"Jesus Christ. It's really happening."
Kaiden winked at the guard as he emerged into the compound. Dungeon-Born soldiers guided the ground formations along the drive, while Eclipse's gate team coordinated their departure with the traffic officers farther along the route.
*Thud. Thud. Thud.*
The first Monolith followed him into daylight. Obsidian shoulders filled the mouth of the ramp as the rest of its formation emerged.
"Skreeee!"
A Skyfiend burst from the ramp behind the ground troops, crying out at its first sight of the open sky. It bounded across the cleared lot and launched itself over the fence, carrying a Dungeon-Born rider who leaned forward to guide it toward the road.
The next flight followed, wings filling the space above the headquarters.
At the compound exit, the leading officer raised an arm. The Monolith behind him stopped, forcing the following creatures to shorten their steps until Taigi passed the halt along the formation.
