Zoe's POV
The main door closed behind me with a soft click.
For a second, I just stood there on the steps outside the building.
The afternoon sun warmed my face the moment I stepped out.
The breeze lifted strands of my mixed brown hair.
Everything felt strangely light.
As though someone had reached into my chest and untied a knot that had been there for months.
Then I saw them.
Chloe.
And Garrett.
They were standing near the curb beside Garrett's car.
Waiting.
Chloe spotted me first.
Her face lit up instantly when she saw me.
I didn't even think; I just ran.
My heels clicked against the pavement as I crossed the distance between us.
"Chloe!"
She barely had time to react before I threw myself into her arms.
She laughed as I nearly knocked her backward.
"Oh, my God. Zoe!"
I hugged her tighter.
"I'm so happy for you."
My voice broke with laughter and tears all at once.
"I'm so happy."
