I do not know when or how it happened, but I became conscious, as if I felt awake from something. It felt as though I had just woken up from a long, deep slumber. At the same time, I realised I was in a state where I couldn't move or take any action. To be precise, I couldn't see anything; all I experienced was darkness. As if that wasn't enough, I felt my body immersed in a warm ocean. I'm unsure how much time passed, but it felt like an eternity.
During this time, I've been pondering how and why I ended up in this situation. I came up with many theories, and one thing became certain. Someone must have transferred my consciousness from my original body into that of a newborn.
Although I was sure of this, I couldn't understand how it had happened. After all, in my previous life, I possessed the strength of a god, capable of rivalling many god-like beings. In my actual life, I am... or rather... I was... an otherworldly summoner but not a typical kind, as I am more of a necromancer kind but not a necromancer kind.
So, for any being to transfer my consciousness into a newborn body means they are either true divine gods, or someone who moved my consciousness must have known about my 'thing', which is what I could suspect, as it could be the possible answer.
As I was thinking about possible theories, I started to feel my body moving, but it felt pretty cramped. With that movement, I realised I was being born. Okay, that sounds weird. Let's say I'm coming out of the womb. Okay, that sounds even more weird... Let's say that I am going to be brought into existence in this world...
As I was being pushed out of the womb, I saw light entering my eyes. As soon as I got out of the womb, I could hear voices that did not sound like any language or accent that I knew of.
"It is a boy." "He looks adorable." "Oohhh, look, he is smiling so happily." "That baby looks really happy to see the light, and he is even smiling so cutely." "He looks like a healthy baby."
"Mistress Cesline, it is a success. You should rest." "Thanks, Yukino, but I want to see what he looks like."
I do not understand what the voices or chatter around me are saying, but I do know one thing. Either they don't have a curtain, or they didn't close it to block the light. Why? Because a ray of light is burning my eyes. Oh... world... why is this the first thing that's happening to me? From this blinding light, it's a bloody flashbang straight up. Why must I suffer from this as soon as I come out?
I took some time to adjust my eyes to the light, though it is not like I have a choice. I do not know who is holding me, but they are making me face the light. Even as I am screaming out of my lungs, they did not care or realise that I am dying by the blinding light, straight up burning my eyes.
If someone asked me how it is possible to have normal sunlight passing through a window, which would burn your eyes, well, it isn't. But it sure does blind me, though.
As soon as I had finished adjusting my eyes, the first thing that entered my eyes was a suspicious quack. Okay, maybe a doctor; there were even some pretty young maids around me and a pretty young lady who was holding me with a smile on her face. I observed her features; she has silver-white hair and pale grey eyes. She seems to be in her late twenties, but I can discern that looks can be deceiving after all. I can feel the mana in the room; not only that, but I can also feel many other elements that I am well familiar with in the room, as I could feel them through my body senses.
After observing her, I look around. Everything appears quite normal, although I suspect that the room is part of a noble home. The decorations are pretty, and the walls have a refined taste, which reinforces my belief. Although I can't understand their language, it seems that one of the maids addressed the woman holding me with a title that suggests a significant status.
As I was observing, the door to the room opened, revealing a woman who looked somewhat familiar. She was carrying a baby who appeared to have just been born; it was still a bit damp and not completely dried off. In contrast, I had been dry for quite a while, proving I am older than the baby that she is holding on her arm. Following the woman was a young man who seemed to be in his late twenties, like her. He had a notable presence that suggested he was pretty intense, but to me, he felt very weak.
'He looks pretty familiar. Seriously, why do the woman and the man seem so familiar?' I asked myself, trying to recall any memories.
'Doesn't he seem like the character from the game called The Harem Life of the Five Greats of Evanslyna that you always played?' A voice spoke in my mind.
As I pondered the thought, the voice made me realise that he does resemble the father of one of the protagonists. If I remember correctly, his name is Caedros Destenebres. I contemplated this and found myself in agreement with the voice. Wait a second... that voice sounds so familiar.
'How have you been, lord?' The familiar voice echoed in my mind.
"Oh God, I thought I was separated from you all during the nine months of what I suspected to be my prenatal development. How are you able to speak in my mind now, Envy?" I voiced my thoughts aloud. Though the people around me did not look at me, as they thought it was normal for me to speak gibberish as a baby.
'Lord, I just woke up recently. I also felt like I was in a nap for quite a while,' Envy spoke in my mind.
'Wait, so if you just woke up and were napping during my prenatal development, then, do not tell me...' As I voiced my concern, I was interrupted.
