Brandon's POV
"Elizabeth?"
The name hit me like a punch straight to the chest.
I stared at Garrett, certain I had heard him wrong.
"You know Elizabeth?"
Garrett nodded absentmindedly, already pulling his phone from his pocket.
"Yeah. She's been helping with the investigation for months."
Months?
The word echoed inside my head.
Everything suddenly felt bigger than I had imagined. Bigger than what I thought I knew.
My pulse kicked up violently as Garrett punched in a number and lifted the phone to his ear.
The call connected almost immediately.
"Elizabeth?"
A woman's voice answered through the speaker.
"Garrett. The police are on their way. Just focus on keeping Chloe out of the public eye. We don't want anyone realizing she's alive."
I frowned.
Alive?
My brows furrowed.
What the hell was she talking about?
Beside me, Garrett's face visibly drained of color.
"Elizabeth—"
But the call had already ended.
The line went dead.
For a moment, neither of us moved.
