Chapter 267 - Element City

"Your candied chestnuts — here you go. That'll be ten copper soul coins."

The street vendor packed the freshly roasted chestnuts into a paper bag and handed them over.

Taking the bag, Huo Yuhao paid and walked off with Bing Di, eating as they went. Bing Di had never tasted such a thing before, so Huo Yuhao patiently taught her how to eat them. He peeled one, then brought it to her lips. "Open your mouth."

Bing Di obediently opened her mouth, enjoying the man's gentle care.

"What's gotten into you?"

She felt a little uncomfortable at Huo Yuhao's tenderness, her gaze subconsciously darting away.

"Nothing," he said softly, his hand brushing over her emerald-green ponytail. "I just wanted to go out with you. It's been too long. I haven't spent enough time with you."

Thinking back, every time he met with Bing Di before, it always ended up with them rolling around in bed—like he treated her as nothing more than a toy.

Today, he'd finally decided to take a break and used his "business trip" as an excuse to take her out for a proper walk.

Bing Di's lips curved in a faint smile. Of course she wished he could always be by her side—but she knew that was impossible. The man still had his own ambitions, his own path.

She didn't ask for much. As long as he thought of her, remembered her, and kept her in his heart—that was enough.

At least this man still had some conscience. Seems I didn't pick the wrong one after all, she thought.

After several hours of leisurely wandering, the two, full and content, finally arrived at their destination—the Element City Soul Master Guild.

The guild's entrance looked grand and solemn. The entire building was only two colors—black and white. Two uniformed guards stood stiffly on either side of the main gate, faces serious and composed.

If Huo Yuhao were to describe it, it looked a lot like a police station back on Blue Star—formal, strict, and intimidating.

Inside, they entered a spacious hall. The pure white interior was spotless, though not overly luxurious.

A maid quickly approached, bowed gracefully, and said, "Greetings, honored guests. I am your receptionist, Duo Duo. May I ask if you're here to post a mission or to take one?"

"Let's take a look at what missions are available first."

Huo Yuhao was interested; there was no rush.

"Of course. This way, please." Duo Duo gestured politely for them to follow.

They ascended to the second floor. It wasn't a hall this time but a long corridor with rows of rooms—much like a hotel.

"Tasks are divided into different levels," the maid explained, "based on danger, rarity, and other factors. The ranks are: White-level, suitable for one-ring Soul Masters; Yellow-level, for Grand Soul Masters and Soul Elders; Purple-level, for Soul Ancestors and Soul Kings; and Black-level, for Soul Emperors up to Soul Douluos."

Seeing her pause there, Huo Yuhao added, "And I'm guessing there's a Red-level—for Titled Douluo?"

The maid smiled professionally. "Indeed, there is. However, I've never seen a Red-level task posted. After all, Titled Douluos are at the peak of the Soul Master world. It's rare for anything to attract their attention, and none would lower themselves to take missions from our small guild. Over time, that rank's been all but forgotten."

Huo Yuhao nodded. That made sense. For someone who already stood at the top, very few things could tempt them.

Then the maid asked, "If I may, could you tell me your cultivation level, sir? That way I can match suitable missions for you."

"Sixty-two."

Huo Yuhao said it casually, as if it were nothing important.

"Soul… Emperor?"

The maid's voice trembled in disbelief. She stared at him wide-eyed. The boy in front of her didn't look a day over fifteen—and he was already a Soul Emperor? In all her years, she'd never even heard of such a monster of talent.

"Do you need me to prove it?" Huo Yuhao smiled faintly. He wasn't surprised by her reaction. He had already scanned the guild earlier with his spiritual sense—there were only three Soul Douluos in the entire building. For them, a Soul Emperor was no small figure.

"N-no, that won't be necessary," she said quickly. Her training kicked in, and she regained her composure. It wasn't about trust—just that no one would lie about something like this. It would be too embarrassing if caught.

Still, the maid made a mental note to report this immediately afterward. A fifteen-year-old Soul Emperor—any major faction would be desperate to recruit him.

She had no idea that the young man before her was here to recruit them.

They stopped before one particular room. The door was painted black—the only one of its kind among the white, yellow, and purple ones they'd passed. People had long since grown accustomed to matching colors to spirit ring levels.

On the mission board beside it, rows of tasks were posted:

"Seeking to purchase century-old whale glue—quantity unlimited, only hundred-year quality accepted."

"Exterminate the wolf bandits around Xihu Village."

"Missing person notice: the eldest grandson of the Wu Family, from the south district, disappeared on the 15th of August, last seen on Changyang Street…"

"Seeking an expert to perform an abortion. Heavy reward."

Huo Yuhao's face twisted oddly. Everything else was normal—but that one? Who posts a mission like that?

"You guys take on abortion jobs now?" he asked dryly.

The maid's expression also turned a bit awkward, though not surprised. "That particular client's case was… special. A failed miscarriage left a dead fetus inside. She came to us because ordinary healers couldn't handle it."

What the hell…

Huo Yuhao almost cursed aloud. That was… something he did not need visualized. He quickly pushed the disturbing image out of his mind, a shiver crawling down his spine.

Deciding not to look at that cursed task again, Huo Yuhao turned his attention to the guild's structure instead. The operation model was quite decent—it might even be worth imitating.

Perhaps he could create something similar later—a trading hall or mission pavilion for his own people. After all, increasing spirit ring years shouldn't come for free; otherwise, everyone would take it for granted.

He could even implement a points system, contribution rankings, and a mission board. Disciples of the Heavenly Court could complete tasks for points and redeem them for rewards.

"Miss," Huo Yuhao finally said after his brief inspection, "I'd like to meet your Guild Master. Please inform her for me."

The maid froze for a moment, then considered it. Given his status as a Soul Emperor—especially one this young—she naturally couldn't refuse. She nodded. "Of course, sir. May I have your name to report?"

Huo Yuhao smiled and waved a hand. "When you see your Guild Master, tell her Yalingna sent me."

The maid didn't recognize the name, but still responded respectfully. "Understood, sir. Please wait here—I'll go announce you right away."

And indeed, Yalingna's name worked wonders. Before long, Huo Yuhao and Bing Di were escorted straight to the top floor.

The moment Huo Yuhao stepped inside, he saw a mature, stunning woman gracefully walking toward him.

Her long, water-blue hair was elegantly pinned up. Her delicate melon-shaped face, high nose, and full red lips radiated allure. Dressed in a sky-blue gown, her figure was voluptuous and perfectly proportioned—elegant yet sensual, the kind of beauty that stunned at a glance.

Huo Yuhao gave her a quick once-over. Interesting. She had that "CEO" aura about her—and strong cultivation to match: level eighty-eight.

Before coming, Huo Yuhao had done his homework. Element City had two Soul Douluos.

One was Shui Miaoyun, the Guild Master herself—level eighty-eight. The other was Vice Guild Master Shen Yan, a level eighty-four Soul Douluo.

However, Shen Yan's husband was also a Soul Douluo—level eighty-seven—but he hadn't joined the guild.