'Yawwnnnn, Lord, could you sleep more, please?' A voice complained in my mind.
'Loordddd, I think we need to eat something,' another voice complained in my mind.
'Arghh, we need to vent some desire. Oh, the woman holding us seems cute,' another voice spoke in my mind playfully.
'WHO FUCKING RUINED MY NAP!?' a voice shouted in my mind aggressively.
'Why would we want some mere mortal woman? Also, why does the place around look so lowly?' A voice said in my mind, sounding firm with authority.
'Lord, I have calculated the value of everything around us. It can fetch a bit of price,' another voice spoke in my mind. His voice sounded calculating.
At that moment, my mind ached from the simultaneous resonance of all these voices. Great, I had a throbbing headache right away after birth, man? Can't a man have a day without any incidents?
Even after that, the six new voices are still resonating in my mind, whining like babies.
'Can you all be quiet? This body's brain isn't developed to handle an instant headache right after its birth. Or else do you want me to silence you guys permanently?' I threatened in my mind.
As soon as I finished speaking, the voices in my head fell silent. These voices belong to the Seven Deadly Sins: Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth. They are the sources of my daily headaches in my original life. They were also among the highest-ranking devils in the universe.
'Thank you.'
I thanked them in my mind and continued to observe the situation.
"Ho, it looks like you had a successful childbirth too, quite unexpected. Congratulations, you mere mistress," the woman who came inside scoffed as she carried the recent newborn.
Wow, she seems-
"Annoying?" Wrath spoke in my mind as if he read my thoughts.
'Yes... she also seems to harbour a strong dislike for the woman who just gave birth to me. I have also recognised her. She is Thalindra Destenebres, the mother of one of the five protagonists in this game, or should I say, in this world.' I thought to myself as I confirmed my analysis.
I was considering staying in this world for just a short vacation before eventually dying. I don't need to worry about death, as I can return to my main body once my soul and consciousness separate from this body. However, I may need to change my plans. If I stay in this world with a woman like her, I'm afraid I might face some form of bullying. I would rather not spend my days being bullied. Instead, I would prefer to return to my main body and continue pursuing my goals. No, I cannot think negatively; I must think positively. Maybe my fate is good if this body's meant to live a good life.
I watched as the woman... no, the mother of the body I now inhabit, offered a polite, "Thank you, Madam Thalindra." Her tone was gracious, even warm, but the tone in her words, particularly the slight hesitation before she spoke, revealed a quiet ache. Though she meant her words, I could sense the underlying pain. She was the one who was being gently, unmistakably rejected in this family.
Seeing the situation, though, I could now decipher their expression and words a bit after observing their facial expressions and movements. I could not help but feel a sadness in my heart, so unfamiliar to me.
"It's good that you still know your place. Now, if you would excuse me, I have to take care of my sweet little daughter, who is from a proper noble lineage," Thalindra said with dismissal.
The woman carrying the baby left the room, leaving the man, the head of the household, to remain.
"Good afternoon, Lord Destenebres," said the woman who is the mother of this body, her voice gentle with concern. "You seem quite tired. You should rest... otherwise, you might collapse."
"There is no need for such concern for me," the man said, his voice smooth but distant, like frost on polished glass. Though his words were measured, they carried no warmth.
He looked at me, not with curiosity, not with warmth, but like I was something inconvenient. An obstacle. Was that really fair? I'd just been born. I hadn't even done anything yet. And the way he spoke to the mother of this body... so curt... so indifferent. It was as if our existence barely registered. Yet in the game, this same man would dote on his main daughter and son as if they were his entire world. So why, in this reality, did his gaze hold nothing for us?
I could not help but be curious about this. I don't remember much from the game as I would skip the story, but I do know the fate of this world.
"I still have many things to do, so I shall give this child his name," the man said, his tone as calm and cold as before.
I snapped out of my thoughts, suddenly wondering what he was going to name me. Honestly, I had forgotten most of the early parts of the game. It went on for so long, even up until now, before I was… soulnapped here. Or maybe "transmigrated" is the nicer way to put it. So knowing the name of this body would give me a hint of what my life would be like.
The man's gaze swept over me, calm and deliberate, as though I were a mere pawn, wondering whether I would be helpful as he looked at me, as though he were judging my existence.
'Well, if he is going to judge my existence, I hope he gives me a good name, if not... I will be disappointed...' I thought helplessly.
"Ragnar Destenebres." The words left his lips without pause, cold and detached, as if he'd plucked the name from the air without a second thought.
