly incredibly high up status.'

"You should finish your drink. You might forget about it."

She sat down, dejected. Until...

"I can tell you about knights too!"

She slammed her hands on the table and dramatically stood up. Dispelling against whatever dejection or awkwardness she had just felt.

"So knights have 7... no 8 stages. Though I like calling them warriors cause not every knight is part of any kind of knighthood. And though I think it's boring, they just refer to each stage by their number."

She began yapping to no end at Keith.

Knights AKA Warriors literally all just used the 8 inner gates. They referred to each gate as stages one through eight. They combined this mastery of the gates with various martial applications of chakra. Their ability to use chakra to enhance their bodies far surpassed anything within the Naruto canon. Chakra or Mana volume is also never a concern for them since they fight using the eight gates where volume is irrelevant.

"Did you know knights can walk on walls! They can stick to everything! When they fight indoors they can jump on the roof and fight upside down."

And so she continued yapping about her apparent fixation on knight to Keith for the whole day and night. And neither of them ever asked for each others name.
