Rocky, on the other hand, was not handling this well at all.
His eyes grew huge and watery, tears pooling dangerously at the corners as he stared at the desk like it had personally betrayed him. Science was terrifying. Too many words. Too many ideas. Too many things inside the body.
He lowered his head and began rubbing his hands together unconsciously, the soft scrrk… scrrk sound of stone brushing against stone filling the quiet space around him.
Luna's ears twitched.
"Stop it, Rocky!" she snapped, already on edge.
Rocky froze instantly.
His hands dropped to his lap. His shoulders slumped. He looked up at her with the saddest expression imaginable, lips trembling slightly, eyes shiny like he had just been told snacks were cancelled forever.
Luna's irritation flickered. She looked away with a huff. "…Just—don't make noise," she muttered.
Rocky nodded quickly, blinking back tears.