Before the mother of this body could utter a word, the man spoke over her.
"When I looked at his features, I found nothing of value, and I considered giving him an ordinary name. But then I met his eyes… and it was as if I was staring into his very soul. I couldn't tell if I saw a monster, a beast, a warmonger... or perhaps a stray predator. I thought again of giving him something common, yet a name suddenly flashed through my mind, as if decided by fate itself. Ragnarok, I shortened it. It felt too long." The man spoke with the same calm, cold tone as before.
'What kind of logic is that... Name me something else, you little brat!' I screamed in my mind.
The mother of this body smiled at me.
"Ragnar… I love it," she said, before turning that same smile toward the man, soft and radiant, like a girl hopelessly in love.
'No, I don't love it, change it!' I screamed in my mind as I helplessly flapped my arms at my supposed mother.
"I shall leave now," the man said, his voice as steady and detached as ever, giving no hint of emotion before turning away.
"Thank you for your time, Lord Destenebres," the woman said with practised politeness, gratitude softening her tone as her eyes lingered on him.
With those words, the man turned and left, his presence vanishing like a shadow slipping away, leaving behind only the maids and the mother of this body.
The maids and the mother of this body chatted among themselves, their voices a mix of congratulations and quiet concern. One particular maid, her light blue hair framing deep, dark blue eyes, watched the mother with unmistakable worry.
Their chatter faded into the background as a sharp headache clawed at my mind. The devils inside me were laughing, mocking and revelling in the reason behind my name. Ragnar… a mere fragment of the word Ragnarok, as if fate itself had whispered it in that stupid man's ear.
'Ragnar…' I murmured inwardly, calm as I tried to recall his role in the game. After a moment, it came back to me: he was just an extra, a minor character who met his end at the hands of one of the five protagonists. The protagonist who killed the former owner of this body was none other than his half-brother, though sadly, what was worse was that Ragnar had two women he liked, but they did not like him back. After Ragnar's death, his two crushes sided with his half-brother and joined his harem.
What a sad fate this body holds... Honestly, I could only recall that much, but I do not know the process or the girls anymore; I only knew the summary of his fate somehow...
Realising the fate of this body, one thought crossed my mind.
'Could I die and wake up back in my own body? Please?' I begged in my mind.
My thoughts scattered as the mother of this body wrapped me in a firm, almost protective hug. Her smile, bright, tender, and impossibly warm, washed over me like sunlight breaking through clouds.
'Sorry, lady. Even that bright, gentle smile can't change it, I still want to die and wake up in my own body, I admitted silently, the thought heavy in my chest.' I thought to myself as I had decided on my fate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a realm far removed from the mortal plane, a colossal temple rested upon the clouds. Crystal waters poured from its marble terraces, weaving silver rivers through the mist, as though the heavens themselves drank from its flow.
At the very heart of the temple's vast landscape lay a small, round fountain pond. Its crystal surface shimmered, reflecting the image of me being held tightly in the arms of my current body's mother. Beside the fountain stood a woman of breathtaking beauty, her long green hair glimmered with a magical, divine light, and within its depths danced countless shifting scenes, as though she carried the present world within her very being. Her emerald eyes seemed to pierce through time itself, able to glimpse the fate and life journey of any soul. Yet, despite her ethereal grace, her breaths came shallow and strained, as if something had drained her strength, leaving her weary and panting as she gazed into the water's reflection.
"It… is… a suc… cess…" The woman watching the reflection smiled weakly, but the expression soon faded. Slowly, she lifted her gaze, not to the cosmos itself, but to the vast barrier encasing the world, shimmering like a guardian shield in the void.
"We… do… not… have… much… time…" she whispered between ragged breaths, her voice trembling with exhaustion as her eyes remained fixed on the barrier.
She turned to look back at the temple. It was so grand and immense that it seemed suitable for a goddess who ruled over the entire world. The stonemasonry was exquisite, with the pillars and buildings appearing intricately carved with fine detail.
She was not looking at the temple itself, but at its gate, which appeared to be made of pure gold. To be precise, behind the gold gate.
[Note: The main character of the story is supposed to be an overpowered individual; there will be unknown power-ups and sudden comebacks. Especially these startings. I will also tend to write the MC Character pasts and stuff from time to time. Also, do not hesitate to leave feedback. Also, the characters are either inspired or just made up, and there will be lots of female characters... I know I sound like a loser right now. Also, MC will be like a necromancer, kind of... Well, sort of...]
