The bolt struck the open strip of road beside the column and shot past the ground formations. A Quakelord bellowed as she flashed around it, the purple streak weaving between the runners before Luna reappeared beside the leading rank.
"Come on! You big boys can do better than that!"
Her challenge drew eager roars from the giants. A Gorefiend folded its wings to sweep past them, and the shadow crossing Luna made her look up with an enormous grin.
She let it draw level before breaking apart in another crack of lightning. By the time its talons passed over the spot, she had reformed farther down the road, cackling at the creature left chasing her.
"Too slow!"
She stuck her tongue out at the creature before racing away, leaving it shrieking after her. From the carriers following Kaiden came the sound of his family's laughter, while Aria leaned forward in his arms to watch the streak of purple pull ahead.
