"Oh!!" Ash responded quickly, taking a step forward as instructed. But the moment his foot moved, he realized that while the surface beneath him gave the illusion of solidity, it was more like a whirlpool of semi-substance like he was suspended over a vast, cosmic tide.
The space between him and the glowing scroll was no more than three meters. And yet, as soon as he attempted to walk, it felt as though he were trapped in invisible quicksand. Each movement was heavy, futile, and bound by some unknown force.
"Mi~ Keep your body and spirit relaxed," came Mew's voice again, though it now sounded far away, echoing through what felt like layers of overlapping dimensions. "Whether you're swept away or sinking don't fear it. Focus only on your will to reach the contract."

Most Divine Beasts, or Legendary Pokémon, would never offer a psychic contract to a six-year-old such beings know that the soul of a child rarely endures the mental trials within.
But Ash was not an ordinary child.
He was a time traveler, reborn with the memories and soul of an adult. His consciousness was forged from two lifetimes, granting him a mind far more mature than his body would suggest.
And Mew being a timeless being who once shared a sacred bond with Sir Aaron, the aura guardian had noticed. Ash's face, his aura, and his deep understanding all reminded Mew of Aaron. As long as Ash stayed calm, body and mind in harmony, and his intent pure and unshaken, the overwhelming force that once pulled him away began to lose its grip. Slowly, he transformed from a man drowning in a current into something more a presence that walked the waters like the Aura Guardians of legend.
The torrent still flowed. The Unown still surged. But Ash no longer retreated.
And then his direction reversed. He began to move toward the contract, like a stone in an escalator current, drawn forward by invisible tracks. Every step now closed the distance that had once seemed infinite.
Then, in an instant, the impossible was undone. The eons collapsed into a breath, and Ash stood once more before the blazing scroll of the Psychic Contract.

"Gujū!!" Just as joy sparked in Ash's chest and he reached out toward the glowing contract, the Unown torrent beneath his feet suddenly changed. It wasn't flowing anymore it had become a swamp.
Without warning, Ash sank.
The world turned dark, sluggish, and crushing. He didn't fall into liquid he plummeted into a psychic abyss, a fogged void like the bottom of the Mariana Trench, deep within the subconscious mind.
But Ash had already learned.
Instead of panicking, he anchored himself. He calmed his breath, cleared his thoughts, and let his body rise naturally just like a helium balloon rising skyward. The weight disappeared. His body floated. And with the momentum of spirit rather than muscle, he soared back upward.
In the blink of an eye, he burst free from the abyss and rose to the contract once again. The radiant scroll pulsed like a miniature sun.
This time, Ash didn't rush or rejoice. There was no giddy excitement, no pride, no greed. Like a healer tending to an injured wild Pokémon, his heart was balanced free of self-interest or ambition.
He stepped forward.
And with a calm, steady hand, Ash placed his palm against the glowing scroll of the Psychic Connection Contract.
