Zoe's POV
I stood there and watched Seth disappear down the hallway with Ashley.
I couldn't move.
Couldn't speak.
Couldn't even breathe properly.
The image of Ashley's face replayed over and over inside my head like a broken recording.
The horror in her eyes.
The disbelief.
The hurt.
God.
The hurt.
It sat inside my chest like something alive, clawing at me from the inside laced with a really piercing guilt.
I felt rooted to the spot while everything within me slowly caved in.
Everything around me suddenly felt strange.
Muted and distant.
Like someone had dropped me beneath deep water.
Voices floated around me.
Feet shuffled against the carpet.
Someone sighed.
Someone moved.
But it all sounded so far away.
Like there weren't about four persons right there with me.
Ashley knew.
She knew.
Ashley had found out.
Those words didn't leave me. They repeated endlessly inside my head like a curse.
Like a punishment for betrayal.
Over and over.
