Chapter 152 - Chapter 152: Cooperation

Nightfall descended quietly upon the quiet town of Weybridge.

The streets glistened under a thin veil of rain. Distant lamps illuminated the slick cobblestones of the quaint British town, their light refracting gently through droplets, casting faint glows on stone walls and ivy-covered fences.

Within this peaceful town, a storm was brewing.

The Avengers had arrived—unaware that they were being observed by the darkest forces in the world.

Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and the rest of the team had landed earlier in their Quinjet, cloaked under radar and shielded from detection. J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark's AI, worked overtime, running a global network scan with the support of S.H.I.E.L.D. military satellites. Together, they tapped into private phone cameras, public surveillance, and more—anything that could help locate their true target: Mephisto.

The demon had last been detected in London.

So the team traveled quickly to Weybridge, a small town nestled southwest of the city.

Though the town was quiet, almost idyllic, the Avengers weren't taking any chances. Rather than staying inside the town proper, Tony arranged accommodations on a nearby countryside farm, using both his face and his wallet to secure the place instantly.

The farmhouse was cozy—wooden floors, hand-carved furniture, and small decorations like traditional British toys made the place feel warm and lived-in. The elderly couple who owned the place had served a fresh, hearty dinner, and the Avengers now sat upstairs in the dining loft, eating and preparing.

But their minds were heavy with tension. They weren't here for tea and scones. They were here for a demon.

Mephisto, a creature whose projected soul once summoned a meteorite with force equivalent to twenty nuclear bombs, was more than just powerful. He was cunning, manipulative, and dangerous beyond reason. Unlike Loki, who enjoyed chaos for fun, Mephisto thrived on corruption and despair.

And worse yet—he had taken control of several Blood Clan factions, using them to create an army of the undead right under the nose of humanity.

"I don't like this," Natasha said, tapping her finger on the edge of her plate. "If he's in this town... and he's already turned Blood Clan to his side, why does it feel like he's waiting for something?"

Steve Rogers nodded slowly. "It's too quiet. Mephisto doesn't do things without a plan. Forming a Blood Clan army seems... simple. There's got to be more to this."

"We've got a full transport of silver weapons arriving within the hour," Tony added. "We can deal with vampires. But we need a strategy to neutralize Mephisto himself."

Bruce Banner, ever thoughtful, tapped at his tablet. "We can't scare him off. If he senses we're onto him, he'll vanish. And next time… he might not be in Britain. He could pop up in New York, Paris… or worse."

Just then, footsteps creaked on the wooden stairs.

Every Avenger froze.

The sound was deliberate, heavy, slow. They had made it clear to the farmhouse owners not to come upstairs under any circumstances. Whoever was climbing the stairs now was not supposed to be there.

Weapons appeared instantly.

Steve raised his shield, Natasha drew a pistol from beneath the table, and Clint silently notched an arrow. Even Bruce tensed slightly.

Then, a figure stepped into view.

It was Sanjid, dressed in a rugged brown denim jacket. His face was serious, but the tension in the room didn't ease.

Then another figure appeared behind him.

A woman, tall and striking. Dressed in black leather combat armor with a long coat, her figure was athletic, her features sharp, and her face pale as moonlight. Her eyes held cold calculation. Her hair fell just past her shoulders, slightly disheveled but elegant nonetheless.

She looked like the embodiment of the night.

J.A.R.V.I.S. chimed into Tony's earpiece. "Sir, the woman behind Sanjid is identified as a Blood Clan operative. Codename: Selina."

Tony let out a quiet sigh. "Of course. Always the beautiful ones."

He shook his head and subtly eased his repulsor hand back under the table.

The others heard J.A.R.V.I.S.' voice through their own comms. The information rippled through the group silently, and all eyes turned toward the unexpected guests.

Sanjid walked over and stood at the edge of the table. His voice was flat.

"Her name is Selina. She's a Death Walker—an elite warrior of the Victor Blood Clan. She brings a message from their temporary leader, Kraven. She's here… to help."

Tony raised an eyebrow.

Steve tilted his head slightly. "Help?"

Sanjid shrugged and took a seat at the table, immediately digging into the food. "Up to you."

He had spent the whole day hunting down leads across London and hadn't eaten in over twelve hours. Frankly, he didn't care who Selina was—unless she got between him and his food. The only reason she was still breathing was because this mission came straight from Bella. Otherwise, any dark creature—Blood Clan or demon—would have felt his blade by now.

Selina, though cold and stoic on the surface, couldn't hide the flicker of fear that passed through her eyes.

She could sense it—the power inside Sanjid.

There was something ancient and wild in him, something so massive, so overwhelming, that even her centuries of battle couldn't prepare her for it. His energy fluctuated between burning hot and deathly cold.

He wasn't just powerful. He was dangerous.

And the Avengers? Each of them radiated strength. Selina had dealt with many warriors before, but never a team quite like this.

But time was short.

"I know you're here for the demon," Selina said directly. "So are we. I've come to propose a temporary alliance."

Tony and Steve exchanged a look.

Steve nodded for her to continue.

"The demon is hiding in this town. He's corrupted an unknown number of Blood Clan soldiers. They're scattered, embedded, watching. If we act alone, we'll fail. But if we act together—we may have a chance to surround him."

She paused.

"We'll seal off the town's exits. If he tries to escape, we'll catch him. You handle the main confrontation."

Tony sat back, arms crossed. "So we do the heavy lifting, and you get the credit?"

Selina didn't smile. "I don't care about credit. I care about survival. You kill him, we don't have to. And if he escapes again, none of us will be safe."

The room fell silent.

Finally, Steve nodded. "All right. We accept. Begin your operation."

Selina gave a small bow of acknowledgment. Without another word, she turned and left.

The group sat in silence for a beat, watching her vanish down the stairs.

"She reminds me of Maria Hill," Clint muttered.

"Same energy," Natasha agreed.

Tony turned to Sanjid, who was chewing peacefully. "So... she's not going to call in the queen?"

Everyone knew who he meant.

Sanjid shook his head. "This is my mission. Bella doesn't need to step in."

That was enough for everyone. If Bella wasn't getting involved yet, that meant she believed in Sanjid. And if Bella believed… so did they.

Outside, the rain continued to fall.

But inside, the Avengers had just gained a new ally in the war against Mephisto.

And the town of Weybridge was about to become the battleground of light and shadow.
