c126: The New Time-Space Patrol Member
"Gurebi, our objective is the Dark Dragon Ball. There's no need for unnecessary confrontation," Putine barked sharply, her crimson eyes glowing beneath her hood.
Gurebi snarled, his demonic aura crackling. "Putine, if we don't beat him, we can't retrieve the Dark Dragon Ball! He's mocking us I won't let it stand!"
BOOM!
Gurebi lunged, swinging his dark ki-forged hammer down on Li Xu with ferocity. But Li Xu didn't flinch his fist met the blow head-on. A sonic blast echoed, and Gurebi stumbled back, his arm numb. The hammer slipped from his trembling grip.
"Hmph," Li Xu scoffed. "Disappointing. If you're going to interfere in my timeline, at least send someone who isn't a weakling."
BANG!
Before Gurebi could recover, Li Xu rocketed forward and buried a punch in his gut. Gurebi's body folded around the blow, bile surging up his throat. He dropped to his knees, coughing violently as his weapon clattered beside him.
"W-what…?" Putine gasped, eyes wide. "How did his power skyrocket like that?!"
The last time Towa's enforcer Mira had battled Li Xu, the two were evenly matched. That had only been a few years ago by Earth standards. How could this gap have widened so dramatically?
What Putine didn't know was that Li Xu had spent several subjective years training inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, further refining his use of time-based ki. After his fight with Champa, he had begun incorporating Hakai energy the Destruction power unique to Gods of Destruction into his training. As a hybrid Saiyan trained by Whis and battle-hardened by war, Li Xu's evolution had eclipsed mortal limits.
"It's over," he said coldly.
He raised one palm, a dense blue-white sphere of energy forming in his hand. The air twisted around it from sheer pressure.
"No… NO!" Gurebi screamed, crawling backward.
Li Xu launched the energy sphere point-blank. Gurebi's body was engulfed in a blinding explosion. Fire surged upward in a towering column before vaporizing into dust.
Putine's expression shattered. "Forget the mission!" she hissed. With a slash of her wand, she carved a dimensional rift and tried to flee.
But Li Xu was already in motion.
Just as he was about to catch her
CRASH!
A massive foot swatted him away.
It was Dark Cell his body mutated from the influence of dark magic, now towering at nearly 20 meters tall, with warped bio-armor and a demonic ki signature. This was no ordinary Cell.
Li Xu narrowed his eyes, flipping in midair before landing. He dodged the colossal follow-up slap, but the moment's distraction was enough.
Putine dove into the rift and disappeared. The portal sealed shut with a pulse of dark energy.
"Tch. Looks like I still can't fully prevent escapes," Li Xu thought. "Once I master the laws of time and space, not even dimensional gaps will be safe havens."
ROAR!
Dark Cell thundered forward, his colossal foot crashing down where Li Xu had stood. The terrain quaked as if struck by a meteorite.
"Cell's mutated again!" Goku shouted, standing atop a distant hill. "This version of him is even stronger than the original Perfect Cell!"
"He's nothing like before…" Gohan added. "But… look at Li Xu. He's not even breaking a sweat."
Dark Cell tried to grab Li Xu with both hands, but the latter zipped through the grasp, dashed along Cell's arm, and vaulted to his shoulder.
WHAM!
A spinning kick smashed into Cell's face. The mutated bio-android reeled, crashing backward.
Without hesitation, Li Xu closed in and yanked something embedded in Cell's chest, it glowed black and pulsed with energy.
The Dark Dragon Ball.
As Li Xu pulled it free, Dark Cell's form convulsed and began to shrink, the demonic aura dispersing. Soon, he returned to his original Perfect Cell size, unconscious and twitching.
"Got it," Li Xu smiled, holding the second Dark Dragon Ball aloft. "That's two down."
"I'll leave the rest to you guys," he said, turning to Goku and Gohan. "This Cell isn't your biggest threat anymore. Gohan, finish what you started."
Gohan clenched his fists and nodded. His strength had returned, and this time, there would be no hesitation.
"Wait!" Goku called as Li Xu prepared to teleport.
"What is it?" Li Xu asked.
"Which timeline are you from?" Goku said. "I want to fight you someday."
Li Xu chuckled. "No matter the timeline, you never change, Goku."
He paused, considering.
"You wouldn't be able to find me even if you tried. But maybe I'll come to you again if your strength is worth my time."
"Then show me your true power!" Goku shouted.
Li Xu obliged.
With a flash, he ignited into Super Saiyan. Golden light surged around him, his hair spiking upward.
"This is Super Saiyan."
CRACKLE! Electric arcs burst from his aura.
"Super Saiyan 2."
Gohan's eyes widened. "That's the form I used against Cell…!"
Then
WHOOSH!
Li Xu's hair extended to his waist. His brows vanished. His aura expanded into a tempest of raw power.
"Super Saiyan 3!" Goku gasped, eyes gleaming. "You've even gone that far!"
Then came the final transformation.
A radiant explosion of light engulfed Li Xu.
When it cleared, his body was covered in red fur, his hair long and wild, a tail swaying behind him.
"Super Saiyan 4…" Vegeta whispered, his heart racing. "It's real…"
Goku shuddered. "So strong…"
"When your power reaches my level," Li Xu said, "you'll be qualified to challenge me. But remember my strength won't stop evolving."
"I'll train harder than ever!" Goku vowed.
"I'm the Saiyan Prince," Vegeta growled. "No one surpasses me."
"I'll be watching," Li Xu said. "Don't disappoint me."
And with that
SHOOM!
Li Xu vanished.
But he didn't return home directly. He couldn't not yet. Instead, he reappeared elsewhere on Earth and contacted Chronoa.
Soon, a portal opened, and Kibito Kai emerged.
Back at the Time Nest, Li Xu handed the Dark Dragon Ball to Chronoa.
"Nice work," she said. "You really crushed that Gurebi freak."
"He was a minor obstacle," Li Xu replied. "But… I've been thinking. I'm still the only active member of the Time-Space Patrol. That's not sustainable."
Chronoa tapped her chin. "Funny you mention that. I had two candidates in mind, but wasn't sure if they were ready. Since you brought it up… want to oversee their recruitment?"
Li Xu smirked. "Leave it to me."
Chronoa nodded, already reaching for her divine scrolls.
Little did Li Xu know, these recruits would shape the future of the multiverse and he would soon face a threat that made even the Dark Empire look like child's play…
