Chapter 266 - Douluo, Celestial Court

Su Shan'er was different from the others—she was merely a small Rank 10 Soul Master. Naturally, her soul power would increase more through natural cultivation. Besides, she also possessed a soul bone and a thousand-year soul ring.

"However, Master, you're right. Her soul power is indeed a bit unstable right now; she really needs to settle down and consolidate it properly. As for her second soul ring, let's wait a while before discussing that."

Huo Yuhao had the same thought as Du Busi. Su Shan'er was still young and had only just begun her journey as a Soul Master—it wasn't wise to take too big of a step too soon.

"Alright, Shan'er, release your soul ring and let me take a look."

"Yes, Teacher."

Obediently, Su Shan'er released her martial soul. After doing so, her body didn't show any obvious changes—only a faint white glow appeared across her skin.

Huo Yuhao didn't pay much attention to that. His spiritual power extended toward the thousand-year soul ring to examine it. Now that he could even create soul rings himself, his understanding of them had naturally become far deeper.

If it weren't for his still-immature soul skill crafting technique, he would've just condensed a soul ring for his disciple directly instead of making a trip to the Star Dou Forest.

However, before long, Huo Yuhao's expression changed. Through his research, he knew that every soul ring contained fixed internal circuits. When a Soul Master activated a soul skill, their soul power would flow into the ring, follow those circuits, and finally form the technique.

In simple terms, a soul ring's interior was essentially inscribed with an array-like structure.

But inside Su Shan'er's soul ring, Huo Yuhao didn't find any of those flow circuits—only pure, undiluted energy. This state was extremely similar to his own sixth soul ring.

Huo Yuhao then grasped Su Shan'er's wrist, sending his soul power through her body to examine her condition. He quickly discovered that her physical strength and the density of her soul power far exceeded that of Soul Masters at her level.

He fell into deep thought. This situation seemed as though the part of the soul ring responsible for regulating energy flow had fused entirely into her body.

Then suddenly, realization dawned on him. His expression relaxed into a smile. He'd figured it out.

"What is it? Did you find something?" Du Busi asked.

Su Shan'er looked nervously at her teacher, afraid that she might not be able to become a Soul Master after all.

Seeing her worry, Huo Yuhao chuckled and patted her head. "Relax. It's a good thing."

Then he turned to Du Busi. "Master, do you remember the Haotian Sect's ring explosion technique?"

Although Du Busi didn't know why this kid suddenly brought that up, he still answered, "Of course I do. That technique is quite formidable—by detonating one's soul ring, the energy merges with the body, allowing a Soul Master to erupt with immense power for a short time."

"Wait… you're saying…" Du Busi suddenly looked toward Su Shan'er, seemingly realizing a certain possibility.

"Exactly," Huo Yuhao said. "Normally, a soul ring has two parts. One part fuses with the Soul Master when absorbed.

"The other part controls the flow of soul power within the ring. Shan'er's ring is missing that control portion, which is why she has no soul skill."

"But that energy didn't disappear—it fused into Shan'er's body and now exists in that form.

"In other words, when she releases her martial soul, she's essentially in a permanent 'exploded ring' state."

"However, unlike the Haotian Sect's technique, Shan'er's state is innate—it doesn't harm her or her soul ring. The Haotian technique, on the other hand, causes the soul ring to vanish completely if used too many times."

"If there's any drawback at all, it's that she has no soul skills. But come on—since when did our Body Sect ever lack battle techniques?"

Du Busi let out a proud laugh. "In that field, if we call ourselves second, no one dares claim first."

Huo Yuhao also chuckled, turning to Shan'er. "Don't worry, Shan'er. So what if you don't have soul skills? Once your teacher's finished with his current matters, I'll teach you myself—let's make a dozen self-created techniques."

"Teacher, can I really do that?"

Hearing her teacher and grandmaster talk, Su Shan'er finally relaxed, realizing she wasn't crippled after all. Still, she lacked confidence.

Huo Yuhao laughed heartily, ruffling her hair again. "What's so difficult about that? Go out and ask around—when has your teacher ever relied on soul rings or soul skills?

"Back when I joined the Continental Soul Master Tournament, I relied on a few sets of self-created techniques alone. Those so-called geniuses were nothing but useless trash in front of me—completely crushed."

To comfort his little disciple, Huo Yuhao started boasting for the first time.

Du Busi and the Ice Empress couldn't help but laugh quietly. While he exaggerated a bit, it wasn't exactly false.

Element City — located in the northern border of the Heavenly Soul Empire, neighboring the Dou Ling Empire—a mid-sized border city.

Its name had quite a history. Ten thousand years ago, five prestigious academies once stood here: Tianshui Academy, Blazing Academy, Thunder Academy, Godwind Academy, and Elephant Armor Academy.

Each represented one of the five elements—Water, Fire, Lightning, Wind, and Earth. Together, they were known as the Five Elemental Academies, and the city was thus named Element City.

At that time, Element City was world-famous. The Five Elemental Academies were elite institutions under the Heaven Dou Empire, and their graduates were talents sought after by every major sect.

Later, when the Spirit Hall founded the Spirit Empire and began suppressing other Soul Master factions, the four elemental academies were among those affected. Why four? Because the Elephant Armor Academy's backer—the Elephant Armored Sect—had sided with the Spirit Hall.

Under the Spirit Empire's pressure, Tianshui, Blazing, Godwind, and Thunder Academies united and merged into the Four Elemental Academy. Eventually, even that was absorbed into Shrek Academy, losing all its former glory and significance.

Their alliance back then had only been born out of necessity—forced by the Spirit Empire's overwhelming oppression.

Later, after the Spirit Empire's defeat, Shrek Academy's internal divisions caused some to leave.

A portion of those from the original Four Elemental Academies returned to Element City and later founded the Soul Master Guild. This guild mainly took on various commissions from Soul Masters—such as hunting soul beasts for rings or searching for rare heavenly treasures.

In the present, Huo Yuhao and the Ice Empress were walking hand in hand down Element City's wide streets. After listening to Huo Yuhao's recount, the Ice Empress asked, "So this time, you came here for the Soul Master Guild?"

"That's right. Although the guild's fallen from its peak, it still has a solid foundation. I plan to take it under my control."

As he spoke, Huo Yuhao stopped at a street stall, drawn by the aroma in the air.

"Boss, two packs of candied chestnuts," he said. The foodie in him couldn't resist.

"Coming right up!" the stall owner replied cheerfully.

"But will they agree?" the Ice Empress asked, feeling like they were about to pick up something that had already been discarded.

"Everything depends on effort," Huo Yuhao said casually. "Over the years, the guild's influence in Element City has been steadily declining. It's long past its prime. And according to Saintblood Douluo, they've been facing some trouble lately."

He rubbed his hands together, eyes fixed on the roasting chestnuts.

When Huo Yuhao had announced the establishment of the Celestial Court, he'd mentioned inviting other forces to join. It had been a casual remark at the time—but unexpectedly, Yalingna later sought him out herself, suggesting he visit Element City to see if he could bring the Soul Master Guild under his banner.

After some inquiry, Huo Yuhao learned that Yalingna's parents had once been guild members, and the current guild leader happened to be her childhood friend.

The Celestial Court was the sect Huo Yuhao was about to establish. It didn't hold any particularly deep meaning—he just thought the name sounded grand and imposing.
