In the dimly lit training chamber beneath Planet Sadala's Saiyan Citadel, Li Xu's muscles tensed and sweat flew from his brow with each devastating strike. The chamber echoed with shockwaves as he practiced against phantom projections refinements of his Condensing Time Skill.
It had been nearly a year since his clash with Hit, the legendary assassin of Universe 6. That battle had elevated his control over the laws of time, but he hadn't forgotten the dark force lurking in the shadows: Frost.
Frost, the deceptive Frieza-like tyrant of Universe 6, had managed to evade judgment for too long. Entrusting the mission to Li Yi, Bra, Caulifla, and Kale, Li Xu allowed the younger generation to uncover the truth. Initially, Caulifla was in disbelief Frost had presented himself as a benevolent leader. But their investigation revealed his facade. In the decisive confrontation, Frost used a concealed stinger to poison Li Yi, just as he had done in the Tournament of Destroyers. Li Xu, however, had not warned his son. The pain of betrayal, he believed, would become a cornerstone of growth.
Fueled by that betrayal, Caulifla had unleashed her full wrath, and Frost was ultimately annihilated no redemption arc, no deception left.
"Om!"
A sharp tone pulsed through the chamber. Li Xu paused, wiping sweat from his brow. A glowing sigil hovered before him, it was a message from Vados.
"Li Xu, report to the World of the Gods of Destruction immediately."
"What could Vados need now?" he muttered, puzzled, but didn't hesitate. Two fingers to his forehead—and in a flash of Instant Transmission, he vanished.
In the sacred World of the Destroyers, Vados awaited with another familiar face: Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time.
"Kai-ne," Li Xu greeted casually. "You could've contacted me directly through the Time Ring."
"You were going to come anyway," Chronoa said with a huff. Despite her ancient status, her youthful appearance and strict demeanor were almost comical.
"There's another mission, isn't there?" A knowing glint appeared in Li Xu's eye.
"Yes. The second Dark Dragon Ball has emerged. You must retrieve it," she said with uncharacteristic gravity.
"We already have one. Even if the rest fall into the hands of the Dark Empire, they can't summon Dark Shenron without all seven," Li Xu pointed out, arms crossed.
"Our mission isn't just to collect the Dragon Balls," Chronoa snapped. "It's about maintaining temporal order. Every interference from the Dark Empire risks creating new divergent timelines!"
Li Xu nodded. "Fine. Where am I headed?"
Chronoa raised her hands, channeling a silvery, time-infused aura. "You're going to another Earth one not of your time."
With a slash of space, a rift opened and Li Xu stepped through.
With a sonic boom, he appeared amid swirling winds and cracked terrain. The sky overhead was red with ki residue.
"…Earth?" he muttered, recognizing the geography but not the timeline.
Then he sensed it. That aura ominous, twisted, yet familiar.
"So he's the one this time," he muttered. With a burst, he vanished again.
Elsewhere…
"BOOM!"
Perfect Cell, now in his complete form, sent Super Saiyan 2 Gohan flying through a mountain. Nearby, both Goku and Vegeta lay unconscious, their battle-worn bodies motionless.
"This can't be… Even Super Saiyan 2… I still can't win…" Gohan gasped, blood dribbling from his lips. His body trembled, unable to stand.
Then
"BANG!"
A golden blur streaked from the sky, and Cell was booted backward mid-blast.
"Wha!?"
Everyone turned toward the new arrival: a young man with spiked black hair, dressed in a strange hybrid of Saiyan armor and Kai garb.
"Hey, everyone," Li Xu said, grinning. "Name's Li Xu."
The stunned warriors stared in disbelief.
"Vegeta, is he one of yours?" Goku asked.
"…Never seen him before," Vegeta replied, narrowing his eyes.
"He's powerful…" Goku muttered. "That kick none of us could've landed something like that."
Li Xu tossed a small pouch. "Senzu beans. Heal up."
"You have senzu too!?" Goku exclaimed.
"I'm a Saiyan, too," Li Xu said with a smirk.
The declaration shocked them.
"No way! Kakarot, that brat, and I are the only Saiyans left in this universe!" Vegeta shouted.
"You've heard of parallel timelines, right?" Li Xu said.
"You're from the future?" Gohan asked.
"Not quite. I'm from another reality," Li Xu explained. "I'm here for the second Dark Dragon Ball."
"The what now?" Vegeta grumbled.
Then "Show yourselves!"
A rift opened mid-air. Out stepped two cloaked figures neither Towa nor Mira. New operatives of the Dark Empire.
"You're with the Dark Demon Realm?" Li Xu said, tone turning cold.
"Yes. Towa told us about you," the woman said with a confident smile.
"Then you know I'm not letting you leave with that Dragon Ball."
"Try and stop us!" the male snarled, summoning a massive hammer of dark ki and swinging down.
Li Xu calmly lifted a finger and stopped the weapon dead.
"…What!?"
"You're not even as strong as Mira was," Li Xu said, disappointed.
Dark energy exploded from the man his aura turning pitch black as the sigils of Demon God possession flared on his skin. His power jumped exponentially.
"That's dark magic!" Goku exclaimed.
"His energy… It's worse than Cell's!" Gohan muttered.
"Can Li Xu beat them?" Goku asked, worried.
Li Xu cracked his neck, the ground shaking beneath him.
"I used to have trouble against this kind of power," he said. "But not anymore."
With a surge, golden energy erupted from him as he ascended to Super Saiyan, his aura roaring with divine pressure.
"…He really is a Saiyan," Goku whispered.
"And his Super Saiyan form… It's different," Gohan added. "Refined… controlled…"
"Tch…" Vegeta's fists trembled. "Another Saiyan… stronger than me…"
