Chapter 151 - CHAPTER 152

Chapter 152: Psychic Person

"Mi~ Human boy, do you know about the 'Psychic'?"

Mew's voice echoed directly into Ash's mind, bright yet layered with an ancient tone. But before Ash could answer, Mew flicked his tail, chuckling to himself.

"Mi~ What am I doing, asking a regular human child if he understands the secrets of the psychic path… That's absurd."

Mew hovered upside down for a moment, then rotated midair like a lazy ribbon. He continued telepathically, as if narrating to himself.

"Mi~ 'Psychic Person' that was the name we used long ago… in the age when your ancient humans still believed the gods lived on mountaintops and spoke through the stars. Back then, they called them oracles or chosen ones humans who could reach the heavens and commune directly with us."

"In today's language, your kind calls them Trainers. But there's a big difference. Trainers capture and command ordinary Pokémon. A Psychic Person a spiritualist forms a contract with a Divine Beast. And not just any contract… a bond initiated and chosen by the beast itself."

Mew circled Ash again slowly, his tail looping behind him like a ribbon as his voice grew deeper.

"The spiritual contract is based on equality, unlike the hierarchy of Trainer and Pokémon. You don't kneel. You don't command. You stand beside us and we walk with you by choice."

"Even so, being bonded to us doesn't mean you can force us to act. Divine Beasts do not obey commands. Even a spiritualist cannot make us attack or retreat. Our cooperation is freely given… or withheld."

"By your modern terms, a Psychic Person is a human recognized and accepted by a Mythical or Legendary Pokémon a true partner, not a master."

Mew flicked his paw, conjuring a shimmering pulse of aura, almost like a contract scroll materializing from nothing.

"And yes," he added with a smirk, "a formal contract like this carries many powers and responsibilities. But I won't overwhelm you with all that now. Your little human brain probably couldn't process the deeper layers of it in one go."

"Anyway, the important part is—Mi~ I've decided I like you. So I'm going to offer you the contract. Happy now? You should be jumping for joy!"

Mew floated with his tiny paws folded smugly over his chest, beaming like a mischievous prince from a fairy tale.

Ash raised an eyebrow.

"'Psychic Person'? 'Spiritual contract'? Mew, you want to sign a contract with me… just because I resemble your old friend? Even though this is technically our first meeting and you didn't even ask my name?"

Ash glanced at Mew, who looked like an adorable pink plushie but clearly had the attitude of an arrogant and capricious boy.

"Mi~ What? I need to ask your name before deciding? Ha! I, Mew, act by instinct and heart. I don't need permission or reasons to make choices." Mew puffed out his chest in theatrical pride. "I do as I please, human brat."

Ash chuckled. "Heh. You're something else."

"But let's be honest you already said it yourself. Signing a contract with you doesn't give me any control over you. It's basically just like… becoming friends, right? That's not exactly a shocking development in human society."

Ash's eyes twinkled with dry humor as he continued, "And while you're a Divine Beast and that's incredibly rare, with all due respect, being your friend seems like a full-time job. You're a bit… dramatic."

Mew huffed, tail curling defensively.

"Still," Ash added with a smile, "I am glad I met you. As a time traveler, I've always loved Pokémon but I don't worship them. Even the Legendary ones. Respect? Always. Awe? Sometimes. But worship? Never."

He looked up at Mew, who, despite his prideful attitude, gave a soft smile in return.

And in that moment, the bond between human and Legendary Pokémon.one forged not by force, but by mutual recognition began to take shape.

Of course, Ash understood deep down that becoming a "Psychic Person" and signing a psychic contract wasn't as simple as adding a contact on QQ or WeChat. His lighthearted attitude was partly intentional he found Mew's self-important behavior amusing, and teasing it was his way of leveling the field between them.

After all, Ash could tell that Mew wasn't hostile. Despite being a Mythical Pokémon with enough power to reshape the world, Mew didn't exhibit any malicious intent. He wasn't about to attack or hurt Ash on a whim.

But what Ash didn't know was that his equal, relaxed attitude and the way he treated Mew as a peer rather than a sacred idol only made Mew feel more connected to him.

As the original Pokémon, the guardian of the Tree of Beginning, and the genetic ancestor of all Pokémon species, Mew was a singular being unique and ageless. With millennia behind him, worship was nothing new. But what he truly longed for wasn't praise or reverence it was companionship.

Especially since that day thousands of years ago, when a human named Sir Aaron had once risked everything to protect him, Mew's sense of loneliness had only grown. Aaron had shared his emotions with Mew, creating a deep bond and since then, Mew had yearned for another friend who could treat him as Aaron once did: as an equal.

"Mi~ No more arguing!!"

"Anyway, I've already decided. I like you, and I'm going to sign a contract with you! You don't get a say in this. Just give me your name already, and after we sign the contract, I'll sneak off and have my own fun!"

Mew crossed his tiny arms and rolled his eyes, clearly still full of himself.

"All right, all right. You're the boss," Ash said with a wry smile. Mew's haughty tone combined with his adorable form was oddly endearing.

Of course, even though Mew claimed he'd "hide and have fun" after the contract, Ash could barely contain the excitement bubbling in his heart. A Mythical Pokémon—the literal source of all Pokémon genetics was offering to become his partner, not through battle, but through a bond.

Moments ago, he'd been wondering how to get close enough to Mew to even touch him and copy his abilities. Now, the opportunity was not only knocking it was breaking down the door.

"My name is Ash," he said truthfully, meeting Mew's eyes.

"Mi~ Ash? All right then let's get started!" Mew's pink aura pulsed brightly as he gave a satisfied nod.

"The Law of Mew, between illusion and reality. I summon the one to form the contract. The boy named Ash, chosen by fate—I invoke this pact in the name of the Genetic Archive, the Spirit and Body, and as Guardian of the World Tree."

"The Psychic Contract… is now formed!"

As Mew's voice echoed with ancient authority, both his and Ash's bodies were suddenly lifted off the ground by an unseen force. Ash didn't resist he barely noticed. His awareness had already shifted.

Ash's consciousness and soul were pulled into a strange space vast, dark, yet somehow not frightening.

Though at first glance it seemed pitch black, Ash soon realized it wasn't simple darkness. A soft, white aura surrounded his body, as though someone had added glowing post-effects around him like in the summer camp short film "Fishing at Little Rock Pool."

Across from him, Mew hovered in a similar glow only his was a brilliant pink, radiating like a miniature sun.

And then Ash noticed something else.

The blackness around them wasn't empty it flowed. It moved. As he rubbed his eyes to focus, Ash realized the darkness was a massive current a river of glyphs, symbols, and shapes, shifting like ink in water.

It wasn't shadows it was Unown. Thousands no, countless Unown floated past, forming streams and eddies like ancient, living runes.

The Unown had been first discovered in the Ruins of Alph in the Johto Region. While classified as Psychic-type Pokémon, even modern researchers didn't fully understand what they were. Their connection to dimension, perception, and psychic reality was still being studied.

In fact, no one in the Pokémon world had truly figured out if Unown were Pokémon in the conventional sense. The researchers who cataloged them gave them the name "Unown," but the truth of their origin and their true purpose—remained a mystery.

Seeing so many of them here, woven into the very fabric of this space Mew had created for the psychic bond, Ash realized something important: the Unown weren't just creatures. They were constructs of thought and meaning, possibly ancient forces from the very beginning of time.

They might not even be called "Unown" here. They might not even be Pokémon.

But Ash didn't have time to ponder further.

Because the contract of the psychic had already begun to unfold.
