Zoe's POV
The taxi hadn't even come to a complete stop before I reached for the door handle.
"Whoa, hold on."
Elizabeth grabbed my wrist.
I turned to her impatiently.
The massive arena loomed ahead of us, glowing beneath thousands of lights. Media vans lined the entrance. Crowds gathered behind barricades. Photographers moved around like sharks scenting blood.
Every second felt like a year slipping through my fingers.
I couldn't afford another delay.
"Chloe, wait."
I groaned and turned sharply.
"What now?"
Elizabeth reached into the backseat and pulled out a black baseball cap along with a pair of oversized sunglasses.
"Put these on."
I blinked at her.
"What?"
"The press are everywhere."
She tilted her head toward the brightly lit venue ahead of us.
Even from here, I could see camera flashes exploding like tiny fireworks against the night sky. Reporters clustered like flies waiting on their next victim to pounce on.
"We don't need anyone recognizing you right now."
