Chapter 234 - Are you a doctor?

Chapter 234 - Are you a doctor?

Hearing Roy's words, both Suzuka and Ayase looked at him instinctively. Ayase, in particular, gazed at him with a different light in her eyes.

At this moment, Ayase trusted Roy almost with everything.

If he said he could save her father, she wouldn't doubt him for a second.

"Uncle has been in a coma mainly due to the heart attack, compounded by the severe head trauma he suffered during the duel with Kuraudo. That's why he's been in a deep sleep," Roy explained, glancing at Kaito lying on the hospital bed.

"I happen to know a formula for a medicine that can treat him. There is a high probability it will wake him up."

Roy had previously copied medical and pharmaceutical techniques from Miach. Heart disease, a hurdle for modern medicine, was a simple fix in Roy's hands.

As for the brain injury, regenerating the damaged tissue was equally easy.

"Roy, please! I'm counting on you!" Ayase said gratefully.

"Okay. Let's try your medicine," Suzuka nodded after a moment of thought.

Although hospitals generally didn't allow unauthorized treatments, Roy sounded incredibly confident. In Suzuka's opinion, if Roy was this sure, it was worth the risk to save her brother.

Besides, Blazers possessed all sorts of strange abilities; healing magic wasn't unheard of.

"Ayase, take me to a nearby pharmacy to buy some meds. I need to compound the medicine fresh," Roy said.

"Meds?" Ayase was puzzled. "Roy, are you a doctor?"

She had assumed Roy had a ready-made meds, not that he would need to make it from scratch.

"I learned a thing or two from a doctor before," Roy smiled.

After buying the necessary meds and ingredients, Roy extracted the medicinal properties from the it and created a bowl of potion.

Under the watchful gazes of Ayase and Suzuka, he carefully fed the potion into Kaito's mouth.

"Now we just wait for it to take effect," Roy said, looking at the sleeping man. "If nothing goes wrong, Uncle should wake up in half an hour at most."

Almost immediately after swallowing the potion, Kaito's complexion turned rosy at a visible speed.

His breathing deepened, and the pallor of death faded. This change filled Ayase with hope.

While waiting for the medicine to work, Ayase sat by the bedside, guarding her father.

Feeling that he shouldn't intrude on her vigil, Roy left the ward and headed to the hospital's coffee shop.

Fuku General Hospital was a massive facility, well-equipped with amenities like cafes for waiting families.

"Roy, how long have you known our Ayase?"

Suzuka sat down opposite Roy, smiling pleasantly.

Seeing Suzuka's expression, Roy's mouth twitched.

He recognized this sense of déjà vu, it was the look of a guardian assessing a suitor.

Roy answered truthfully. However, his answer surprised Suzuka; she hadn't expected them to have known each other for less than two days.

She had assumed they were classmates.

"Is that so? Well, young people these days move faster than before. I suppose flash romances are the trend now," Suzuka said, interpreting the situation in her own way.

"Our family isn't old-fashioned. As long as you and Ayase get along well, I have no objections."

Suzuka fully displayed the character of a doting aunt. It was almost too much for Roy to handle.

"Auntie, look at the time. Uncle Kaito should be awake by now," Roy interrupted, using the time as an excuse.

Seeing Suzuka finally distracted from the topic of marriage, Roy breathed a sigh of relief.

The two left the coffee shop and returned to the ward. Before they even entered, they heard noisy voices coming from inside.

"Ayase, I told you I'm fine now! I feel healthy enough to swing a sword a thousand times!"

A masculine, energetic voice drifted through the door.

"Dad, please! You just woke up. Lie down first, and I'll get the doctor to give you a full body check!" Ayase sounded anxious but incredibly happy.

"Looks like he's awake." Suzuka opened the door with a look of pleasant surprise.

In the ward, Kaito was sitting up in bed, his eyes sparkling with life. If not for his thin frame, one wouldn't believe this was a patient who had been in a coma for two years.

"Roy, you're finally here! Hurry up and persuade my father. He just woke up and already wants to start moving around!" Ayase pleaded, her eyes lighting up when she saw him.

"Roy?" Kaito looked puzzled, his sharp gaze immediately falling on the boy.

Ayase quickly began to recount the events of the past two days to her father.

"To be able to defeat that brat with pure swordsmanship... you must be excellent," Kaito said, looking at Roy with burning interest. "Are you interested in becoming my apprentice and inheriting the Ayatsuji Itto-ryu?"

"I'll pass on the apprenticeship, but I would like to experience your swordsmanship, Uncle," Roy smiled. "I've heard the reputation of the Last Samurai and his exquisite, flawless technique."

"Roy, don't encourage him! He's not the kind of person who pays attention to his health!" Ayase said helplessly.

"Uncle's body is fine. I'll prepare some meds to regulate his recovery later; just take it on time," Roy assured her.

"No problem!" Kaito laughed heartily. "Since you don't want to be my apprentice, I won't force it. Anyway, after you and Ayase get married, my Ayatsuji Itto-ryu will naturally be passed down to you."

BAM!

Kaito suddenly took a chop to the head from Ayase.

"You haven't been awake for five minutes and you're already talking nonsense!" Ayase shouted, blushing furiously.

"Hahaha! Ayase, you look so cute when you're angry, just like your mother used to. Don't worry, when you two get married, the dojo will be yours."

"I'll take care of your children while I can still move!" Kaito laughed, unbothered by the hit.

Roy sighed, looking from Suzuka to Kaito.

These two were definitely siblings.
