Seth's POV
I watched Ashley as though the entire world had stopped breathing.
The color drained from her face so quickly it was almost frightening.
Her body went rigid.
Completely rigid.
Like every muscle had locked at once.
No one moved.
No one even seemed to breathe.
Everyone just watched her.
Waited.
I watched in complete suspense, wondering what she would do.
Then my eyes drifted toward Zoe.
And that somehow hurt even more.
She looked completely lost.
Buried beneath emotions she couldn't even begin to process.
Fear.
Guilt.
Shock.
Panic.
Everything was written all over her face.
Her eyes were wide and glassy, staring at Ashley like someone waiting for a death sentence.
Then instinct took over her.
She moved a step forward.
"Ash—"
That's when I reached for her arm immediately.
"Let me."
She looked at me in total confusion.
Not because I had some genius plan.
Not because I had this whole thing figured out.
