From afar, thousands of swords pierced through the darkness of the sea, moving at the speed of sound. Anything in their path would crumble and be destroyed. All of it was manifested by Meng Meng, the inheritor of Teng Xuwan.
Thousands of swords, emanating destructive energy, streaked across the sky toward the altar. From a distance, two giants were witnessing it all. They were in disbelief. As far as they could retreat, fear covered their faces. Their bodies trembled—they had never before felt such a life-and-death crisis. When the swords passed by them, they turned and retreated another thousand feet away.
Meng Meng's body was a bloody mess. He knew that if it had been even a mere second longer, he would have perished. His entire body was numb, his soul trembling. Using three drops of his soul body, his soul orb spiraled into chaos. But, to his surprise, the formation remained intact, radiating destructive waves of energy. If a mortal came near, they would collapse; if a low-level cultivator approached, they would be overwhelmed with unprecedented fear.
He took a heavy breath. His eyes glowed like stars. Without hesitation, he rushed toward the swords. One step... two steps... and after thirty steps, despair struck.
Far below, in the bottomless, pitch-dark sea nearly a thousand feet deep, there was a massive altar filled with beasts. They did not sense the calamity about to befall them.
Meng Meng appeared 10,000 feet away from the altar. Behind him, those thousands of swords emerged from the formation. He smiled and shouted, "Drain the sea!"
When the sword tips touched the water, it evaporated instantly. Within a second, thousands of swords landed, and the entire sea began evaporating. Vapor filled the entire area as Meng Meng's hands moved swiftly, creating ancient ruins all over his body. He shouted, "Imprison the sea!"
Almost a thousand feet of sea was trapped inside a colossal formation — a colossal imprisoning formation once created, it could imprison everything within 100,000 feet.
The swords landed on the sea like the might of heaven itself. All the sea vaporized. The whole formation was filled with water vapor. Meng Meng used all his vision. More than a thousand feet of water evaporated, but the most terrifying sight was that the water vapor turned bloody red, and screams of terror came from the depths of the bottomless sea. The vapor turned deeper red, and the screams grew louder. The steam filled Meng Meng's eyes. He was terrified, biting his tongue to endure.
The swords pierced through the beasts' bodies—none dared resist. It was instant death. Blood pooled everywhere, rivers of blood flowing in the pit, but most of it was extinguished by water.
Finally, after some time, the bottomless sea had become a pit filled with pitch-black void within a thousand feet.
Meanwhile, two giants were rushing toward the massive formation, creating sonic booms in their wake. They roared like wild beasts. Meng Meng felt their presence and, without hesitation, took three steps and appeared 500 feet inside the pit. His face was deathly pale; he had lost almost all his energy. Using three swift steps now, he could only rely on one-third of his original speed due to his injuries.
Two rays of light moved at the speed of sound. When they reached the formation, they slammed into it, creating a hole. The formation was damaged but still held. They moved swiftly, following the divine sense.
Almost a thousand feet deep, a single dim light flickered wildly. On the way, Meng Meng used luminous stones to create multiple formations. Their power was low but still enough to help him.
The two giants rushed through the pit, destroying every formation barehanded. They were closing in. After some time, they broke the last formation. Their eyes burned with killing intent, and they roared, moving faster—it was a hunt.
Meng Meng felt a life-and-death crisis like never before. He moved as fast as he could, but the two giants caught up. They closed in from both sides. One threw a punch; the other delivered a kick. The pressure from their blows was so intense he could barely breathe. Death seemed to call him, but he bit his tongue and filled his eyes with unyielding will. Using swift step, he vanished.
The giants were dumbfounded. Their kick and fist collided, shattering their own limbs. Flesh and blood covered their faces. They felt pain like never before. Roaring with killing intent, they went mad, turning into wild beasts.
Meng Meng reappeared 500 feet away. But before he could even fully appear, the giants, born with the talent to detect even the slightest divine sense, sensed him. They appeared instantly before him.
Meng Meng's face was deathly pale. He coughed up blood. The shock was unimaginable, his vision blurry. Before the giants could catch him, he shouted, "Instant Teleport!"
This was the first time Meng Meng used this spell. It consumed almost half of his spiritual energy, so he never used it before. But now, at this critical moment, it was a matter of life or death.
He shattered his star, bursting waves of spiritual energy from his body, and teleported 2,000 feet below the pit. His vision blurred. It felt like he would lose consciousness any moment, but he still rushed deeper.
This pit was almost 10,000 feet deep. Meng Meng had covered 7,000 feet and had 3,000 more to go. When the two giants sensed his divine sense again, they rushed toward him as fast as they could.
Two minutes passed.
The two giants caught up again. Meng Meng had already used all his tricks. It felt like he had lost hope, but still, he resisted. Being a heaven-defying cultivator, despite his bloody body, he fought on. One giant caught his leg and threw him into the formation. The formation began to collapse, cracks spreading from the impact.
He fought through the pain, his vision blurred, consciousness fading. The giant grabbed his hand and ripped it off entirely. Blood covered his iron hand and the beast's face. The giant showed an excited smile.
The pain instantly awakened Meng Meng's senses. His face was deathly pale. His soul and flesh trembled violently. His pupils shrank. His iron hand bled rivers of blood.
Both giants appeared before and behind Meng Meng, throwing punches that created sonic booms. His heart pounded as if it would explode any moment.
At that moment, the talisman he had placed on himself activated, creating an indestructible shield surrounding Meng Meng's entire body.
Boom!!
A massive explosion erupted. The faces of the two giants went deathly pale. One giant grabbed the other and placed him in front as a meat shield — a vain attempt to save himself.
The front giant's body collapsed, his blood evaporated. The one behind lost half his body; only bones remained. But still, he was alive.
Monstrous killing intent filled his body. Using his remaining strength, he rushed toward the threat — Meng Meng.
Meng Meng was still in a daze. The giant grabbed his bones. He bit his tongue and used the last of his power to take five swift steps, vanishing and reappearing above the altar.
His whole body was numb. It felt like he would collapse. Every ounce of his soul trembled. He spat blood from every pore.
To increase the agony, he crashed down on the altar. Some bones cracked. He was like a mortal now.
Every bit of spiritual energy he had was used to take out five top-tier luminous stones. He placed them on the pillars surrounding the altar—four at the corners and one in the center.
After the stones were placed—
Boom!
The whole place was suddenly filled with spiritual energy, and slowly his body began to vanish. But the giant was closing in on Meng Meng. Using both his flesh hand and his skeletal hand, he launched an attack.
Boom!
The entire altar was crushed, the altar trembled, the formation shattered, and even his bones broke. He fell to his knees.
After the formation broke, a tide of pitch-dark water flooded the pit. The giant roared madly with joy, believing he had killed him. But when he looked down, he saw nothing. Meng Meng had already escaped.
The giant was dumbfounded and roared in frustration. Within seconds, he was engulfed by the entire pitch-dark sea — the very pit where the water had filled once again.
Far away from any word, a stream of light appeared. From it emerged a boy, his body a bloody mess, his face drenched in blood. He let out a smile and muttered, "I have rewritten my fate again."
Slowly, his eyes closed.
It was Meng Meng.
