He unfastened her seatbelt for her.
Selena's lashes fluttered slightly. Her voice was soft. "Thank you."
Charlie said nothing.
When she got out of the car, he didn't linger—he drove away almost immediately.
Selena watched the car disappear down the road until her bodyguard approached. "Miss?"
She turned back, her lips curving into a light smile. "Let's go."
When Charlie returned home, only Bonnie was left in the living room.
The moment she saw him, she trotted over, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Charlie raised an eyebrow. "What are you looking at?"
"You sent Selena home, didn't you?"
He placed the car keys on the table and made a brief sound of acknowledgment.
"How did it feel?"
"What do you mean by that?" Charlie walked past her toward the stairs.
Bonnie followed close behind. "Did your heart skip a beat? Selena's liked you for years, you know."
